Chapter 274: Fate Always Seeks Balance
"So you saw something, but you cannot tell me about it?" Leone asked.
"Y-Yes," Tianna replied. "However, I assure you that the vision has no relation to you. Well, I mean, it’s somewhat related, but not that related. Do you understand what I’m saying?"
"I don’t." Leone blinked. "Since you can’t tell me what it is, just tell me this at least. Was it a good thing? Also, how long do you plan to remain in my vassal’s embrace?"
Tianna’s face became tinged in red after hearing that. The only saving grace was that it was dark enough to hide her complexion for the time being.
"T-Thank you, Jason," Tianna said before slowly standing up.
"You’re welcome," Jason replied.
The young lady then shifted her attention toward the young chieftain, who had a faint smile on his face.
The gaze Leone was giving her made her feel like she was an open book, whose secrets were being read one by one.
"I didn’t see anything about your future," Tianna stated. "However, you should be careful. Don’t open that gate unless it’s your last resort."
"I see..." Leone nodded in understanding.
Since Tianna didn’t see anything aside from the black gate, he decided not to pry any further.
"Well then. It’s my turn, right?" Leone took out a small pouch filled with bones.
He then sat on the ground and asked Tianna to sit as well.
"I don’t usually say this, but I’m an expert in bone reading." Leone flipped his hair with confidence.
"Uh... okay." Tianna blinked.
She was no stranger to bone reading since most shamans used this method to do divination. However, not all shamans were powerful enough to really see what lay beyond the veil of destiny.
Even Gundar had asked Leone to teach him bone reading, for the young man’s ability was truly above the norm.
"Hold this pouch," Leone ordered.
Tianna obeyed and held the pouch. Leone then took a handful of bones from it before tossing it to the ground.
He then looked at the bones before starting his bone reading.
"Interesting..." Leone muttered while rubbing his chin. "I didn’t know you were a hopeless romantic."
"H-Hopeless?" Tianna looked at Leone anxiously. "What do you mean?"
Leone then pointed at some bones that were close to each other.
"Here, it says that you’ve been pining for someone for more than a year," Leone replied. "A first crush you’ve always thought of fondly. Fortunately for you, whoever this person is seems to be also thinking of you."
"Really?" Tianna’s expression immediately became serious after hearing Leone’s reply.
"Yes, he thinks of you at least once a day," Leone answered.
"Only once a day?" Tianna asked in return, her voice sounding a bit disappointed.
"Girl, if a guy thinks of you once a day, you should already be happy. At least, he does it every day." Leone shook his head helplessly. "Also, the feeling is mutual. Both of you fell in love with each other at first sight... Damn... I wish both of you step on sh*t."
’Leone, your inner thoughts are leaking out.’ Daedalus reminded.
Tianna sneaked a glance at Jason before cupping her face with her hands. She was doing her best not to smile happily because she didn’t want others to think she was a weird person.
Yet, after hearing that her beloved was also thinking of her, how could she not feel happy?
"It seems that there is a big obstacle that is going to prevent the two of you from being together." Leone frowned. "This... obstacle is so strong that no ordinary means can remove it.
"There is even a chance that the two of you might not have a happy ending unless a power that defies destiny intervenes. I didn’t want to say this, but the one you love has a very high chance of dying... In fact, it is almost guaranteed that he is going to die."
Tianna pressed her hand over her chest, as if to forcefully calm her beating heart. She could also feel a dull ache within her, as if Leone’s words were a prophecy that would eventually come to pass.
"Then, what is that power?" Tianna asked, her face turning pale. "Where can I find that power that can defy destiny?"
"You must really love that person, huh?" Leone sighed. "What a lucky guy."
Jason, who had been silent the entire time, also felt like a sort of crisis had come out of nowhere.
The young man was confused because the sudden sense of anxiety, foreboding, and loss was something he had never felt before.
He just felt like someone sacred to him was about to be taken away.
Leone then observed the other bone patterns, hoping to find the answer to Tianna’s question.
He also didn’t like to see bad endings, so he did his best to check the bones if there were any hints on how to overcome this tragedy.
"You will find a forbidden power capable of saving someone that is only a breath away from death," Leone said. "However, fate always seeks balance. A life reclaimed today will one day call another into this world."
"What do you mean?" Tianna asked.
"I also don’t know what I’m talking about," Leone admitted. "If anything, that is just how I interpreted the pattern of these bones. Still, the person you love... will be in grave danger very soon. A danger strong enough to claim his life."
A brief moment of silence passed before Tianna finally gained the calmness to speak.
"How accurate are your bone readings?" Tianna asked.
"Very accurate," Jason answered before his chieftain could. "Our Great Chieftain’s bone readings always come to pass."
"Are you sure?" Tianna asked in a serious tone. "Can you stake your life on it?"
"Yes," Jason replied without hesitation. "Our Great Chieftain takes bone reading seriously."
Leone lightly rubbed his nose because Jason’s praise made him feel good. Yet, he also felt worried for some reason.
He had no idea who Tianna’s first love was.
But whoever he was, it seemed that they weren’t meant to be.
Unknown to the three teenagers who were lost in their thoughts, a few bones started to move from the ground.
Little by little, they formed the constellation of the lion, radiating a faint power that might just change Tianna and her beloved’s destiny.
