The sky burned with battle as bursts of flame erupted one after another. The alien flying saucers did not simply wait to be destroyed. In an instant, they flashed into the atmosphere and attempted to launch a counterattack.

Meanwhile, several elongated subcraft flew out of a massive mothership and swooped toward Finn on the ground, attempting to seize the alien hostage.

Several bright white beams shot from their tails, but Finn’s Profound Energy shield blocked every one.

The elongated craft formed a ring and circled above Finn’s head.

The Holy Pontiff, Alistair Rupert, stood frozen nearby, staring up at the fierce battle between the flying saucers and the steel mechs.

His mouth hung open, and his eyes were wide. Everything happening before him had already gone far beyond anything he could comprehend.

More white light poured down, engulfing Finn, Olivia, and the Holy Pontiff.

“Ah!” Holy Pontiff Alistair let out a shrill scream and burned to ash in the white light. The already scorched earth turned to black ash once again.

Finn maintained his Profound Energy shield around Olivia and the alien hostage. Neither of them suffered any harm.

A towering mech raised the huge cannon mounted on its shoulder. A wave of plasma sprayed from the muzzle like fire and swept across the sky, destroying the ring of elongated craft.

The great battle lasted less than five minutes before the outcome was decided.

The Iron-Blooded Human Supremacy Guard won a crushing victory. One flying saucer after another was shot down and crashed into the ground.

When the battle in the sky ended, the steel giants flew higher and farther. Beyond the atmosphere, an interstellar mothership belonging to the Guard waited to receive them.

Meanwhile, one mech slowly flew toward Finn, using antigravity to hover.

The mech was enormous, with an archaic and imposing design. Its rounded head fit seamlessly into its torso, while its diamond-shaped eyes gleamed like golden lamps. Its armor consisted of countless overlapping scales, giving it the appearance of the Iron Pagoda armor worn by the elite heavy cavalry of the ancient Jurchen Jin dynasty.

(Below are reference images for this armor (non-AI images).)

The towering steel giant landed, its tremendous weight making the earth tremble.

The scales over its chest spread apart, and a man leaped out. An auspicious cloud carried him down before Finn.

He wore a skintight, high-tech uniform. His face was broad and square, his chest muscular, and his build powerful.

Finn knew him.

He was Zane-Shawndrew, General of Inspiring Might of the Iron-Blooded Human Supremacy Guard.

“Finn, it’s been years. I never thought you’d still be wandering through the myriad worlds.” Zane-Shawndrew smiled and shook Finn’s hand.

“I’ve grown used to freedom. I can’t settle down anymore. Thanks for coming this time. Otherwise, everyone on this planet would have been wiped out.”

“No, it’s what we ought to do,” Zane-Shawndrew said seriously.

He knew full well that it would have been impossible for this alien fleet to kill Finn. Even setting aside Finn’s formidable defenses, Celestial Sojourners were second to none when it came to escaping.

If that happened, the aliens would vent their anger on the humans of this planet, making them suffer for a disaster they had nothing to do with.

And Celestial Sojourners rarely felt guilty about such things. To put it bluntly, people like them did not care whether other worlds lived or died. They could cause a world-shaking mess, leave it behind, and disappear without sparing a thought for the devastation in their wake.

The fact that Finn had contacted the Iron-Blooded Human Supremacy Guard and asked them to save this planet’s humans already showed that he had more conscience than most.

“How about it?” Zane-Shawndrew asked proudly. “Are our mechs cool or what?”

“They are. Really cool!” Finn praised them sincerely.

Whatever else could be said, they had solved a huge problem for him. He could afford to praise them.

“Interested in joining the Iron-Blooded Human Supremacy Guard?” Zane-Shawndrew coaxed. “Once you join us, you’ll get a mech just as cool as these. Of course, it definitely won’t be as cool as my Iron Butcher War God!”

“Hmm... I’ll think about it for a while,” Finn replied evasively.

“All right. I’ll wait for your answer.” Zane-Shawndrew laughed heartily. He also understood that this was not something he could force.

Olivia looked at the steel giant with awe. Everything happening before her had shattered her view of life and her worldview.

When she had first learned that Holy Radiance was an alien, her once-simple worldview had been crumpled again and again, like a blank sheet of paper.

Now, many astonishing steel giants had appeared and ground that damaged worldview into powder once more—as though the crumpled sheet had been thrown into a shredder and reduced to scraps.

She carefully hid behind Finn, with only half her head showing. She secretly watched the towering mech, curious yet afraid to look directly at it.

Zane-Shawndrew pointed at her. “Who’s this? A native of this planet?”

“This is Olivia Hill, my attendant.” Finn stepped aside so Zane-Shawndrew could see her clearly.

“Whoa! She’s a real beauty!” Zane-Shawndrew’s eyes lit up, and he grinned. “You’ve fallen for her looks, haven’t you? Don’t sleep with her and then cast her aside.”

“Ahem. She and I have a perfectly respectable master-servant relationship. I’ll be taking her away from this world.”

“No need to explain—I understand!” Zane-Shawndrew clapped Finn on the shoulder and spoke in a booming voice. “A man ought to roam the sea of stars, drink the strongest liquor, fuck the wildest dog, and get the most expensive rabies shot!”

Finn and Zane-Shawndrew were speaking in a language Olivia did not understand, so she had no idea what they were discussing.

A small shuttle descended from the sky and slowly touched down. Its blue-and-white hatch slid open, and a Rottweiler jumped out.

Finn stared at the dog in bewilderment. He could not understand why a dog had just emerged from the shuttle.

The Rottweiler had a powerful build and glossy black fur. Its limbs were thick and strong, and every step was steady and imposing, carrying the bearing of a dragon or tiger.

“Is this your new pet?” Finn asked in surprise.

Zane-Shawndrew hurriedly waved his hands. “No, no, no! This is my new concubine, Pehn-Marnmae. Marnmae, say hello to everyone.”

The Rottweiler walked over to Zane-Shawndrew’s side and spoke in a human voice.

“Hello, everyone.”

Finn had no idea what to say.

He suddenly remembered what Zane-Shawndrew had just told him: a man ought to drink the strongest liquor and fuck the wildest dog...

The wildest dog...

Finn fell silent.

Seeing Finn’s stunned expression, Zane-Shawndrew hurriedly said, “Marnmae, don’t stay in your beast form all the time. People keep getting the wrong idea.”

“But you like me this way,” the Rottweiler complained in a coy, feminine voice.

The dog’s entire body rippled and transformed. It rose upright onto two legs as its features reshaped themselves into a beautiful, coolly aloof oval face. She wore tight leather shorts and sheer black stockings.

In the blink of an eye, the Rottweiler had transformed into a tall, aloof beauty.

Olivia’s eyes went wide. She was completely stunned.

Finn, on the other hand, had seen enough strange things that he was no longer surprised.
