Chapter 136 - 136 Team Battle
136 Team Battle
Qiao Yue originally thought that Xu Hao’s team was just for fun. After all, the rich kids in Harvey Academy had family businesses to inherit. How many of them would put their time and energy into a game?
Xu Hao chuckled and said, “That’s what I was thinking. I was going to try it out myself and tell everyone about it after participating in the competition. But now, things are different. It’s a good time to ride on your popularity.”
Qiao Yue was surprised. “Did your family approve?”
“My brother will hold the fort. My parents won’t interfere in a trifle like this,” Xu Hao said, scratching his head.
There is much to be said about a person’s personality and life at home. Compared to the Qiao family, Xu Hao’s family was much more harmonious.
Qiao Yue giggled at the sight of Xu Hao’s dazed look. Forget it. Matters regarding her mother could not be rushed. She might as well take the opportunity to relax.
“So… How do you plan to ride on my wave of popularity?” Qiao Yue quirked a brow, addressing the elephant in the room.
Xu Hao’s eyes lit up. “Are you willing to help us?”
Qiao noted Xu Hao’s use of ‘us’ and turned to Qiao Yu. Qiao Yu looked away. It seemed Xu Hao had managed to persuade Qiao Yu to tag along.
“I don’t mind helping you, but I don’t want anything to do outside of playing the game. Anything else is too much of a hassle,” Qiao Yue said.
Xu Hao agreed easily. “No problem! We were planning on live streaming a few matches. With your skills, it would be even better!”
“No!” Before Xu Hao could finish, Qiao Yue rejected his suggestion.
“I don’t want to show my face on a live stream.”
Qiao Yue knew her identity was a little complicated and would invite trouble should her face become known to the public.
Xu Hao mulled over his options and sighed. “But… that’s such a waste! If you don’t want to show your face… You can be our team’s mysterious playmaker!”
Though Xu Hao’s weird words were funny, Qiao Yue suppressed the urge to laugh. She did not want to aggravate her injury.
Xu Hao was still going on about his plans for the team when Qiao Yu suddenly interrupted him, “That mid-lane mage is back at it. They’ve sent us another friend invite.”
Qiao Yue tilted her head in askance. “Are you talking about the mage we crushed?”
Qiao Yu furrowed his brows, nodding. Although Qiao Yue did not make it a point to target her lane opponent, Qiao Yu was not the same. He reaped the enemy’s life mercilessly. He did not expect that they would return looking for him.
“Should we accept her invite?” Qiao Yu asked Qiao Yue.
“Huh?”
Why was Qiao Yu asking her? Wasn’t this something he could decide himself?
Qiao Yue was still confused even when Xu Hao said, “Accept it. Of course, you should accept it. While the two of you distract her, I’ll check out their live stream to see how she’s using your popularity to boost attention for her.”
Qiao Yue rolled her eyes. Even if he had not said it, Xu Hao’s intentions were clear. He wanted to use her to scout the competition.
Having reached a consensus, Qiao Yu pressed the ‘agree’ button, joining the lobby with Qiao Yue in tow.
As soon as Qiao Yue entered the room, she saw a message from Rabbit Sauce.
[ Rabbit Sauce: YU, I’m sorry about before. I didn’t think you would get into a tiff with Scorching Sun over me. ]
Scorching Sun was the IGN of the jungle player that Qiao Yue and Qiao Yu faced in the game. For reasons unclear to Qiao Yue, Rabbit Sauce brought up the topic again.
Qiao Yue’s eyes sparkled mischievously as she snuck a glance at Qiao Yu. Her senses told her that some juicy gossip was ripe for the picking. Since she had not been online for a few days, Qiao Yue wondered if Rabbit Sauce was referring to some new interaction that had occurred without her knowledge.
Feeling Qiao Yue’s eyes on him, Qiao Yu looked up with a frown.
“What are you looking at?” Qiao Yu’s expression as he raised his head was one of abject depression.
“Oh? Are you in close contact with this streamer?” Qiao Yue asked with great interest.
“No. I don’t know why they’d raise this,” Qiao Yue answered.
Qiao Yue was a little disappointed. She had thought she stumbled on something fun to watch…
[ YU: It’s not because of you. I don’t like people who betray their teammates. ]
Qiao Yu remained silent. He was not about to admit that all he had done was because of a grudge.
[ Rabbit Sauce: Can I still play with you in the future? ]
[ YU: Open. ]
Qiao Yu avoided Rabbit Sauce’s question, responding extremely coldly.
Qiao Yue teased, “You’re so cold and heartless. Please be careful not to hurt other girls.”
Qiao Yu did not want to have anything to do with Rabbit Sauce. Quite frankly, he was sick of her. He was only doing what he was doing because Xu Hao asked him to accept her invitation to gain more data through her live stream. With no other choice, he teamed up with Rabbit Sauce again.
