Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Airport Ticket Check
Fu City Changle International Airport, or Fu City Airport for short, is located on Changle Zhanggang Beach, southeast of Fu City and about 35 kilometers from the city center. Multiple airport buses run around the clock between the city and the airport, with the trip taking about thirty to forty minutes.
On the wide concrete highway, streetlights lined both sides as cars drove along the road.
Ye Xing sped along in his Porsche 911, arriving at Fu City Changle International Airport in about twenty minutes.
The airport terminal was spacious and bright, bustling with travelers carrying bags and pulling suitcases.
Ye Xing’s flight was at 10:00 AM, and it was already past nine. Time was tight, but he could still make it.
The departure lounge was already crowded with all sorts of travelers waiting—men and women, young and old.
Boarding hadn’t started yet, so Ye Xing found two empty seats in a corner. He sat in one and placed his backpack on the other.
’Why hasn’t boarding started yet? Whatever, I’ll read a novel for a bit.’ Ye Xing pulled out his phone, swiped the screen, and tapped open the Qidian app. He lowered his head and started to read.
Ye Xing scrolled through the novel, page after page.
Suddenly, a fragrant breeze drifted by—a faint, pleasant scent of roses that was utterly refreshing.
"Hello, sir. Is anyone sitting next to you?"
A clear female voice sounded by his ear.
Ye Xing couldn’t help but look up. The speaker was a blonde, blue-eyed woman of about twenty-five or twenty-six. Dressed in a leather jacket and matching pants, she had a fiery figure. To his surprise, this foreign woman spoke flawless, fluent Mandarin.
"No, this seat is free. Go ahead," Ye Xing said, moving his backpack from the seat next to him onto his lap.
"Thank you!" she said politely before sitting down next to Ye Xing.
Ye Xing returned to his novel, once again engrossed.
About five or six minutes later, a commotion broke out in the crowd up ahead; the gate agents had started boarding. With a sudden bustle, the crowd surged forward, and Ye Xing moved with them to line up at the gate.
The crowd of passengers was large, and since the flight was bound for New York, United States, it was a diverse group. There were not only Chinese travelers but also many foreigners, including Black and white passengers.
The line formed into two rows. Two gate agents worked with lightning-fast hands, checking one ticket after another, and it was soon Ye Xing’s turn.
One after another, passengers had their tickets checked. A shuttle bus was waiting at the gate to take them to the plane.
The shuttle’s doors were open, and Ye Xing squeezed aboard along with the rest of the crowd.
As more passengers finished boarding, they all flooded onto the shuttle. Before long, it was completely packed. The doors struggled to close, and then the shuttle started moving, heading across the tarmac toward the plane.
The shuttle was extremely crowded. Everyone was packed shoulder-to-shoulder, one hand gripping the straps hanging from the overhead rails.
Ye Xing had hoped to continue reading on the shuttle, but it was too crowded and the ride was too bumpy. He gave up on the idea and put his phone away.
Suddenly, Ye Xing’s eyes shifted to something ahead of him, and he frowned.
About a meter ahead, he saw a Black man stealthily reaching for the pocket of the blonde woman in leather.
’He’s got some nerve, trying to steal something here.’ A glint flashed in Ye Xing’s eyes. ’Well, I’m bored. Might as well stick my nose in.’ He took two steps forward, pushed through the crowd, and grabbed the Black man’s hand.
The man’s hand was moments from success, the wallet easily within his reach.
Just then, he suddenly found his hand frozen in place, caught in a grip as tight as an iron clamp. He couldn’t budge it an inch.
"Fuck, you got a death wish? Mind your own damn business!" the man hissed at Ye Xing, his eyes flashing with menace.
"Heh, maybe I just like sticking my nose in other people’s business. So what? You gonna do something about it?" A cold, disdainful smirk played on Ye Xing’s lips. "Trying to steal something and then threatening me when you get caught? Heh, you’ve got some balls."
Ye Xing hadn’t been quiet, and his voice drew the attention of the surrounding passengers, who started to gather around. The man was clearly intimidated. He quickly retreated to a corner, not daring to make another peep.
Just then, the woman in the leather outfit noticed the commotion behind her. She turned to look and then said to Ye Xing, "Thank you very much!"
