’’AMBUSH! THERE’S AN AMBU—’’

’’UGH!’’

The shout quickly faded away.

Roderic’s eyes snapped wide open.

’What?!’ he thought, jumping to his feet.

He hadn’t taken a step outside his tent when chaos erupted outside.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

’’PROTECT THE YOUNG MASTER!’’

’’WAKE EVERYONE UP!’’

Familiar voices shouted over one another as the sound of weapons colliding filled the clearing.

Roderic didn’t bother changing.

The exhaustion from earlier was still there, but the sudden rush of adrenaline had long pushed it to the back of his mind.

He grabbed hold of his Azure Blades and dashed out of his tent.

’Who the fuck is attacking us?’ he thought, quickly glancing around.

His expression quickly changed as he noticed the scene around him.

It was utter chaos.

Dozens of dark figures were rushing into the camp from between the surrounding trees.

Several Whitemane knights had already intercepted them, blue aura flashing across the darkness as swords violently collided.

Even the soldiers had sprung into action, risking their lives against opposing Aura Knights.

’’Fuck!’’ Roderic cursed, dashing forward.

There were a lot of them, and they definitely weren’t ordinary bandits!

But before he could reach the nearest fight, a painful scream rang out through the camp.

’’ARGGHHH!’’

Roderic’s head snapped towards the sound.

One of the younger knights, Raymond, stumbled backwards.

His sword fell to the ground... or rather, the entire arm holding the sword.

Blood continued pouring from the stump as the young man barely remained standing.

Three enemies immediately closed in around him.

Roderic’s expression shifted instantly.

’No you fucking don’t!’

WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

Both hooked blades shot through the air.

At the same time, the ground beneath his feet cracked.

BOOM!

Blue aura wrapped itself around his legs.

His body shot forward at speeds he’d never reached before.

As he dashed forward, both Azure Hooked Blades reached the surrounding knights.

The first man never even saw it coming.

SHHK!

One of the blades plunged straight through his chest.

The second knight caught sight of the other blade at the last possible moment.

His eyes widened slightly.

’’What the—’’

He desperately raised his sword as his instincts screamed at him.

CLANG!

The hooked blade scratched against the sword... but it wasn’t enough.

’’GGHK!’’

It cut through half the man’s throat, spurting blood into the air.

The man raised his hand, his eyes widening.

But after a second, he lost all signs of life.

’’What the hell?!’’

The final knight spun around immediately, searching for whoever had launched the weapons.

But Roderic had already closed the distance.

Seeing his figure, the knight froze for a split second.

His gaze dropped towards Roderic’s hands, finding them completely empty.

A light flashed through his eyes instantly.

’That’s the target, and he’s unarmed!’

An overwhelming excitement ran through him.

The knight raised his sword and rushed forward right away, his mind racing.

’I can finally retire my mother after thi—’

SHHK! SHHK!

Two Azure Blades suddenly burst through the back of his skull.

His entire head exploded like a watermelon.

Roderic barely blinked as blood splattered across his face.

WHOOSH!

He raised his hands, allowing both blades to perfectly return to them.

’I fucking love this talent!’ he thought.

But there was no time to admire it.

Raymond was still bleeding heavily behind him.

Roderic spun around instantly.

’’Raymond!’’

The young knight looked towards him, his face deathly pale and his eyes unclear.

’’Y-Young master...’’

Roderic crouched down in front of the young knight.

He’d come to know all of them quite well over the course of the journey.

But as much as he wished to personally tend to his wounds, Roderic knew he just couldn’t do that.

’’Go back to the servants and have your wounds cauterized,’’ he ordered. ’’After that, protect them from any that slip through.’’

Raymond’s unclear eyes vanished.

He gritted his teeth as he clutched the bleeding stump with his remaining hand.

’’Understood!’’

His entire body trembled from the pain, but he still turned and stumbled towards the servants without another word.

Roderic watched him for only a second.

Then his attention returned to the battle.

CLANG! CLANG!

’This is bad.’

Now that he had a moment to properly look around, the difference in numbers became painfully obvious.

There had to be at least three times as many attackers as Whitemane fighters.

And worse, whoever had organized this clearly knew what they were doing.

Their knights were keeping his own occupied while groups of soldiers continuously pushed deeper into the camp.

’We need to get organized. NOW!’

Roderic immediately raised one of his blades.

’’WHITEMANE!’’ he roared.

Several nearby knights glanced towards him from the corners of their eyes.

’’Stop spreading out! Form around the carriages and force them to come to us!’’

The knights reacted immediately.

Even while fending off attacks, they gradually began retreating.

Roderic nodded once.

’Now that they’re gathering up,’ he thought, narrowing his eyes, ’it’ll be my time!’

Without hesitation, he dashed forward towards the nearest enemies.

Two ordinary enemy soldiers were ganging up on one of his soldiers.

Neither noticed Roderic approaching.

SHHK!

His right blade tore through the first man’s neck.

Before the body even hit the ground, Roderic kicked the second soldier square in the chest.

CRACK!

The man flew backwards uncontrollably and crashed into two more attackers.

’Good,’ Roderic thought, bursting forth.

A golden aura gathered around his right hooked blade instantly.

As he closed the distance, he swung out.

WHOOSH!

A massive golden arc tore through the field ahead.

Several attackers, whether ordinary soldiers or One Seal Knights, were cleaved in half before they could even react.

The arc continued for another two meters before finally disappearing.

But it’d made its mark.

Several attackers in the surrounding area couldn’t help but freeze.

Only Roderic stared at the destruction with a cold smile.

’’COME ON THEN!’’ he roared, spreading his arms. ’’WHICH ONE OF YOU FUCKERS WANTS TO DIE NEXT?!’’

The attackers closest to Roderic stared at the bodies scattered around him.

Not a single one dared to step forward.

Roderic’s smile slowly disappeared.

’’NO ONE?!’’ he roared. ’’THEN WHY THE FUCK DID YOU COME HERE?!’’
