Barely three hours had passed since Roderic had fallen asleep.

BWOOOOOOOO!

A deep, thunderous horn echoed across Whitemane City.

’’Ugh...’’

Roderic groaned, burying his face deeper into his pillow.

His ears rang while a sharp pain shot through his head.

BWOOOOOOOO!

’’For fuck’s sake...’’

He slowly opened his eyes.

For a moment, he simply stared at the ceiling.

’’Already...?’’ he mumbled quietly. ’’My aura hasn’t even fully recovered.’’

KNOCK! KNOCK!

Before he could mutter another complaint, a desperate voice rang out from behind his door.

’’Young master!’’ Edmund shouted. ’’The enemy has started marching!’’

Letting out a miserable sigh, Roderic forced himself out of bed.

’’I’m awake!’’ he shouted back, rubbing his head. ’’I’ll be there as soon as possible!’’

Edmund didn’t say another word.

All Roderic heard were his footsteps rushing through the hallways outside.

’’Pffff...’’

Roderic let out a deep breath as he rubbed his face with both hands.

’It’s my life on Earth all over again,’ he thought. ’Only this time, my body isn’t even used to the lack of sleep. Fuck my life.’

Forcing himself up straight, he immediately walked over towards the basin.

After splashing some cold water on his face, Roderic finally felt freshened up.

’Alright,’ he thought, stretching his body. ’Let’s see what those clowns are pulling.’

Quickly putting on some clothes, he reached over to the place his Azure Hooked Blades usually rested.

Except... they weren’t there.

’’Fuck!’’ he cursed angrily. ’’I completely forgot about that.’’

During the chase, he’d thrown his azure blades at the ropes just to make sure they snapped.

But he’d never had the chance to pick them back up!

’’That damn weapon recall trait is fucking useless too,’’ he muttered, shaking his head. ’’That old knight I fought in the village shattered the connection like it was nothing.’’

Roderic thought about it some more.

It wasn’t right to call the trait useless, but it had certainly shown its limitations.

’Well, whatever.’

He could worry about finding a better alternative later.

For now, he quickly needed to replace his weapons.

With a thought, Roderic opened the system shop.

WHOOSH!

A familiar blue screen appeared before his eyes.

His gaze immediately moved towards the weapons section.

’Let’s see...’

After adding two filters, several familiar options appeared in front of him.

—————World Throne Equipment—————

Filter: [Twin hook blades], [Twin Dragon Hook Technique]

> Twin Tiger Hook Blades - Mortal Rank - 1 Throne Coin

For a moment, Roderic’s gaze lingered on the heaven-rank blade.

Then he shook his head.

’I need to hang onto my coins for now,’ he thought, eyes narrowing. ’Just in case something like that chase happens and there are no traps nearby...’

Without hesitating any longer, he selected the Azure Twin Hook Blades.

[Ding! Purchase successful!]

A moment later, two familiar blades materialized before him.

Roderic caught them by their handles.

SWISH! SWISH!

He gave them a few experimental swings.

’Very good.’

They felt exactly the same as his previous weapons.

’I’ll upgrade these once I’ve found an alternative for my weapon recall,’ he thought. ’Throwing away three thousand coins isn’t my taste after all.’

Satisfied, Roderic strapped the blades to his waist.

Then, just as he was about to head towards the door, his gaze wandered towards the window.

’Well then, to make up for some of the lost time...’

A small grin appeared on his face.

He rushed over to the window and swung his leg out.

BANG!

The window flew off its hinges, wood splintering everywhere.

’I’ll be taking the easy route outside!’

Without another thought, Roderic climbed onto the windowsill and jumped.

WHOOSH!

The cold morning air rushed past his face as he fell two stories.

Landing firmly on the ground below, he immediately broke into a sprint.

’’Hehehe...’’

Roderic chuckled to himself as he raced towards the walls.

It didn’t take long before Roderic reached the eastern wall.

Even from a distance, he could hear the shouting of soldiers.

’’Hurry up! Get those arrows up there!’’

’’We need more on the northern section!’’

Dozens of men were rushing back and forth, carrying large bundles of arrows and other supplies up the stone staircases.

Roderic quickly made his way past them.

As he reached the top, a tremendous sight greeted him.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

Hundreds of arrows flew through the air, raining down upon the approaching Deres army.

However, most were stopped by the enormous shields the enemy soldiers carried above their heads.

’Damn...’

Roderic narrowed his eyes.

Beyond the walls, thousands of soldiers were slowly advancing across the fields.

Some carried ladders, while others were pushing enormous wooden siege machines towards the city.

And behind them?

Thousands more soldiers and knights were slowly walking forward in formation.

’They certainly managed to reorganize themselves fast,’ he thought.

His expression slowly grew serious.

Because everything had been going well so far, he’d almost let himself get overconfident.

’This isn’t a joke,’ he thought, slapping himself on his cheeks. ’Wake the fuck up.’

Just then, a familiar voice rang out beside him.

’’Roderic!’’

Turning around, Roderic spotted Arthur standing a short distance away.

With a serious expression, Arthur raised his arm and gestured for him to come over.

Roderic made his way over without hesitation.

’’Everyone,’’ he greeted with a nod. ’’How’s the situation looking?’’

’’Could be better,’’ Arthur replied, his eyes fixed on the battlefield. ’’Could be worse.’’

He paused for a moment before continuing.

’’There’s been no sign of Aldric himself or his knights yet. So far, they’ve only sent their infantry forward.’’

Roderic raised an eyebrow.

His gaze slowly drifted outside as well.

’’And the siege equipment?’’ he asked slowly.

’’Six siege towers and four battering rams,’’ Captain Harris answered. ’’They’re keeping them behind their shield formations for now.’’

Roderic fell silent for a moment.

Aldric’s intentions were as clear as day to him and everybody else present.

’They’re keeping their strongest fighters in reserve while testing our defenses,’ he thought. ’This won’t be an easy siege...’

He clicked his tongue in annoyance.

Just then, another horn echoed across the battlefield.

BWOOOOO!

The enemy formations began picking up their pace.

Roderic’s eyes narrowed right away.

’Let’s wait and see...’
