Chapter 1309: This Isnt How It Was Planned
The street fell silent for two seconds, then a gentle voice rang out: “I didn’t expect to be discovered so quickly…”
The light flickered, and a figure stepped out from the shadows not far away. Compared to the ragged hunchback zombie, this figure was clearly much more “normal.” She wore a white ankle-length dress, barefoot, with hair reaching her thighs casually draped behind her head. What was astonishing was that her hair was also silver-white, except for a pair of eyes as red as blood, shining with a chilling cold gleam.
Her appearance and figure, like her aura, had evolved to a remarkably perfect level. Only the terrifying aura she exuded at this moment made it easy to overlook her beauty.
“Not just you… Have your companion come out as well.” The hunchback zombie stood still, rasping out another sentence.
“Impressive.” Another figure emerged from a different shadow.
She too was a female zombie, but her outfit was much more casual than her companion’s. Denim shorts, a T-shirt, sandals on her feet. But whether on her exposed arms and legs or her clothes, there were stains of what looked like fresh blood. In addition, the fire axe she carried and the bloody smile on her sweet face made her look extremely dangerous.
“Chuchu, that must be the foreign zombie, right? Hmm… Smells pretty strong. Should be worth Chuchu making a real move. But I still hope I can strike first.”
“Ting. Calm down.” Chuchu interrupted Ting, and although Ting shut her mouth, her crazed eyes remained fixed on the hunchback zombie, occasionally letting out unconscious giggles.
“Chuchu… Ting… I’ve heard of you.” Facing their obvious hostility, the hunchback zombie remained calm. After a brief recollection, it said, “You’re with the alliance… Rising rapidly in a short time, that’s quite an achievement in X City. According to our analysis, you, Chuchu, are the most likely to advance to Lord of the City under the Spider Queen.”
“Of course, there’s another one not far behind you… Heh, that pitiful Spider Queen. If she hadn’t chosen the wrong path, she’d probably already be Lord of the City, and her position wouldn’t be so unstable.”
As it spoke, the hunchback zombie’s joints suddenly crackled like firecrackers. Then its hunched body abruptly straightened, and the previously deformed figure instantly transformed into a skeleton-like form, nearly three meters tall, with a massive frame but so thin it was skin and bones.
“‘Gigantification’ and ‘Iron Bones,’ I possess two evolution systems. Remember my name. I am Da Feng. Now, die!”
After Da Feng’s body transformed, its voice amplified several times, sounding like a howling wind. It raised its arm high and smashed it down toward Chuchu and Ting.
“Boom!”
Before the fist even landed, a sharp sonic boom exploded around Da Feng’s body. Its name was truly fitting.
But such a fist, powerful enough to punch through a wall, only made Ting burst into near-maniacal laughter. One moment she was motionless, the next she dodged the fist and swung her axe along Da Feng’s arm.
Chuchu’s move was even simpler. She didn’t even dodge, just raised her hand and met Da Feng’s much larger palm with her own, several times smaller.
“Bang!”
A sonic boom erupted from Chuchu’s side, but neither moved an inch. On Ting’s side, a line of blood spurted out, and she was knocked back by the recoil, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
“Hahaha…” Ting wiped her mouth, then sucked her bloodied fingers. She hefted her axe and charged again.
“Roar!”
At the Parking Lot entrance, the “Titan” that had just gotten up was furiously grappling with the common zombies, while Old Gou kept up low-altitude attacks, searching everywhere for suspicious figures. ř𝓪NỌᛒĚṨ
Although it had personally torn that guy apart, it felt certain that wasn’t the real one. This feeling was unreliable-if it were a human, they’d dismiss it in their reasoning. But zombies act on instinct, and in its rage, Old Gou’s hard-won “rationality” had been replaced by pure instinct.
“Come out! Get out here! I’ll tear you apart piece by piece and stuff you into my belly!”
In the bushes, Ling Mo’s observation deck Number Three was coldly watching Old Gou flying overhead, when suddenly an unusual commotion came from the other end of the street.
The sound drew closer and closer, and even Old Gou paused, hovering in the air to look toward the source.
“It’s Da Feng…” Old Gou muttered to itself.
Ling Mo quickly turned to look… and was stunned.
“This…” His face darkened, “Didn’t expect there’d be even more advanced zombies… That skeleton-like one must be the foreign zombie, so the other two… must be from the alliance…”
Ling Mo quickly analyzed the situation, then calmed himself: “Though things are getting more out of hand, at least one thing matches the plan. They’re fighting, just as expected. That means we still have a chance to fish in troubled waters. But with the battle escalating, staying in the building may not be safe-we’ll have to be even more careful…”
At this moment, the zombies inside the building were also drawn to the three Senior Zombies now in view.
This escalating scene was far more exciting than they’d expected…
“That zombie is probably King level…” Xia Na commented grimly, “The one fighting it may not be as evolved, but its body variation is astonishing.”
Yuwen Xuan had been watching from afar, but now he couldn’t help but take out his binoculars. At first he kept exclaiming, but as he watched, he suddenly fell silent.
“Hm? What’s wrong?” Xu Shuhan keenly noticed his change and asked curiously, “Did you get scared silly? Don’t worry, if there’s danger, Ling Mo will…”
But Yuwen Xuan had already put down the binoculars. He turned his face, startling Xu Shuhan.
The man who always seemed overly cheerful was now pale, lips trembling, as if he’d seen something truly terrifying.
Ling Mo, who was observing through Xia Na’s vision from the floor-to-ceiling window, also sensed something was off.
But before he or Xu Shuhan could react, Yuwen Xuan suddenly threw down the binoculars and bolted for the door.
“Yuwen Xuan, where are you going!” Xu Shuhan cried out in shock. That look on his face was definitely not just a bathroom emergency.
Xia Na and the others immediately turned, staring at the wide-open, swinging door, all a bit baffled.
This scene was also relayed to Li Yalin’s mind through Black Silk. She stood up from the Rooftop where she was with Ling Mo’s main body, gazing blankly toward the building.
Though not human, Li Yalin could vaguely sense something from Yuwen Xuan’s abnormal behavior.
And that feeling came straight out of her mouth: “Ling Mo, I think… he’s going to do something very dangerous.”
After speaking, she suddenly looked down at Ling Mo, a strange look flashing in her eyes: “I don’t know why… but Ling Mo, I feel like I should go… but really, I don’t know why…”
Ling Mo paused, then nodded: “Of course. I’m already intercepting him.”
But even as he said this, Ling Mo’s heart was unsettled. Li Yalin’s instinctive intuition meant Yuwen Xuan really was about to do something extremely dangerous, but… what exactly had happened to him?
