My Favorite Game Followed Me!
Chapter 958
While waiting for the sea elves to return, Anton thought about what he could use to trade for the Purple Corals. He could buy them with gold coins or mana stones. He had plenty of both from trading his movies with the Meronoma elves.
If the sea elves weren’t interested in gold coins or mana stones, he could trade for the corals using the magic items he had made. However, he suspected the sea elves would only be interested in items that worked well underwater, such as the two types of magic tablets he had created.
The other items probably wouldn’t be very useful to the sea elves because they wouldn’t work well underwater.
If they weren’t interested in his magic items, Anton could use his movies as a means of trade. He thought that, just like the Meronoma elves, the sea elves might be interested in them.
He wasn’t a hundred percent sure about that, though. The culture of people living underwater might be too different from that of people on land, and they might have no interest in stories about land-dwellers, which almost all of his movies and television shows were about.
What irritated Anton was that, after several hours, neither the sea elves he had met nor their representatives had shown themselves. All of his summons had already reported that they had finished searching the nearby area for the Purple Corals.
He was glad when he finally saw the sea elves in the distance.
Once they arrived, they waited for Anton to start the conversation.
Anton was greatly disappointed when the sea elves rebuffed him. They told him that he should try his luck somewhere else. They didn’t know about the resource he was searching for, which meant that the Purple Corals weren’t present anywhere within their territory.
He somewhat believed them because, when he had described the corals to the four sea elves he had met earlier, their expressions had shown that they had no idea what he was talking about.
The sea elves’ territory was huge, which meant Anton would have to travel for several hours before reaching the part of the ocean outside their territory and starting his search for the corals again.
That was also why he hadn’t encountered any significant danger in this part of the ocean. The sea elves patrolled their territory vigorously and dealt with any monsters or creatures that threatened their sovereignty.
Since the elves were firm in asking him to leave and there was no reason for Anton to stay, he complied.
He dismissed all of his summons and cast the Light spell, illuminating the area around him. Anton said goodbye to the elves and started traveling in the direction they had pointed toward—the way out of their territory.
It didn’t really matter to Anton which direction he went because, once he found the corals, he could simply leave directly using his Gate spell.
He started swimming as fast as he could, aided by his Telekinesis spell and offensive spells fired behind him like a jet to boost his speed.
After several hours, the ocean had become truly terrifying. The sheer vastness and darkness evoked a feeling of nightmarish smallness, and for a brief moment, Anton was tempted to leave.
He steeled his courage because he knew that, as a Traveler, he had to learn to gird his loins for whatever challenges he might encounter, even when he stumbled into a frightening environment.
Anton did start thinking that he might have made a mistake in selecting the specific mission he was currently trying to complete. He realized that his biggest mistake had been failing to gather enough information about where he might find the corals.
The ocean was simply too vast for Anton to start searching at random, even with the help of his summons.
It would have been better if he could summon more creatures, such as the Necromancer’s skeleton army. The problem was that doing so required corpses to summon the skeletons.
If he were being honest, Anton could actually summon the Necromancer’s skeleton army if he really wanted to. He could use the corpses of sea creatures to summon Skeleton Warriors and Skeletal Mages. When he had tested it before, even something as small as a dead fish had been enough to let him summon a skeleton.
The problem was that if he had an army of undead with him, any encounter with sentient creatures would start on a negative note. No sane creature would want an army of undead wandering around in their backyard.
Anton summoned all of his summons and commanded them to begin searching for what he wanted. All of them spread out except for the Grizzly, Clay Golem, and Oak Sage, which he kept beside him to alleviate the fearful feeling caused by being surrounded by such a gigantic expanse of deep ocean.
He knew, though, that the best possible solution to his predicament would be for one of his summons to encounter sentient creatures, such as another group of sea elves, merfolk, or any other sentient people living underwater.
Unlike his search for the mithril ore, Anton also started searching himself, even utilizing spells to locate his objective.
He couldn’t do the same thing as before and simply idle inside a tent because the environment was vastly different from land.
Whenever he got hungry, he would use his Energy Shield to form a bubble of air that allowed him to eat and attend to his bodily needs. He was just glad that the Cleaning spell still worked well underwater.
When he got sleepy, he would rest beside his Grizzly, with the Clay Golem and Oak Sage spirit guarding him.
If he started feeling burned out from searching, he would rest his mind by watching a movie, television show, or anime, or by reading a web novel.
He would also spend some time continuing to study the structure of the Gate spell so that he could eventually add it to the fourth skill tab of his Sorceress character.
The main difference between this area and the one beneath the territory of the first group of sea elves he had met was that there were a lot of sea monsters and sea creatures that started attacking him.
Anton was just glad that his spells were powerful enough to drive the sea monsters away. He would only destroy those that persisted in treating him as some kind of snack.
His summons were also frequently attacked by sea monsters and sea beasts, but they were powerful enough to handle their attackers. His summons only had difficulty with the gigantic monsters that attacked them. When that happened, the Valkyrie, Shadow Master, and Shadow Warrior would immediately go wherever the wolf was being attacked and destroy the attacker.
The only summons that weren’t bothered were the Ravens. More than likely, it was because of their small size and speed. They could immediately leave behind anything that attacked them and simply resume their search once their attacker grew tired of chasing them.
Once Anton was fully rested, had alleviated his hunger, thirst, and other bodily needs, or had relieved his mental fatigue, he would join his summons in searching the area.
However, after some time, he started losing hope of finding the Purple Corals by searching for them himself.
Anton also tried searching for wild dungeons because there was a chance he would find what he was looking for inside a dungeon, just like the mithril ore.
