Chapter 142: 142. Negotiations (2)

"I started with the farmer’s lodge and found out soon enough that they can’t fight even a bit. Sending them would mean death. So I handled all the conquests while the farmers farmed." Carlos spoke, soon, coffee came to the table and he took a sip making a satisified exhalee to come next.

"ONe after another, I got and bought barracks with the help of my merchant friend. I got a hearthkeeper barrack too that helps cook and so far, I deal with cooked food with quiet a few lords." He kept speaking.

"Tell me about the attack you faced from the conquest portal, Carlos" Arthur spoke.

Carlos took another sip of the coffee and nodded, "For the 3rd conquest, I had already equipped the hellbound title and decided to challenge one when I had more strength, Uncle. But it did not work as I thought it would, some being from the conquest portal broke free and tried to ruin my whole territory."

Arthur’s eyes widened and he nodded for him to continue, "I had to do a lot of work before at being was finally defeated."

Carlos’s mother looked at him with worry this time, her poker face was gone.

"I see. For a portal to open on it’s own and a being to come out on its own during the beginner period is abnormal. But I think there has been cases like that. All from the Hellbound lords ofcourse." He spoke as he wrote things down.

"Let’s continue, Carlos."

"Yes, after that, I decided to get stronger every hour and collected all kinds of barracks." He spoke.

"How many barracks do you currently possess."

"I have 8 barracks currently, Uncle." Carlos spoke.

Arthur’s pen halted for a moment but he kept writing.

"I see" He spoke, "Then which barrack do you believe to be the best military ones and the same goes for the production." He asked.

Carlos didn’t think of hiding anything at this point, "My strongest one is the Bearkin Guardian Hallbut recently, I have gained one more strong barrack, though I won’t be using it anytime soon." He spoke making Arthur was curious.

"Bearkin Guardians are considered to be good starter troops. I can’t believe someone sold them to you. But you are saying you have something better than that, Carlos. What is it?"

"Marsh Trolls Barrack" Carlos casually spoke which made both his mother and Arthur to look at him with different strong emotions.

"I see" Arthur spoke, before looking at his mother.

"You have brought quite the capable son, Elena. Its only been 30 days and he has things other lords his level would work for months or years to get." He spoke.

Elena just smiled and placed a hand on Carlos’s shoulders. Carlos looked at her and a smile etched on his face, there was pride on his mother’s face. One that Carlos yearned to see all these years.

"Ok, then we will now come to the last part of this discussion. How many troops do you currently possess, Carlos?"

Carlos took some time as he counted it all in his head.

"I have 35 troops with me, Uncle. I have excluded the troops and the lords under me for now."

At that comment, Arthur’s interest was picked yet again as he was starting to end it all.

"... Lords under you?" He asked.

Carlos couldn’t hold his smile this time, he knew he shouldn’t but everything that was happening in front of his mother was making him feel emotions he hadn’t in a while.

"Yes, do you know about the pocket dimension that opened inside the beginner period, Uncle?" Carlos asked and Arthur shook his head in seriousness.

"We get information right away but even then, its only been a hour since everything settled. We don’t know everything." He spoke, Carlos liked his honesty.

"I see" He spoke, "There is a pocket dimension connected to our territories at the moment, it is a different world where already established but broken settlements are there."

At that moment, arthus kept both hands on the table and moved up in shock.

"WERE THERE SETTLERS INSIDE THEM TOO?!" He asked in franticness.

Evelyn also had a serious expression now.

"Err... no. It was empty and we have to fix the areas to get ownership of them."

Arthur heard him and for a moment, he felt disappointed.

"My apologies for being like this. It’s just that having settlers is a valuable thing."

"I see" Carlos didn’t comment further, he wanted to ask why it was but at the same time, he was not interested as there was no settlers to begin with.

"So, have you joined any of the settlements, Carlos? If so, what type is it?" He asked aas if he already knew how the pocket dimensions worked.

Carlos smiled yet again, he liked how he underestimated how well he could do.

"I completed a bunch of requirements and repairs and now I am the owner of an Agricultural District, Uncle. It’s under my control."

There was silence in the room was a long time, Carlos was going to speak again but he could not.

Arthur’s expression showed desperation this time, "Carlos, I want you to work with the Goldwin family as soon as possible." He spoke right away.

Elene squeezed her hand into a fist and Carlos gave her a look, she was shocked. And when there eyes met, Carlos knew what to do forward.

"I am happy to talk about the terms, Uncle" He spoke making Arthur nod at him.

"With what you have told me, I can already put you in the level 4 potential, Carlos. If I do that, then everything you require will be covered by the fmily. You will even he able to meet the whole main family."

Carlos didn’t say anything to that, as much as it sound interesting, Arthur had only said ’if’ and that was not an established term.

"Can you tell me what a level 4 potential is, Uncle. I am ignorant about the ways of the family as me and my mother has been shunned for quite a while now"

Elena looked at Carlos and he quickly kept his hand over hers.

He was going to more forward but at the same time, he was going to get them the respect they had deserved since the beginning.
