205 Chapter 205: Manipulation
At a distance not that far from the Waterside Tribe, two humanoid creatures could be seen
One of them has the upper body of a human but a lower body of a snake. She was wearing a long purple gown
Her amber pupils were dilated and her lips were a deep red color and subtle scales covered parts of her face and arms
The other person with her on the other hand was also a humanoid but he has a furry body
He was covered with black hair from head to toe and his two faces were more of a wolf than a human
His back was slightly crouched and her arms were very muscular and at the end of it was his hand that looks more like a claw
“Hiss… although the Sage assured us, I didn’t expect that humans would actually kill each other with just a little bit of manipulation. Hiss the Sage is really smart” the snake woman said, her long tongue flickering as her eyes glowed in amazement
Humans have always been at the mercy of the magic beasts but at the same time, their species survived since time immemorial
Aside from that, there are also cases in history where humans were able to accomplish killing the magic beasts that were really at the very top of the world
While humans constantly struggle at the hands of the magic beasts, they still continue to survive and carve their own place in the world
“It’s just the death of a Junior Rank Mage and the weakest at that. There’s nothing to celebrate” the two-headed wolf-like creature said back in disdain
He doesn’t put these weak humans in his eyes as even the strongest of them which was the Chief could be killed by him just by breathing
There was no need to do something this complicated
“Hiss… you don’t understand anything, Wolfie hiss… this is merely what the Sage called an experiment, okay? An experiment!” The snake lady replied
“Grrr!! Stop calling me Wolfie! And what does an experiment even means?”
“I don’t know but the Sage said if the experiment is a success, we could use it for the stronger and bigger tribes” she replied while shrugging her shoulders
The two didn’t stay for long and they seemingly vanished from their original position, nowhere to be seen again
——
Back at the Waterside Tribe, Stone Head could be seen lying on the ground with a bloody head. This time, the blood on him did not come from the magic beasts but instead came from his own flesh
The Chief’s forceful throw has injured him but he doesn’t care
“Cough! Cough! Cough! I-I merely did what I should! I had to avenge my wife!” He said firmly. No matter what people would say to him, he would always think that his decision to kill Big Nose was right
That bastard has defiled his wife causing her to commit suicide. Stone Head would never be able to forgive him and the only way to slightly appease his anger is by killing him
“Y-you… you don’t even plan on repenting!” The Chief exploded from anger as she waved her magic wand
Three barrier orbs were condensed by her and she sent the orbs flying
“Arrghh!!”
The orbs landed on Stone Head’s body that felt like he was smashed with heavy rocks
However, with the Chief’s manipulation, the orbs did not give Stone Head additional injuries
After all, the tribe already lost one Junior Rank mage which was a heavy loss to them. The tribe cannot afford to lose another mage at that level
However, punishment must still be ensured to prevent a similar incident from happening
Bang! Bang! Bang!!
The orbs continue to attack Stone Head, not giving him any time to react. The man didn’t try to resist and merely accepted his punishment
As long as he could kill Big Nose, he doesn’t care about the things that would happen next
“After Jeremy and Grass Wood return from their mission, you would replace them. You have to work for the rest of your life to provide the tribe with Resonance Gems!” The Chief declared
In the tribe, things such as bullying occurred. However, a tribe is still a tribe. The relationship they have with each other is special and they have a strong sense of bond, especially to a small tribe like this where everyone knows each other
What Stone Head did was a heavy sin and from now on, the tribesmen would look at him differently
The weaker tribesmen might not say much because of the lack of power but they would definitely isolate Stone Head
That man killed a ‘family’ once, who could say that he wouldn’t do the same thing in the future?
The fate of Stone Head was no different from banishment but he’ll take it
The Chief was still trying to recover from her anger when a certain someone approached her
“U-umm… C-chief… t-this is for you…” a shy and unsure voice said and the Chief turned to look at the source
The person that approached her was none other than Rezen that was holding a small wooden bowl that has a green paste on it that gives off an earthy and grassy type of scent
Since the Waterside tribe is small, the Chief just like the others basically knew every member and she doesn’t remember anyone resembling Rezen
“Who are you?” The Chief asked with her brows crinkled
“Chief, his name is Rezen. We found him injured and unconscious and decided to save him. He knows how to use herbs to heal people!”
It was Jenna that stepped out and spoke. A healer is a tribe’s asset and ever since Rezen’s worth was recognized by the tribe, she also benefited
The tribesmen have given her and the other members of her team more respect than they used to as they are the one that brought a capable healer to the tribe
Tribal people might not be the smartest people in the world but they are still aware of how power and worth change the way people treat them
“A healer?” The Chief muttered while staring at Rezen from head to toe
Just like the others, she was thinking about whether Rezen is a member of the bigger tribes. Seeing that Rezen has no old wounds on his body, it just further proved that he was someone that has not experienced much hardship
If he is a member of a bigger tribe, his presence might bring trouble. Who knows just how complicated the politics of those bigger tribes are?
Rezen might not know the exact thoughts inside the Chief’s mind but he can still guess some of them
It’s just that, the Chief is someone that he must suck up with especially after Big Nose died
Big Nose was the son of the old grandpa that Rezen formed a great relationship with. Now that Big Nose has died, the relationship he has with that grandpa is almost worthless
Rezen has to suck up to someone new and the best target is naturally the strongest person in the tribe
“U-umm… Chief, c-can you take the medicinal paste? T-the e-earlier fight s-scared me and n-now…”
While speaking with a voice filled with shyness, Rezen suddenly… farted. Yes, he really farted causing his cheeks to turn crimson out of embarrassment
“Pfft!!”
His action causes the tribesmen to laugh, lightening the atmosphere a bit. They have never seen someone farting in front of the Chief. Was he that much of a scaredy cat? It seems like they have to take care of him better next time in case he really poops on the spot
Although the Chief was still in doubt, she still took the bowl of medicinal paste. Her left shoulder was still bleeding and although it was not life threatening, it was better to treat it as soon as possible this was especially so since a Junior Mage of the tribe had just died
She cannot afford to be weak. After all, even though Junior Mages’ bodies has a better resistance it was still possible for the wound to be infected
If that happens, getting sick is already the best care scenario whereas dying is the worst-case scenario
After the Chief accepted the bowl of medicinal paste, Rezen hastily ran as if his life depended on it
He once again succeeded in slightly lightening the atmosphere as the tribesmen lightly laugh at him. They think that he was in a hurry to poop
Hearing their laughter, Rezen smiled inside him. He once again was able to portray a harmless yet likable image
That was the image he wanted to portray now that he is still powerless. For the sake of survival, he doesn’t mind farting in front of many people
After all, a harmless rabbit is liked by more people rather than a disabled yet cunning wolf
