Chapter 99: Li Heng’s Profile Analysis

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Li Heng’s Profile Analysis

Li Heng had thought another teacher would be paying him a visit soon.

But even after he recounted his experiences in the secret realm to his parents, spicing up the story a bit, that teacher still hadn’t arrived.

’Maybe I’m just overthinking it,’ Li Heng thought. ’Still, it’s good that no other teachers are coming. I can finally get some peace and quiet and rest properly.’

Li Guobin and his wife felt like they were on an emotional roller coaster as they listened to Li Heng recount his experience in the secret realm.

Their hearts were in their throats, especially when Li Heng described his battle with the Tier Two Soul Beast. They had been terribly worried for him.

Even though their son had returned safely, Li Guobin patted Li Heng’s shoulder in the end, telling him to be more careful in the future and that there was no need to push himself so hard.

After the family of three chatted for a little while longer, Li Heng told his parents to get some rest, as he also wanted to take a nap.

「 」

Meanwhile, the third teacher Li Heng had been expecting was with someone else, flipping through page after page of a file.

"Teacher Lu! You’ve already read that file twice! Let’s get to Li Heng’s house, quick! Otherwise, a genius like him will be snatched away by Desert Military Academy or Canghai University!"

The man known as Teacher Lu was the instructor who had recorded Li Heng’s total score and held onto his identification card.

Hearing his colleague’s desperate urging, Teacher Lu remained calm. He slowly closed the file and turned to his colleague.

"There’s no need to rush. You just looked over Li Heng’s file as well. Did you notice anything?"

The other teacher was already on edge, and Teacher Lu’s unhurried tone only made him more frantic. "Notice what? That he’s a genius, of course! A master of Swordsmanship! The evaluation notes made it crystal clear. Not only does he have Sword Qi, but he’s highly likely to break through to the Soul Warrior realm within six months and make it onto the Alliance Celestial Ranking!"

A prodigy destined for the Celestial Ranking!

He was already a strong candidate for the top scorer in the college entrance exams. Now, after seeing his file, they knew he also had transcendent Swordsmanship and the potential to make the Celestial Ranking.

You had to be willing to risk it all to recruit a student like that!

So the other teacher was anxious. Extremely anxious.

After all, their only rivals right now were Desert Military Academy and Canghai University. Once his score of 4021 was officially announced, the competition would be fierce.

They were already lagging behind the other two schools, making the matter doubly urgent.

Teacher Lu gestured for his colleague to calm down. After the man’s emotions had settled slightly, he began to explain.

"Frankly, when I was verifying his score, I had a hunch. For a student as exceptional as Li Heng, it’s impossible that he’d be overlooked, no matter how blind the person in charge of Maple City might be. The National Targeted Exam should have been his stage. But in the end, Li Heng only took the regular secret realm college entrance exam. Don’t you find... that there’s a problem with that?"

"What problem?"

Teacher Lu took out a page from the file. "Look here. The name of the person in charge of this year’s selection for Maple City’s Ten Outstanding Students is Lin Jiangang. Now, look who recommended Li Heng in his evaluation!"

His colleague followed his gesture and looked at the document.

And there he saw the name of the person who had recommended Li Heng with comments that praised him to the heavens—Lin Jiangang!

"Teacher Lu... this is..." Seeing the name, his colleague instantly calmed down. His frantic energy was replaced by confusion.

At that moment, he understood that the person in charge of Maple City this year wasn’t blind in the slightest; on the contrary, his judgment was exceptionally keen.

Based on the evaluation comments alone, this Lin Jiangang thought more highly of Li Heng than anyone.

"I was just cursing this Lin Jiangang," Teacher Lu admitted. "But now... it seems I was the short-sighted one. These people possess great wisdom!"

"Great wisdom? Teacher Lu... I’m afraid I don’t follow. Can you be a little clearer? Why didn’t Li Heng take the National Targeted Exam in the end?"

Hearing his colleague’s question, Teacher Lu chuckled. "That, I don’t know for sure. But I suspect... Li Heng himself chose to turn down the opportunity to take the National Targeted Exam."

"Why? The National Targeted Exam comes with all sorts of honors and generous benefits! Since this Lin Jiangang valued Li Heng so highly, he would have certainly made that clear to him."

"Forget an inexperienced student, even you or I would find it hard to refuse benefits like those! I just can’t imagine what reason Li Heng could possibly have for turning it down!"

The teacher spoke in a rush, his mind now tangled in a web of questions. He couldn’t make any sense of the situation.

Suddenly, he felt like he couldn’t even understand the file on Li Heng right in front of him.

At this, Teacher Lu flipped open the file again, found a specific line, and read it aloud: "Li Heng’s mental state far surpasses his peers. In terms of fortitude alone, it is on par with a Grandmaster!’"

A Grandmaster!

The realm beyond Great Soul Warrior was Soul Energy Grandmaster!

Yet many Soul Masters remained stuck at the Great Soul Warrior level for their entire lives, never able to break through to become a Soul Energy Grandmaster!

Because reaching the Grandmaster realm required not just strength, but also mental fortitude.

Could a high school student, merely eighteen years old, truly deserve such an appraisal?!

The teacher, who had been so impatient moments before, suddenly fell silent. Student evaluations weren’t written casually, and the recommender wasn’t just another teacher but an "Alliance Official" for a city.

An Alliance Official would never make a joke like that. Which meant... all of this might actually be true!

"Do you know... what I sensed from Li Heng the moment I first laid eyes on him?"

As the other teacher stood there in a daze, Teacher Lu broke the silence. Without waiting for a reply, he continued, "Composure. A composure far beyond that of any normal person."

"He possesses a transcendent strength that puts him in a league of his own, yet he is neither arrogant nor impatient. He is courteous and respects his teachers. Even after discovering he’d achieved the astronomical score of 4021, his expression was placid, his emotions utterly unmoved!"

"That..."

"That’s why I knew from that very moment," Teacher Lu said. "To recruit a student like Li Heng, we can’t use conventional methods. That’s why I decided to review his file. I never expected so many surprises. He’s a true treasure!"

"In that case, Teacher Lu, aren’t you worried he’ll be snatched up by the other two universities?" the teacher pressed.

Teacher Lu replied, "Do you think someone who would turn down the benefits of the National Targeted Exam can be easily swayed by the terms a university offers? No. What we need to do now is report this to the school... For just the two of us to recruit a Celestial Ranking prodigy with the mental fortitude of a Grandmaster... It’s difficult. Far, far too difficult!"
