Back in his room, after upgrading the Snow Patterned Flying Knife into the Shangxue Flying Knife Technique and allocating all his Divinity points to the Snow attribute, the system’s notification announcing his realm advancement sounded.

Unlike his advancement to Soul Apprentice, upon reaching the Soul Warrior realm, Li Heng first felt a chill surge through his entire body. Then, it was as if snowflakes were drifting past his eyes.

The drifting snowflakes seemed to be just an illusion. After Li Heng blinked, the phantasmal snow vanished completely, and his vision returned to normal.

Then, for some reason, he felt a faint, deep-seated discomfort when looking at the sun hanging high in the sky outside. However, this feeling quickly faded.

’It seems... the attribute affinity is related to the real world, too. It has some minor effects...’

Li Heng guessed that the "snowflakes" and his "discomfort with sunlight" were likely due to his Snow-type affinity.

After all, snow and sun were not exactly compatible.

——

After checking his condition, Li Heng began to plan his future development and course of action.

’First of all, no matter where I am, I need to carry at least two flying knives on me at all times.’

’It’s not for attacking. The ability to teleport to save my life at a critical moment is what’s truly key. But my Snow-type affinity needs to be at least 10 for the Shangxue Flying Knife Technique’s movement ability to activate.’

He clearly didn’t have enough Divinity points right now. So, to master the Shangxue Flying Knife Technique as quickly as possible, Li Heng decided to ramp up his grinding efforts for Divinity points in the Divine-level Wolf King Mountain.

With a few days left before the bus from Meteor University arrived, Li Heng was determined. He would grind for at least two Divinity points every day before even considering rest!

If he got lucky, he’d grind for three before resting.

The ten common iron flying knives were a free gift from the Skill Store, included after Li Heng purchased over a million Alliance Coins’ worth of merchandise. In the store’s own words:

"We understand that these common flying knives are unworthy of your skill and status, sir, but please accept them as a small gift from our shop. We hope you will not refuse."

The Skill Store’s service was always excellent, but it was also incredibly expensive!

Still, the ten free knives saved Li Heng some trouble, since he no longer needed to go buy them from the Soul Energy Store.

Once he had adjusted his condition, Li Heng plunged headfirst into a dungeon. He started using the Blood Wolves in the normal-difficulty dungeon to practice his flying knife skills.

Over the next few days, in addition to desperately grinding for Divinity points, Li Heng also squeezed in some time to practice with his flying knives.

Since he’d never used hidden weapons before, Li Heng was just flinging them around blindly. For every ten knives he threw, maybe two would hit a Blood Wolf.

Furthermore, without his Ice Luan, the Blood Wolves in the normal dungeon now scattered the instant they saw him, running for their lives without a single glance back.

So, with his already terrible aim, hitting a Blood Wolf was almost entirely a matter of luck.

But it didn’t matter if he missed. He could worry about accuracy later. After a few days of practice in the dungeon, Li Heng’s throwing speed was already much faster than before.

’As long as I can throw them fast enough, speed is all that matters!’

For five days, Li Heng went on another hardcore grinding spree. He ran a "three-shift" rotation, cycling between the Divine-level Wolf King Mountain, the normal Wolf King Mountain, and Ice Jiao Lake. He ran the Divine-level dungeon far more times than before.

At the cost of a few more hairs on his head, Li Heng successfully ground out the 6 Divinity points he needed, bringing his Snow-type affinity up to 10. He also managed to get two points of Spirit and a decent amount of Soul Energy from the Divine-level Wolf King Mountain.

’My Snow-type affinity is at 10. Time to test it out!’

After spending his Divinity points to raise his Snow-type affinity to 10, Li Heng entered the normal Wolf King Mountain dungeon again. He faced an empty patch of ground and threw a knife.

Before his Snow-type affinity reached 10, using the Shangxue Flying Knife Technique didn’t cause any special effects; the knives behaved normally when thrown.

But now that his affinity was at 10, a delicate "snowflake pattern" appeared on the knife just by holding it. When Li Heng threw it, the pattern on the blade actually bloomed with a faint white light that traced the inscribed snowflakes.

It was less like throwing a knife and more like tossing a real snowflake through the air.

As soon as he threw it, Li Heng could clearly sense the knife’s trajectory, and he could faintly see flakes of snow in his vision.

Upon seeing the snowflakes, a thought instantly surfaced in his mind: he could touch them.

The moment the thought emerged and he focused on a specific snowflake, Li Heng suddenly felt his body lighten. In an instant, he was standing five meters away.

’This is...’

His first teleport was a success. Li Heng’s eyes lit up. He immediately activated the Shangxue Flying Knife Technique again, throwing another knife just five meters away.

The same snowflakes appeared, and the same thought crossed his mind.

This time, Li Heng appeared at the target location, right before the knife he had just thrown arrived!

’A super-simplified, bootleg version of Flying Thunder God... it worked! But at the same time... why does it also feel a bit like Catherine?’

Jokes aside, Li Heng was ecstatic with the result. It meant he now had another "life-saving skill."

While Meteor University didn’t force students to enter semi-explored or uncharted secret realms, Li Heng worried about other potential dangers. So, the emergence of this "Flying Thunder God" technique was a source of great excitement for him.

After getting a feel for the teleportation, Li Heng began a series of follow-up experiments.

For example, he tried throwing knives in multiple directions at once to see if he could choose which one to teleport to.

The experiment was a success. As long as the snowflakes remained in his vision, he could teleport to any of the knives!

Li Heng also tested it underwater and found that it still worked perfectly; the environment had no effect on the teleportation.

After all these experiments, Li Heng had finally worn himself out. He decided to rest, because the bus from Meteor University was scheduled to arrive the next day.
