Chapter 112: Questions About the Soul Warrior Realm
Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Questions About the Soul Warrior Realm
’The Mountain Spirit?’
’Isn’t that the only Tier Three High-Grade Soul Beast in the Desolate Moon Islands? Is Bao Yaoyao’s luck really that bad? How could she run into it?’
’Could it be that the Mountain Spirit only appeared after the stones of the altar started glowing that day?’
’No wonder those two Black Feathered Lizards fled so quickly!’
Li Heng mentally recalled the day the islands merged. He was glad he’d slipped away so quickly. If he had waited for the Mountain Spirit to actually appear, given the circumstances that day, the danger would have been immense.
These thoughts echoed in Li Heng’s mind, but outwardly he remained impassive, his expression polite.
Bao Yaoyao was caught off guard by Li Heng’s sudden words of thanks. She quickly waved her hands and then began to thank him again in earnest.
In her flustered explanation, she told them everything that had happened in the dungeon—how Li Heng had barbecued for her, chatted with her, and comforted her when she was upset.
She mentioned nearly everything, except for the awkward, misunderstood circumstances of their first meeting.
Bao Yaoyao thanked him again and again.
From Bao Yaoyao’s explanation, Li Guobin and his wife learned many things Li Heng hadn’t told them, especially about him having a Tier Two High-Grade Soul Beast as a Soul Energy pet.
Though shocked, they couldn’t say much with guests present. They just shot a glare at Li Heng. Then, for some inexplicable reason, they found themselves looking at Bao Yaoyao with increasing approval.
’She’s so polite!’
’Grateful and appreciative!’
’She’s pretty, with a great figure!’
’And a good family background!’
’Most importantly, she’s sincere with our son!’
Seeing this, the couple exchanged a look of tacit understanding but didn’t say anything out loud. They now understood that the Bao Family had come to thank their son in person.
Their guests had shown impeccable etiquette, and their gifts were more than generous. Li Guobin and his wife felt they would seem petty if they didn’t make a gesture in return, so Zhang Yu Yao spoke up to change the subject.
"It’s just children helping each other out. A thank you this grand is too much! I imagine Mr. Bao’s family hasn’t had a chance to see the local sights at night or try the food. If you don’t mind a simple night market, we know a few places with excellent grilled fish!"
"Then we’ll have to trouble you!"
On the way to the grilled fish restaurant, Li Guobin and his wife pointed out the sights of Maple City at night to Bao Yaoyao and Mrs. Bao. Meanwhile, Bao Yongyan and Li Heng gradually fell to the back of the group.
"Uncle Bao, is there something you wanted to talk to me about?"
Li Heng was a little curious himself. As they were leaving the house, Bao Yongyan had approached him and said he wanted to have a private word with him.
Bao Yongyan said, "Li Heng, are you planning to break through to the Soul Warrior realm soon?"
Bao Yongyan was very direct. Li Heng was stunned for a second, then nodded. "I got lucky. My physical constitution should be at the Soul Warrior level, but it seems there are other requirements for that realm."
In truth, during those six days in the dungeon, he had gotten the impression from his conversations with Bao Yaoyao that both her parents were Soul Masters, and high-ranking ones at that.
Faced with this sudden and direct question from Bao Yaoyao’s father, Li Heng knew he couldn’t hide the truth. He decided not to be evasive and answered forthrightly.
"Reaching the Soul Warrior realm before the age of twenty can’t be brushed off as just ’good luck’! Talent alone isn’t enough, either; you must have put in an immense amount of effort. I won’t say more, but you’ve earned the title of a promising young talent."
’No, no, no!’
’This is all thanks to the system.’
"Just lucky! Just lucky!"
’Li Heng knew the score. The source of his strength was all from grinding in Dungeons. He was always mindful of this, sticking to the principle of not drawing attention to himself. He didn’t dare get the slightest bit arrogant.’
Bao Yongyan noted Li Heng’s humility and couldn’t help but nod in approval. ’Young but not reckless, talented but not arrogant. He’s still a high school student, at an age where most like to show off, yet he’s consistently kept a low profile. Even his own homeroom teacher only sees him as a fairly decent student.’
Bao Yongyan asked himself what he would have done. If he had broken through to the Soul Warrior realm at Li Heng’s age, he would have been on cloud nine, making sure everyone around him knew it.
’But judging by his parents’ reactions, this Li Heng hadn’t even told them.’
’Humble and reserved, not showing off his true capabilities!’
Bao Yongyan admitted to himself that he could never have done that back in the day.
’What a rare state of mind!’
"That’s right! To reach the Soul Warrior realm, besides physical constitution, there’s another condition: elemental affinity and the cultivation of corresponding Soul Energy Skills. You absolutely cannot rush this! If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask me. I may only be a Soul Energy Grandmaster, but I still know a thing or two about the Soul Warrior realm."
After his observations, Bao Yongyan had developed an appreciation for Li Heng’s talent. He wanted to take this opportunity to offer some guidance, something he rarely did for the younger generation.
For one, most people didn’t have the status to warrant him personally guiding a mere Soul Apprentice.
For another, he was usually too busy with work and rarely encountered any juniors who were truly outstanding.
In Bao Yongyan’s mind, guidance from a Soul Energy Grandmaster was a fitting way to repay Li Heng for helping his daughter. As far as etiquette was concerned, he felt this was more than sufficient.
——
’A Soul Energy Grandmaster!’
Although he had suspected Bao Yaoyao’s parents were high-ranking, Li Heng was still a little surprised to hear Bao Yongyan state his rank so plainly.
In the Soul Energy Alliance, a Soul Energy Grandmaster was equivalent to a provincial-level official.
However, he only mulled over the rank for a moment. Now that the topic was raised, Li Heng did have some questions he wanted to ask about choosing Soul Energy Skills.
"Then I’ll have to ask for your help, Uncle Bao. Speaking of which, I’ve never been sure how to choose my element-related Soul Energy Skills. Could you give me some advice?"
After hearing Li Heng’s question, Bao Yongyan fell silent for a moment before answering.
"When it comes to choosing an element, there are generally two paths. The first is to determine your natural elemental inclination, choose your most prominent affinity, and then select a Soul Energy Skill you like. The second is to choose a Soul Energy Skill you like first, and then consider your elemental affinity. If your affinity isn’t high enough, you’ll have to take elixirs and herbs to change it, but those are extremely expensive!"
"If anyone else were asking, I would advise them to take the first path. But for you, I personally suggest you choose what you believe is most suitable for you."
"Your choice of Soul Energy Skills in the Soul Warrior realm will determine your future growth. You can only reach your highest potential if you choose what you personally feel is right for you!"
Bao Yongyan believed Li Heng had a bright future ahead of him and didn’t want him to stumble over his choice of skills at the Soul Warrior realm and regret it for the rest of his life. That’s why he spoke at length and with such sincerity.
"I understand. Thank you, Uncle Bao!"
After hearing Bao Yongyan’s advice, Li Heng lowered his head in thought. ’What’s most suitable for me... What Soul Energy Skill is the most suitable for me?’ he wondered.
This question plagued Li Heng all the way to the grilled fish restaurant, and he was still mulling it over when the food was served.
Unexpectedly, during the meal, a casual remark from Bao Yongyan to Bao Yaoyao sparked an idea. "At Soul Energy University, you’ll be facing semi-explored and even unexplored dungeons. You have to use your time to sharpen your skills; you can’t always be relying on others for help."
It was the mention of "semi-explored dungeons" and "unexplored dungeons" that gave Li Heng a sudden epiphany. He instantly understood.
He knew exactly what type of Soul Energy Skill was most suitable for him!
