My Exclusive God-Level Dungeon
Chapter 110: The Bao Family Visits
Chapter 110: Chapter 110: The Bao Family Visits
Bao Yaoyao’s parents had brought her to Maple City for a "trip," and according to their daughter, Li Heng attended Maple City Thirteenth Middle School.
The first stop on their trip was Maple City Thirteenth Middle School!
Although the Dungeon College Entrance Exam was over, the first and second-year students still had classes, and those taking the regular college entrance exams also had to cram for their tests.
So the school staff were at work as usual.
However, Bao Yaoyao’s parents didn’t walk onto campus right away. Instead, they informed the security guards at the gate that they wished to see the school’s principal, simultaneously producing a credential.
The guards at the gate didn’t recognize the credential, but they could tell these people were important. And since the visitors were very polite, they quickly reported the matter to the principal.
Two minutes later, the principal of Thirteenth Middle School appeared at the school gate. He gestured for the Bao family to enter, inviting the three of them onto the campus.
"Mr. Bao, your sudden visit brings great honor to our humble school! We are delighted to have you here. It’s nearly lunchtime, and there’s a wonderful restaurant in the city, if you’d please allow me, Mr. Bao..."
Father Bao replied, "Thank you, but there’s no need for such formalities. I’m just here with my family, traveling through Maple City to relax. I thought we’d just stop by to see your school’s excellent students."
"Not at all, not at all! Our school simply follows the policies and guidelines set by the Alliance when instructing our students. Every one of our excellent students is a credit to the Alliance."
Father Bao said, "Actually, there is one thing I’d like to ask of you, Principal."
"Please, don’t say that! It’s no trouble at all. Mr. Bao, feel free to ask."
Father Bao said, "I’d like to meet this year’s homeroom teacher for the third-year, Class 5."
Hearing this "request," the principal was curious. Why would a visiting Soul Energy Grandmaster specifically ask to see the homeroom teacher of a third-year class? But he knew better than to ask questions.
He discreetly went to make the arrangements.
Less than two minutes later, Huang Lingjing arrived at the principal’s office. The principal, ever so tactful, excused himself from his own office, closing the door behind him.
Upon seeing Huang Lingjing, Father Bao got straight to the point. "Hello. I’m with the Soul Energy Alliance, though I’m not at liberty to disclose my specific position. I’d like to inquire about one of your students, Li Heng, specifically his personal and family background. I assure you, I mean no harm... Would that be possible?"
He had put it so formally, even showing her a credential bearing the Soul Energy Alliance’s seal. On top of that, Huang Lingjing could feel a faint, oppressive aura emanating from Father Bao. What else could she do?
After taking a moment to compose herself, she slowly recounted all the details she knew about Li Heng.
An hour and a half later, the Bao family left Thirteenth Middle School and began to walk slowly toward Li Heng’s home.
However, as they left Thirteenth Middle School, the expressions on Bao Yaoyao’s parents’ faces were a bit strange.
Mrs. Bao said, "I know we made inquiries before coming here and learned there were no prominent soul energy families named Li in Maple City, nor were any reclusive masters living here. But to actually hear that this Li Heng is just a boy from an ordinary family... I still find it a little hard to believe."
Father Bao replied, "You’re not the only one. Even I find it incredible that a boy from an ordinary family could reach such a level. I’m growing more and more interested in this Li Heng!"
"Interest is one thing, but don’t go scaring the boy!" Mrs. Bao said. "Even if he’s from an ordinary family, we must observe the proper courtesies. In addition to the gifts we already prepared, you’re coming with me to buy some quality liquor, tea, and fruit."
In the eyes of Bao Yaoyao’s parents, it was nothing short of astonishing that a boy from an ordinary family had accomplished things that even the descendants of noble soul energy families could not.
This new information only made the couple more eager to meet Li Heng and see for themselves what kind of "Heaven’s chosen" he truly was.
The two of them had no doubt about Li Heng’s strength or his accomplishments to date. After all, even if everything else was fabricated, the fact that he possessed an Ice Luan as a soul pet was undeniably true.
It wouldn’t even matter if, upon meeting Li Heng, they found he wasn’t quite as "outstanding" as their daughter claimed.
They would just consider it an opportunity to meet a promising young talent. Since they were in Maple City on vacation anyway, it was hardly a major issue.
Bao Yaoyao paid no mind to her parents’ thoughts. Ever since they set out for Maple City, she had been filled with anxiety, completely unsure of how she should face Li Heng.
Between her parents’ analysis and the confirmation she’d just heard from Li Heng’s homeroom teacher, Bao Yaoyao now knew for certain: Li Heng was not dead.
Bao Yaoyao was overjoyed that Li Heng hadn’t died in the Dungeon!
But more than happy, Bao Yaoyao was wracked with guilt. She felt she had wronged Li Heng. He had taken such good care of her in the Dungeon, and in the end, had even been forced to tear up a Teleportation Talisman and leave early.
Her guilt intensified when she learned that Li Heng was from an ordinary family. Leaving the Dungeon early must have affected his results.
’It might even affect his future university applications. But no matter what, I have to find a way to repay him for his kindness!’ Bao Yaoyao thought.
---
Meanwhile, Li Heng had no idea the Bao family was on their way to his house. All he knew was that his recent explanation had somehow given his father the wrong impression.
As Li Heng thought back on it, he realized his explanation did sound a little off. ’It seems the more I tried to explain, the worse I made it sound.’
’But it really isn’t my fault,’ Li Heng thought. ’The whole situation with Bai Shasha coming over to suggest we attend the same Soul Energy University was already a little... ambiguous.’
"Dad, Mom, don’t get the wrong idea," Li Heng tried to explain. "Bai Shasha and I are just normal friends. We’ve teamed up before, so we get along well, and I trust her as a teammate for exploring Dungeons."
"Your father and I didn’t say a thing. We just suggested you invite her over for dinner. Look at how nervous you are! Mom believes you, sweetie~"
Seeing their son’s reaction, Zhang Yu Yao and Li Guobin exchanged a knowing glance.
Li Guobin chimed in, "Your mother and I really aren’t getting the wrong idea. By the way, you shouldn’t just be a homebody all the time. It seems like you barely have any friends. Why don’t you go out and socialize a little! If you need money, just ask your mom. Hanging out with friends can be expensive, especially now that the entrance exams are over."
Fine!
Seeing his parents’ reaction, Li Heng gave up trying to explain. Besides, he personally didn’t place much importance on dating at this stage anyway.
’After all, if I get a girlfriend, it’ll be a lot harder to grind Dungeons whenever I want.’
This was something Li Heng had learned the hard way back on Earth.
’Every time I started up a game, the calls and WeChat messages from my girlfriend would start pouring in. There would be all sorts of interrogations, capped off with that soul-crushing question: "What’s more important, the game or me?"’
’Eventually, Li Heng had an epiphany: If you lose a game, you can just start over. But if you lose your girlfriend... doesn’t that mean you can play games forever?’
