My Ex-Husband Always Knew That I Had Cheated on Him
Chapter 409 - 394: Begging for Black Stockings
Lucas Hughes stared intently at Chloe Simpson’s body, covered in marks, and slowly released her hand.
Then he tightened his fist again, raised his head, and slapped Chloe hard.
"I fucking stayed up all night looking for you, worrying about you, afraid something had happened to you. And you? You spent the night enjoying yourself with another man."
"I even prepared a one-year anniversary surprise for you, took you to Nightfall. Thinking about your hard work giving birth after ten months. And you? Huh!"
"Chloe, how did I never realize you were so disgusting before. Just because I didn’t touch you for ten months while you were pregnant and then another month after giving birth."
"What? You held it in for eleven months and couldn’t stand it anymore, huh? Huh! You’ve never been this wild with me!"
His slap landed hard, knocking Chloe to the ground, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.
She just lay there on the floor, not uttering a word, saying nothing.
She had done wrong, what right did she have to talk back?
"How could you be so cheap! Huh! So cheap!"
In the end, she just lay on the floor, letting Lucas Hughes vent his anger.
She lay there, enduring it with all her strength.
For a moment, she even wished she could just be beaten to death.
If she died, it would all be over; she wouldn’t have to face any of this again.
She was filled with unbearable shame, self-loathing to the extreme.
She felt no pain from the wounds on her body.
When she was covered in bruises and could barely get up, Lucas Hughes finally stopped.
Chloe forced herself to stand, wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, expressionless, her heart filled with deathly resolve, she spoke.
"Lucas, I’m sorry, I don’t even know why this happened. I was with a man... Last night you told me it was 606, and I did go into 606, I don’t even know how..."
She spoke calmly, like an emotionless robot.
Because, her heart had long been resigned to death.
Without hope, how could there be any rise in emotions.
But when she mentioned 606, Lucas Hughes suddenly got up, lunging at her like a madman.
He clutched her throat, pinning her onto the ground.
"You slut, what do you mean by that! Huh! You sleep with another man for a night out of your own desires, and it’s my fault for giving you the wrong room number?!"
"I said it clearly, 6066, not 606! Haha, Chloe, after knowing you for so many years, today I find you not just cheap, not just slutty, but utterly shameless."
"You clearly misheard, went into the wrong room. Yet you blame it on me, saying I didn’t make it clear. Even if you didn’t hear clearly, when you were doing it with that wild man in bed?"
"I don’t believe it, the whole night, you were so wild you didn’t notice it wasn’t me. Look at you, with your sluttish demeanor, do you think I would believe what you said?"
Lucas Hughes said as he ripped Chloe’s dress into pieces.
The words Chloe wanted to explain were swallowed back down with the fabric’s tearing.
Indeed, the whole night through, how could she not have noticed?
Even saying it, let alone Lucas Hughes, she herself couldn’t believe it.
Her alcohol tolerance isn’t great, but surely a few glasses of wine wouldn’t make her uncontrollably drunk.
Especially last night, she clearly remembered, the person in front of her was Lucas Hughes.
How did it turn into Alexander Johnson when she woke up?
She was lost in thought when the child’s cries came from the bedroom.
Chloe rushed to the bedroom regardless of anything, half-clothed as she was.
"Gigi, darling, don’t cry, Mom’s here, time to nurse."
She soothed the child while tears constantly fell.
At the thought of the impending divorce and having to leave this little one in her arms, the tears wouldn’t stop.
She wiped them away desperately, not wanting her tears to fall on the child’s face.
Again, she tried to smile and coax her to sleep, "Gigi, be good, finish nursing and then sleep, don’t cry, oh, oh, oh."
It was unsure how long she soothed until the child finally slept.
She carefully placed the child in the crib, inhaled deeply, and wiped her tears.
She changed her clothes, washed her face, and then went to the living room.
"Lucas, I know, all this is my fault. Let’s divorce, I’ll leave with nothing, want nothing. As for the child..."
She spoke with resolute determination, ready for death, though she had prepared mentally countless times, still, when it came to the child, tears fell uncontrollably like rain.
"The child... if you don’t want to, I can leave him with you, just please let me nurse him. If you don’t want to see me, I won’t come; I can pump the milk and have it delivered."
Chloe clutched her clothes tightly, fighting to control her emotions, not letting herself break into sobs as she finished speaking.
But what surprised her was that Lucas Hughes didn’t intend to divorce her.
"Chloe, indeed, I was too angry just now. You should understand that, after all, I’m a man, with a green hat put on me, especially on our first wedding anniversary, how could I not be enraged."
"But upon calming down and thinking, if I hadn’t taken you to Nightfall, hadn’t drunk, or answered that call, perhaps none of this would have happened."
"I share the responsibility for this. Furthermore, after all these years together, we’ve finally gotten married, and I truly... can’t bear to let go."
Listening to her words, Lucas Hughes lit a cigarette, took a few harsh puffs, and then began to speak.
"Alright, honey, I’ll listen to you, everything... I’ll listen to you... I promise, such a thing will never happen again. From now on, I won’t touch alcohol."
Chloe Simpson was momentarily stunned and then erupted into joy, laughing and crying as she held up three fingers to swear.
"But, I have one condition: trust between a married couple, once broken, it’s... This incident will remain a thorn in my heart. If you ever again..."
Lucas Hughes extinguished the cigarette in his hand, exhaled deeply, and pulled Chloe Simpson up.
"I understand, honey, I promise, it will never happen again. I’ll sign an agreement right now; if it happens again, I’ll leave with nothing—I won’t want anything, not even the children."
Chloe Simpson dared not hope for such a situation.
That after such an event, Lucas Hughes could actually forgive her.
At this moment, she was incredibly moved, extremely happy, profoundly joyful.
She was willing to give her life to Lucas Hughes.
"Hmm."
Lucas Hughes nodded slightly, and Chloe Simpson quickly got up to prepare the agreement.
Once prepared, she printed it out using the home printer, signed, and affixed her fingerprint before handing it to Lucas Hughes.
Lucas Hughes took the agreement, read it, and just signed it when his phone rang.
"Alright, I understand, I’m heading over right now. There’s an emergency patient at the hospital, and I need to go."
After hanging up the phone, Lucas Hughes picked up the agreement and hurriedly left.
"Husband, drive carefully on the road, don’t... rush."
Chloe Simpson admonished reassuringly once more.
After all, so much had happened overnight, and the two of them had just had such a fierce quarrel.
Now an emergency had come up, she worried Lucas Hughes might rush and cause an accident.
But before she could finish her last word, the sound of Lucas Hughes slamming the door echoed.
Yet Chloe Simpson stood there, watching Lucas Hughes leave, watching the door close, and finally utterly exhaled in relief.
"Chloe Simpson, with such a husband, what more could you ask for? In the future, you must work doubly hard to manage this marriage."
She forced a smile for herself and turned to look at the child.
In the master bedroom, the child was quietly asleep.
Long eyelashes, fair face, rosy skin, soft and smooth brows—tiny and delicate, truly lovable to the core.
"Gigi, Mom really feels so blessed. Such a huge thing happened today, yet your father actually forgave Mom."
"Do you also think Mom is lucky, to have found such a handsome and outstanding medical doctor as a husband, who loves Mom so much?"
"Gigi, you are very fortunate too, with such an excellent father. We are the happiest two women in the world. Gigi, rest assured that Mom will try her best to nurture our little family."
Chloe Simpson gently patted the little one in the crib, smiling joyfully.
But as she stared and stared, somehow, she suddenly felt Gigi’s face overlapping with Alexander Johnson’s.
Thinking of Alexander Johnson reminded Chloe Simpson of everything last night and the photo taken this morning.
Her heart was ultimately tinged with unease.
But then she thought about Alexander Johnson.
The Young Master of Kyohai’s business world, future heir of the rich Quinn Family—women thronged after him all over Kyohai.
How could he possibly care about a married woman like her?
She should be forgotten in a few days.
Yet, thinking of her husband Lucas Hughes and Alexander Johnson’s relationship, the unease returned.
Especially since Lucas Hughes had called Alexander Johnson to find her and given Alexander Johnson her photo.
Thinking it over and over, she felt uneasy and picked up the phone to call Lucas Hughes.
Trying to probe gently, but as soon as she dialed, the phone was turned off.
She figured he must be at the hospital, in surgery.
She’d figure it out when he came back tonight.
Besides, Lucas Hughes was doing surgery with his phone off; no incidents would happen during such a short time.
Only, Chloe Simpson couldn’t even dream that.
Lucas Hughes had no surgery at all; he was currently off, kneeling in front of a woman, calling her mom.
Nightfall, room 6066.
A woman, dressed in black silk, sitting on the bed.
Raising her foot, she used her toes to lift Lucas Hughes’s chin, smiling with ultimate allure and seduction.
