My Enemy Became My Cultivation Companion
Chapter 1496 - 808: Writing Immortal Arts Together (Triple Update Combo) (Part 2)
Returning to the secluded guest courtyard, the lanterns under the eaves swayed slightly in the night breeze, stretching shadows long and short. Suddenly, a figure dashed out from inside, just by the chest one could tell it was Donggong Ruoshu. Her hair was a bit loose, with strands stuck to her sweaty forehead, but her eyes were astonishingly bright.
She blocked the two who were about to head to the side room and told them not to leave. Chen Yi stopped his steps, wondering what was going on, but then saw Donggong Ruoshu suddenly jump in place, loudly announcing: "I can use Thunder Skill now!"
Yin Weiyin was taken aback upon hearing this, instinctively furrowed his brows, pinched a spell with his fingertips, and used the Qi Observation Skill to carefully examine Donggong Ruoshu. The Primordial Qi was still as stagnant as before, several critical points were still blocked, she couldn't even circulate the Primordial Qi, how could it be like she understood Thunder Skill? She shook her head internally, this girl must have taken an accident as truth, and muddled through some misconception herself.
However, she didn't notice Chen Yi's pupils shrinking slightly.
"You say... you can use Thunder Skill now?"
"Yes!" Donggong Ruoshu nodded emphatically, pointing at the scroll of "Five Thunders Core" and said: "I couldn't do it before, but I kept reciting it for a long time and pinching spells, slowly, I could do it. After I finished pinching, a huge thundercloud appeared in the west."
Yin Weiyin was initially skeptical, but upon glancing over, almost laughed out loud, that was the direction of Zhongnan Mountain.
She thought how could this stupid girl possibly know Thunder Skill, turns out it was a misunderstanding... too much imagination, the one casting the Thunder Skill was her, the Taichua Goddess.
The stupid girl opened her mouth wanting to express some comments, but before she could speak, Yin Weiyin interrupted her,
"You misunderstood, Miss Donggong, it wasn't you who summoned the Thunder Skill."
Upon hearing this, Donggong Ruoshu was immediately displeased, and urgently said: "It was clearly me who summoned it, I even felt it! That thundercloud gathered because of my spell!"
Yin Weiyin shook her head lightly, smiling faintly: "Casting a spell doesn't rely on feelings alone, Miss Donggong. The path of cultivation involves many hurdles, Primordial Qi, spells, mindset, opportunities, none can be lacking. If fantasies based on feelings alone could accomplish things, wouldn't all the young men and women infatuated with immortals immediately ascend the moment they fall in love?"
The logic in this statement was not wrong, but the dismissive tone pricked the stupid girl. She recalled Yin Weiyin's earlier cold sarcasm in her eyes, and immediately became both anxious and annoyed, saying: "I really am capable, it's you who doesn't understand!"
"Feelings can be deceiving, miss." Yin Weiyin's expression remained calm, "Especially when you too fervently wish for something to come true, often leading to excess."
Seeing the tension increase between the two, Chen Yi rubbed his brows and intervened: "Alright, in the middle of the night, what's the point of arguing about this? Everyone should head back inside to rest, we can discuss it tomorrow."
But Donggong Ruoshu's stubbornness surfaced, and she stood firm, staring directly at Yin Weiyin. Yin Weiyin seeing her like this, found it both amusing and helpless.
She pondered briefly, looking at Donggong Ruoshu, and her voice softened: "Since you are so confident... fine. Miss Donggong, if you truly have mastered the Thunder Skill, why not demonstrate it now?"
Donggong Ruoshu didn't back down, responding: "Alright!"
She immediately moved back two steps, took a deep breath, her face full of seriousness, even some devotion, and aligned her fingers clumsily according to the diagrams.
Then, she closed her eyes, gathered her entire focus, and muttered:
"...Heavenly Thunder hidden, Earthly Thunder rumbling, Yin Thunder unfathomable, Yang Thunder invisible, Dragon Thunder rolls water, Water Thunder turns waves, Community orders Thunder Fire, Lightning interwoven..."
The night wind brushed through, and the lanterns under the eaves swayed, casting light and shadow on her youthful yet taut face.
She chanted faster and faster, more eagerly, as sweat once again appeared on her forehead, finally almost shouting:
"Urgent, urgent, as per the decree!"
With the final syllable uttered, she abruptly opened her eyes, and Yin Weiyin was momentarily shaken by the aura, also looking skyward.
The night was quiet, the moonlight bright, with only a few clouds slowly drifting by, not to mention thunder and lightning, not even a wisp of wind was stirred. Only the thick canopy of the old locust tree in the corner of the courtyard seemed disturbed by the sudden voice, croaked gruffly with a few crows and then flapped away.
Yin Weiyin made a considerable effort to suppress her smile.
The stupid girl stood fixed in place, somewhat bewildered, her hand still held in the air forming a spell.
In the moment she chanted "Urgent, urgent, as per the decree," Yin Weiyin admitted, she did indeed momentarily panic.
Perhaps it was the past experiences of being tricked by this stupid girl, or perhaps the fervor of her chant was too convincing, too resembling authenticity, yet still, nothing materialized.
She lightly brushed her sleeves, with her lips forming a suitable curve, reassuring: "Miss Donggong, the matter of cultivation isn't something that can be rushed. One must be pragmatic, first guide and think, connect the qi meridians, that's the proper way. Let it end here for today, if you don't understand, you will need to consult further in the future."
After speaking, Yin Weiyin moved past Donggong Ruoshu, heading straight to the hall.
Donggong Ruoshu stood dumbfounded, watching Yin Weiyin turn and walk toward the side room, then glanced at Chen Yi, who had been silently observing. Chen Yi's face showed no particular expression, just quietly watching her, his gaze seemed puzzled, and perhaps holding something else she couldn't comprehend.
The night breeze swept through, and belatedly she felt a bit embarrassed, hugging her arms, she slowly squatted down,
"Sigh, I'm so stupid."
Chen Yi perceived the girl's disappointment, faced with this painfully honest confession unsure how to reply, thus said: "It's not suitable to belittle yourself."
"...You say I'm 'A Dou'... truly not comforting."
"..." This time she was suddenly not so stupid, became perceptive, Chen Yi also didn't know what to say.
