My Disciples Grind, I Get 100x Their Progress
Chapter 161: Monk’s Problem 2
It was not Chinese, but close.
That was the impression Julian had of this place, as Garph led him to a house of unique style that reminded him of the housing found in China.
The atmosphere fit, except for its residents.
Because as a human, Julian was clearly smaller in size. That was why this housing, though similar to China’s, also differed in some ways because everything was made on a large scale.
Well, that did not mean Julian would complain.
The interior was not much different. The polished wooden floors, large dark red pillars, and tall windows with carved wooden frames made the room look so elegant.
Several paintings decorated the walls, while the neatly arranged tables and chairs looked a little too large for a human. Julian even felt like a small child visiting an adult’s house.
"Lord Julian, I need to report a few things. Could you wait here for a moment?"
Coincidentally, Julian needed time without being under that Dragon’s watch. So, he did not refuse and nodded right away.
As soon as Garph left, all the tension he had felt vanished completely, replaced by relief and calm.
The same went for the fox.
Seemingly very afraid of Dragons, the little fox had become extremely inactive, rarely moving, as if it were shrinking itself to avoid being seen.
’My hands feel strange.’
As a superhuman, Julian probably would not feel soreness or anything like that. But, because his hands had been in the same place without ever moving the slightest bit, he could not deny that they were beginning to feel strange.
It was an unfamiliar sensation that was hard to explain.
And, nothing could be done when the sleeping princess refused to wake up or be placed on the bed.
Doing it by force would only complicate the situation.
Fortunately, the situation was different for the fox, which Julian gladly set down on the Dragon’s bed.
The bed was big enough for five Julians at once. As a result, for the little fox, it might feel like being in a small playground.
As for Monk.
"Woah, Monk’s father and mother would never have imagined that Monk is now in the Dragons’ domain!"
Strangely, even when Monk was afraid of Dragons or of becoming rabbit satay, the rabbit girl could always set her fear aside and let her curiosity take over.
Julian did not know whether that counted as talent or not, but it was clearly not a bad thing compared to being a coward.
That made him think.
’...What would happen if I turned off Fearless now?’
While thinking that, Julian suddenly heard the whisper of fate.
"Do not do that."
"..."
’I was only thinking about it. Besides, no way would I do it.’
It would surely have a terrible effect.
Julian had only been able to estimate it earlier, but after the whisper of fate, he realized that it might be the worst situation that could happen to him.
’I will not do it.’
Anyway, after relaxing a little, Julian took the language fruit out of his storage ring again.
Nothing had changed about the fruit, and there were no suspicious signs either.
Because of its extremely useful function, Julian was already tempted to eat it right now.
"Monk, do I just need to eat this fruit all the way through?"
Julian turned his gaze, trying to find Monk. But, he could not find the rabbit girl.
"...Monk?"
Thud—!
At least until Julian looked toward the space under the table, where Monk was, hugging her knees, trembling with fear.
That sudden behavior startled Julian; he rose from his place and approached Monk.
"What happened?"
Monk hesitantly pointed in one direction, specifically at the wall displaying a picture.
At first Julian only saw it as ordinary art, showing an interesting image. However, after looking more carefully, he realized something.
"...Those are the Lunari Race?"
Right... This picture was not just any picture. Rather, it was a picture showing the Lunari Race, Monk’s own race, kneeling and worshipping a certain figure.
No, there was no one they were worshipping; they were only worshipping an altar and a simple carved statue.
That made Julian wonder, what were they worshipping?
And, what was the reason Monk was terrified?
As Julian wondered, fortunately, he was thinking about Monk, who was more open, and not Felicya.
"...That is supposed to be a secret of the Lunari Race."
"....?"
"The Lunari Race, long suppressed by the Invaders, has been waiting for the return of the God we worship. After hundreds of years, thousands of years, from generation to generation, we have... waited patiently until today."
"...Then, what is it that frightens you?"
Monk’s gaze looked at Julian clearly, the trembling still there, even far darker than usual.
"That is not something that is spread widely. In fact, that we worship a god has never been revealed at all. We do not line up as depicted; instead, only one person each year does it, to keep it secret. But... What does it mean when Monk sees that art painted here?"
"Ah..."
That meant the Dragon Race already knew about this worship.
About the Lunari Race who worshipped a god, but never received any answer.
However, that still did not answer Julian’s question.
What bad thing would happen if this worship became known?
"Worshipping another god is the same as declaring that we are hostile to the Primordial."
"The Primordial, you say...?"
Primordial.
It was not an unfamiliar word to Julian. Of course, he might simply be too sensitive; it might have nothing to do with this at all.
But, didn’t Felicya’s Skill also invoke the Primordial?
Then, what exactly were the Primordials?
As he thought hard about it, Julian let out a small sigh.
"Come here, Monk, you can explain it to me."
Whether Julian would help or not, he himself did not know. After all, Julian had plenty of problems of his own.
It was just that, if there was a little something he could do, something that would make that bad situation better for Monk and would not conflict with Julian’s own goals, he did not mind extending his hand.
A human from a modern world that had once been peaceful, Julian naturally had still not lost the morals and conscience he held.
Helping someone in difficulty was still something he considered natural, even as Julian began adapting to how this world worked, and how they treated morality.
After that, Monk explained everything, giving Julian a complete understanding of the rabbit girl’s situation.
