The tactical all-terrain motorcycle cut through the winding alpine trails of District 7, its studded tires gripping the frozen mountain switchbacks.

Freezing wind and swirling snow flurries whipped across the eight-thousand-foot ridgeline, dropping the ambient temperature into sub-zero territory.

Thanks to his acquired Cryo-Ether Resistance, the biting mountain air caused no discomfort against Leo’s skin as he navigated the steep ascent.

Behind him, Bekka held tightly to his waist in her dark flight jacket, her new gauntlets humming with a steady green pulse.

"The radar signal is coming from that plateau above the timberline," Bekka called out over the sound of the electric engine.

"Apex has a tactical recovery unit stationed near the summit, trying to subdue the creature before it reaches the open valleys."

"They are treating the beast like corporate property," Leo said, leaning into a snowy curve.

"We are about to show them that cosmic predators do not belong in cages."

The steep mountain trail narrowed into a gorge, where high-altitude pines were split and scorched by stray plasma fire.

Overhead, an armored corporate dropship circled through the storm clouds before banking away toward an orbital relay station.

"They have automated surveillance drones patrolling the lower ridges," Bekka pointed out, leaning close to his shoulder.

"If we trigger their main sensor net, they will call in an orbital gunship strike on this sector."

"They will not get the chance to send a distress ping," Leo answered calmly, throttling down the engine.

Leo slowed the bike to a halt beneath the shadow of an overhang, cutting the electric motor to maintain stealth.

He focused his perception, activating the All-Spark sensory grid to map the snowy ridge ahead in purple outlines.

"Three combat walkers and eight infantry troopers guarding the high ground," Leo said, stepping off the bike onto the packed snow.

"They are using laser tether anchors to pin the beast to the plateau."

"I will take the lead walker on the left," Bekka said with a fierce grin, tightening the straps on her wrists.

"I have been dying to see what these alien gauntlets can do against corporate armor plating."

"Take the left flank," Leo agreed, his blade sliding silently into his grip.

"I will clear the center before they can establish an artillery firing line."

Bekka leaped forward in an explosive surge of green wind ether, her supersonic steps carrying her over the boulders at blinding speed.

The left-flank combat mech swung its rotary autocannon toward her, its targeting sensors locking onto her heat signature with a red laser beam.

Bekka did not flinch or alter her course.

She channeled her wind ether into the pneumatic compression chambers of her left gauntlet, cocking her fist back as the chamber whistled with pressure.

"Aero-Vortex Cannon!" she shouted, driving an open-palm strike forward from twenty paces away.

A hyper-compressed cone of emerald air erupted from the bio-alloy knuckle ports, blasting across the snow with the force of an anti-tank missile.

The compressed gale slammed into the mech’s armored cockpit, imploding the titanium plates and blowing the entire twelve-foot walker backward off the cliff.

The corporate pilot screamed in terror as the shattered machine tumbled down the rocky ravine, detonating in a ball of flame against the trees below.

"Two more left!" Bekka shouted triumphantly, pivoting smoothly to engage the flanking troopers.

She closed the distance against two oncoming riflemen with speed, ducking beneath their plasma fire and delivering twin palm strikes to their breastplates.

The concussive shockwaves threw both soldiers twenty feet into a snowbank, shattering their kinetic shields and leaving them immobilized.

The squad commander barked orders over their encrypted tactical comms, attempting to redeploy their perimeter fire.

"Target the rogue meta operative!" the officer yelled into his comm-link.

"Deploy secondary flash-mines and suppress her movement!"

Bekka vaulted over their defensive barricades with effortless acrobatic grace in the thin mountain air, driving a downward heel kick into the officer’s rifle barrel.

The compressed wind pressure snapped the rifle in two and threw the commander sprawling into the drifts.

In the center of the plateau, the remaining two armored mechs spun their dual plasma cannons toward Leo, unleashing a volley of superheated blue bolts.

Leo activated Shadow-Skating, gliding across the snowdrifts on frictionless trails of dark ether with fluid agility.

The superheated plasma rounds detonated behind him, vaporizing tons of snow and blasting craters into the mountainside.

Leo closed the eighty-yard gap across the snow in less than two seconds, sliding low beneath the sweeping plasma barrels of the second mech.

With a single fluid horizontal swing, he unleashed a ten-meter Void Arc crescent from his blade.

The spatial edge sliced clean through both of the walker’s hydraulic leg joints, severing the pistons like dry twigs.

The twelve-foot machine collapsed onto the deep snow with a massive crash, its power core hissing in terminal shutdown.

The third mech pilot panicked completely, frantically trying to bring his hydraulic claw down to crush Leo against the frozen ground.

Leo leaped twenty feet up, planting his soles on the falling claw and vaulting onto the cockpit roof.

He drove the dark razor tip of his spatial blade down through the reinforced cockpit canopy, piercing the primary control relay with a flash of violet spatial ether.

The machine went dead, its optical sensors flickering out as Leo flipped backward onto the snowy summit.

Behind him, Bekka unleashed a sweeping cyclone roundhouse kick that blasted the remaining two troopers off their feet, knocking them unconscious into the snow.

"Perimeter clear," she called out, shaking the fresh frost from her jacket with an invigorating breath.

"Not a single distress beacon escaped this plateau."

Leo walked past the smoking mech chassis, stepping onto the windswept summit plateau where the rocky crags overlooked the northern valley.

The wind howled across the peak, sending clouds of powdery snow dancing into the sunlight.

Anchored to the center of the summit by four humming laser pylons was the creature.

It was a silver-feathered Storm Falcon, its fifteen-foot wingspan crackling with bright emerald lightning.

Its razor-tipped feathers gleamed like polished silver blades in the mountain sunlight, and its predatory gaze burned with wild fury.

Four dense laser nets pinned its massive wings to the rock, burning red scorch marks into its plumage.

The wounded raptor screeched with defiant, earth-shattering fury as it spotted the two humans approaching.

Desperate to protect its freedom, the storm beast flared its emerald lightning core to the limit.

A wild barrage of razor-sharp emerald lightning daggers erupted from its wingtips, shrieking through the blizzard air toward Leo and Bekka with lethal force.
