My Desire System: The More They Want Me, The Stronger I Get
Chapter 108: Chimera Hound Freed
The midnight calm of the clinic sector shattered when a heavy concrete wall collapsed into the rear alleyway.
A monstrous beast lunged through the cloud of pulverized mortar, its twin tails thrashing with jagged bone blades.
The creature stood eight feet tall at the shoulder, its flesh fused with polished steel plates and corporate shock-collars.
"Clear the pediatric ward immediately!" Luna’s voice rang out from the second-story balcony with sharp urgency.
The chimera hound unleashed a deafening sonic roar that shattered every glass lantern along the cobblestone lane.
Kage dropped from the roof like a falling leaf, his twin daggers whistling through the dusty air toward the beast’s flank.
The creature snapped its massive jaws with blinding speed, deflecting Kage’s steel against its reinforced titanium cheek guards.
Kage twisted mid-air with fluid grace, landing on the cobblestones ten paces away with his blades raised in defensive stance.
"Its nervous system is completely enslaved by that pulsating neural collar," Kage called out, observing the glowing red diodes along the beast’s neck.
The chimera lunged again, its blood-red eyes glazed with unnatural agony and chemical rage.
Instead of striking at the beast’s exposed throat, Kage deflected its heavy paws with the flat of his daggers, refusing to deliver a lethal blow.
"Why are you holding back your blades, Kage?" Luna shouted from the doorway, preparing her healing wards to shield the wounded.
"Look at its eyes, Doctor," Kage shouted back, ducking beneath a sweeping tail strike that gouged deep furrows into the brickwork.
"It is not hunting for food or territory," Kage added, somersaulting over the hound’s armored spine.
"It is screaming from the voltage coursing into its brain stem," Kage concluded, landing lightly beside the clinic steps.
"Can you paralyze the neural receivers without slaying the beast?" Luna asked, stepping closer despite the imminent danger.
"The titanium casing is sealed with anti-tamper explosives," Kage warned, parrying a savage swipe of the creature’s claws.
Leo emerged from the shadows of the courtyard, his golden eyes instantly locking onto the cruel mechanism encircling the beast’s neck.
The collar bore the engraved serial mark of Vorn Genetic Laboratories, pulsing with jagged bursts of compliance electricity.
Every time the creature hesitated, the collar discharged ten thousand volts directly into its cervical vertebrae.
"They turned a majestic mountain predator into a lobotomized siege engine," Leo said, his voice dropping into cold, lethal fury.
The chimera pivoted toward Leo, saliva dripping from its fangs as the collar forced another involuntary charge.
"Leo, look out!" Luna cried, raising both hands to cast an emerald barrier between them.
"Hold your shield, Luna," Leo commanded, raising his left hand to halt her spell.
Leo stood motionless in the center of the lane as the four-ton beast hurtled toward him like a runaway freight locomotive.
At the final split second before impact, Leo activated Shadow-Walk, slipping beneath the beast’s charging bulk with liquid smoothness.
He reappeared directly above the chimera’s armored shoulders, sinking his fingers into the heavy locking mechanism of the shock collar.
The collar detected his intrusion and immediately unleashed a blinding cascade of defensive lightning across his torso.
Leo ignored the scorching agony, channeling the raw electricity straight into his desire core while gripping the titanium housing.
"You have suffered enough for their profit margins," Leo growled into the creature’s pinned ear.
With a thunderous exertion of his Level 42 strength, Leo twisted the reinforced alloy housing with his bare hands.
Metal screamed and sheared apart as Leo ripped the neural collar completely free from the beast’s mangled flesh.
He hurled the sparking contraption into the empty alleyway, where it exploded into harmless fragments of slag and burnt wiring.
The chimera collapsed heavily onto its belly, shivering uncontrollably as the forced neural torment vanished from its brain.
"Step away from it, Leo, it might attack on feral instinct," Kage warned, cautiously stepping forward with daggers ready.
"Put your weapons away, Kage," Leo said, dropping to one knee beside the panting beast.
The creature opened its massive crimson eyes, but the chemical madness had cleared, leaving only exhausted, bewildered intelligence.
It smelled the blood on Leo’s scorched fingers and let out a low, mournful whine that sounded remarkably like a battered dog.
"Easy, great one," Leo whispered, resting his hand gently against the beast’s broad, scarred snout.
Luna descended the clinic stairs with a jar of soothing salve and a roll of clean linen in her hands.
"Can you stabilize its neck wounds without triggering its defensive reflexes?" Leo asked, looking up at her.
"Animals recognize who delivered them from torture far better than men do," Luna replied softly, kneeling beside the chimera’s massive head.
"Should we harvest its core before it recovers its strength?" Marcus asked, arriving with a heavy war hammer across his shoulders.
"A grade-five beast core would power our southern defenses for an entire month," Marcus added, eyeing the glowing runes along the hound’s ribs.
"We do not slaughter living creatures for energy batteries, Marcus," Leo stated firmly, looking the veteran smith in the eye.
"Corporate hunters treat every living thing as salvage or raw material," Luna said, applying her cooling balm with gentle strokes.
"If we adopt their morality, then we have already surrendered our humanity to the cartels," Leo declared, his voice carrying through the lane.
The beast sniffed Luna’s herbal salve and allowed her to spread the green paste across the raw burns left by the collar.
A deep, rumbling purr vibrated through the creature’s chest, shaking the loose pebbles along the alley floor.
"What do we do with an uncontracted corporate war beast in the middle of a civilian sector?" Kage asked, sheathing his weapons.
"We do not cage what we just liberated," Leo answered, gently scratching the creature behind its serrated ears.
"If we release it into the outer slums, corporate retrieval teams will track its bio-signature," Luna observed, bandaging the torn skin.
"Then it stays here under our protection as a free guardian of the clinic," Leo decided, looking around at the gathered citizens.
Several residents had emerged from their doorsteps with torches and pitchforks, staring in awe at the pacified behemoth.
"You tamed a Vorn siege hound without shedding a drop of its blood," Marcus said, stepping into the lane with wide, disbelieving eyes.
"It was never a monster, Marcus," Leo said, addressing the gathered crowd with calm clarity.
"It was a prisoner that corporate masters forced to fight their dirty wars," Leo explained, stroking the hound’s silver mane.
"District Seven does not execute prisoners who have been freed from tyranny," Tessa announced, stepping forward with an armful of fresh butcher scraps.
"Where did you get prime beef at this hour of the night?" Marcus asked, eyeing the succulent cuts in Tessa’s wooden tray.
"I confiscated it from the syndicate warehouse before Toby took the scrap," Tessa chuckled with an unrepentant smirk.
The chimera lifted its massive snout and took the meat from Tessa’s trembling fingers with extraordinary gentleness.
A soft chuckle broke out among the watching residents, dissolving the lingering terror of the midnight assault.

"It seems you have acquired another devoted protector, Leo," Luna remarked with a playful twinkle in her eyes.
"The clinic needed a night watchman who does not require a weekly paycheck," Leo joked, rising to his feet as the hound nuzzled his hip.
"I will name him Ironhide," Tessa declared proudly, patting the beast’s plated ribs.
"Ironhide suits him well," Leo agreed, watching the magnificent creature settle contentedly beside the clinic doorway.
"He will sleep right across the entrance where nobody can sneak past his nose," Kage observed, leaning against the clinic banister with an approving smile.
"Corporate infiltrators are going to regret their life choices when they meet him in the dark," Tessa laughed, wiping grease from her fingers.
The corporate masters had sent an executioner to slaughter their hope.
Instead, they had delivered the district its most loyal and formidable guardian.
