My Daily Basic Stipend Is 10 Million

Chapter 67: Arrange It Personally

Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Arrange It Personally

’Sure, you value Chairman Zhao, but isn’t this going too far? She’s not the Chairman of the Board, so she doesn’t have the final say in choosing and appointing the CEO!’

What they didn’t know was that Chairman Zhao had quietly become the largest shareholder. Although she was still a non-executive director, she now held absolute influence over the appointment of the CEO and other major decisions.

The Yino Group wasn’t a publicly traded company, so this major change in shareholding hadn’t been announced. The average employee had no idea.

Zhao Hui woke up bright and early. He picked out his favorite outfit and carefully groomed himself in front of the mirror. ’Hm, still handsome!’

Good looks ran in the family. As Zhao Xiangjun’s older brother, his own looks couldn’t possibly be bad, they just weren’t as perfect as hers.

The workday at the Yino Jiangzhou Branch started at 9:00 a.m. Zhao Hui arrived early and sat in his Honda Accord, waiting. At 9:05, he composed himself, summoned his courage, and got out of the car.

He had never worked in a corporate environment before, so it was natural to be nervous on his first day at such a large company.

The Yino Jiangzhou Branch had built its own offices on a plot of land it had purchased, covering over three acres.

Zhao Hui first had to register at the security gate. Then, he walked to the front desk in the ground-floor lobby and said politely, "Hello, I’m looking for Liu Haoran, President Liu."

He had no idea what Liu Haoran’s role was. Zhao Xiangjun hadn’t given him all the details, just that he should ask for President Liu Haoran.

Hearing he was looking for the General Manager, the receptionist dialed the extension for Liu Haoran’s assistant. She informed the assistant that a visitor was here for President Liu and gave Zhao Hui’s name.

Liu Haoran had already briefed his assistant about this matter first thing in the morning, so the assistant told the receptionist to show the guest in.

On the way, Zhao Hui found a chance to ask, "Miss, what area is President Liu in charge of?"

The receptionist gave him a strange look. ’He’s here to see President Liu but doesn’t even know who he is?’

Still, she answered formally, "President Liu is our Regional General Manager."

Zhao Hui nearly stumbled. A wave of nervousness washed over him. He’d never been in such a high-stakes situation before, and the thought of meeting a General Manager was intimidating.

He was also incredibly curious about his sister’s influence. How powerful was she to have a General Manager personally arrange a job for him?

Since it was a purpose-built office building with nearly 43,000 square feet of space across three floors for only about 300 employees, Liu Haoran’s office was enormous and imposing.

Stepping into the massive, thousand-square-foot office, Zhao Hui felt as if his feet were made of lead during the long, ten-meter walk from the door to Liu Haoran’s desk.

"P-President Liu... Hello, I’m Zhao Hui!"

Liu Haoran nodded. "Have a seat."

He had to show some respect for the person Assistant Wu had sent. After all, she was one of the Imperial Ministers, and he might need her help with many things in the future.

In terms of official rank, however, Liu Haoran was higher than Wu Ting, so he didn’t feel the need to excessively curry favor with her.

Liu Haoran called in the HR supervisor and gave his instructions. "This is Zhao Hui. Take him to the logistics department and have Qin Wei find a position for him. And... set his compensation at the top of the pay scale for that role."

"What is the top of the pay scale?"

As the General Manager, he couldn’t be expected to know every detail, so he asked the HR supervisor.

"President Liu, the maximum base salary for a logistics employee is 6,000 yuan."

Liu Haoran turned to Zhao Hui. "Is that acceptable?"

Zhao Hui shook his head frantically. "It’s fine, it’s fine! Thank you, President Liu! Thank you!"

"And give him the standard full benefits package."

Zhao Hui was so excited he started to stutter. "Th-thank you!"

He had only been expecting around 4,000 yuan. As for a full benefits package, especially the housing fund which was considered a major perk, he had never even dreamed of it.

He usually just did odd jobs around his neighborhood, making only three or four thousand a month. But now, with a proper job, a monthly salary of 6,000 yuan, and a full benefits package... From now on, he, Zhao Hui, could finally walk with his head held high!

A surge of determination filled him. He swore to himself that he would work hard and make something of himself. He would show all the people who looked down on him, and more importantly, he wouldn’t let his sister’s kindness go to waste.

Liu Haoran waved his hand. "Alright then. Go with our HR supervisor. She’ll take you to meet the logistics supervisor, Qin Wei. He’ll be your direct superior and will get you set up."

Zhao Hui, filled with gratitude, thanked him profusely once more before following the HR supervisor to the logistics department.

Just as Zhao Hui left, Liu Haoran’s phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and shot up from his seat.

It was a call from the CEO!

You have to understand, the Yino Group’s organizational structure consisted of 21 regional companies across the country, which meant there were 21 regional general managers.

These 21 regional general managers reported to their respective District Presidents, and there were four major districts in the entire country.

In other words, Liu Haoran’s direct superior was a District President, and the District Presidents reported to the Chief Operating Officer.

Therefore, a regional general manager would almost never get a call directly from the CEO. The gap in the chain of command was simply too wide. Unless it was for a matter of extreme importance, such calls were usually to deliver a harsh reprimand.

Liu Haoran broke out in a cold sweat. His mind raced, frantically trying to recall any recent screw-ups at the branch or any poor performance numbers. He came up with nothing, but quickly answered the call.

"Hello, Boss!" It was their custom to address superiors as "Boss."

"Haoran, I’m calling because there’s something I need you to follow up on personally."

Zhang Shijie’s voice was gentle, and Liu Haoran could finally breathe a sigh of relief. If there was no crisis, then the CEO needing him for a task was actually a rare opportunity to get in his good graces.

"Whatever you need, Boss!"

"A couple of days ago, Wu Ting had you arrange for a young man named Zhao Hui. He needs to be specially cultivated. I want you to personally oversee his work assignments and mentor him directly."

A jolt went through Liu Haoran. ’That Zhao Hui seemed so ordinary. Besides being handsome, he had the air of a construction worker about him. How could he possibly be connected to the CEO?’

But he knew better. Wu Ting had already reached out, and for the CEO himself to call first thing on a Monday morning meant this matter was of the absolute highest importance.

’Zhao Hui must be some kind of VIP,’ Liu Haoran thought to himself.

"Boss, rest assured, I will handle it personally! I was planning to make him a deputy supervisor in the logistics department to let him get some experience. What do you think?"

Zhang Shijie paused for a moment. "Let him be the logistics deputy supervisor for two months. After that, he needs to get experience in business development and retail as well."

Liu Haoran understood immediately. The CEO wanted to develop his all-around capabilities. He was grooming him for a future leadership position!

He wasn’t worried about Zhao Hui taking his place. He was confident in his own abilities; under his leadership, the Jiangzhou Branch ranked in the top five of all branches nationwide. A general manager with that kind of record wasn’t someone you could easily replace.

After ending the call with Zhang Shijie, he immediately dialed the HR supervisor.

The HR supervisor had just introduced Zhao Hui to the logistics supervisor, Qin Wei. When he learned that Zhao Hui had been placed by President Liu personally, Qin Wei was quite courteous to him.
