Chapter 382: Chapter 229: Chen Xiao and His "Viceroys" (Part 2)

He wouldn’t mention this to his family, and he certainly wouldn’t tell Xiangjun.

Within the group, if he, Zhao Hui, was considered an "Imperial Uncle"!

Then Xu Wu was the "imperial consort" combined with the "Prime Minister of the Cabinet," ruling the realm on behalf of the "Emperor"!

He wouldn’t dare compare himself to that kind of status.

Fortunately, Chen Xiao chimed in, smiling. "Don’t scare him. I was just bored up here by myself and called him up to have a drink with me."

Xu Wu sat down beside him and had Xu Jun and the others take their seats as well.

"I’m not trying to scare him. What I said is the truth. President Hui is a real star performer on our team. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be about to hand him such an important responsibility."

Xu Wu shot him a look.

Xu Wu had, of course, already discussed Zhao Hui’s upcoming work arrangements with Xu Jun. Originally, Xu Jun was supposed to be the one to talk to him, but Chen Xiao had simply told him ahead of schedule today.

As the lowest-ranking person present, Zhao Hui was in charge of pouring the drinks.

On an occasion like this, they naturally wouldn’t allow any hotel staff to be present. After all, some of the topics might involve company secrets.

However lazy Chen Xiao might be, he understood why Xu Wu had brought people up at this hour. It was for him to show some appreciation for his subordinates and boost their morale, encouraging them to put even more into their work.

After sharing a drink with everyone, he turned to Xu Jun. "President Jun, the business management side of things has been doing very well recently. Whether it’s expanding our territory or managing the plazas, Junxiao Business Management has really made a name for itself with this first major success."

Xu Jun hastily replied with humility, "It’s all thanks to the company’s formidable strength. I was just following President Xu’s instructions and running the errands."

Chen Xiao laughed. "No need to be so modest. President Xu acknowledges your capabilities. She’s praised you to me more than a few times."

’President Xu praised me to President Chen?’ Xu Jun was taken aback. Usually, President Xu was more critical of him. During the last plaza acquisition, his slight hesitation regarding Tianlong International had nearly cost him his job.

Thoughts were one thing, but he quickly stated his position. "Thank you both for your recognition. This year, President Hui and I will continue to work in close cooperation to ensure the business management division exceeds all expectations!"

Chen Xiao turned to Xu Wu and joked, "President Xu, it looks like the year-end bonus you fought for him wasn’t given in vain."

Xu Wu glanced at him and smiled without a word. The year-end bonus had been set by Chen Xiao, and Gao Yue had been there that day, too.

She understood that Chen Xiao was using this opportunity to help her win people over. Although it was completely unnecessary given her current prestige within Junxiao Group, she wouldn’t expose his kind intentions now.

Aside from Gao Yue, none of them knew the amount of their year-end bonuses. In fact, they hadn’t held out much hope for one at all.

They had only been with Junxiao Group for part of last year, so what kind of year-end bonus could they expect? But now, hearing President Chen’s words, it seemed President Xu had approved bonuses for them after all. Regardless of the amount, it was a benefit, a sign of the company’s care and recognition for its employees.

Xu Jun stood up to toast Chen Xiao. After downing a glass, he turned to toast Xu Wu. "President Xu, thank you for giving me this opportunity. Joining Junxiao Group was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life!"

He spoke with genuine emotion, and his words resonated with everyone present. They all felt the same way.

If not for Junxiao Group, Xu Jun would still be the general manager of Jiangzhou Wansheng, considered a fairly successful professional manager.

But that couldn’t compare to his current social status and income—not by a long shot.

Furthermore, at Wansheng Group, the general manager position at Jiangzhou Wansheng would likely have been the peak of his career. Now, however, an achievement that far surpassed his previous one was merely a new starting point.

Chen Xiao said to Zhao Hui, "Go on, toast President Xu along with President Xu Jun. President Xu gave special approval for your year-end bonus, too."

He didn’t want them to make separate toasts, worried that Xu Wu would have too much to drink.

Zhao Hui wasn’t surprised that he was also getting a year-end bonus. He knew Chen Xiao and Xu Wu—they rarely played favorites.

Xu Jun and Xu Wu had been sitting on either side of Chen Xiao. Now that Xu Jun was toasting Xu Wu, he naturally had to get up and walk over to her side.

Chen Xiao patted the seat Xu Jun had just vacated. "Mr. Xu Gang."

Xu Gang understood immediately, quickly sitting down in Xu Jun’s seat to listen to President Chen’s instructions.

"Mr. Xu Gang, Junxing Auto will be the division that Junxiao Group invests the most in. You’re gradually getting used to the pace at Junxiao Group."

"But there are a few things you need to understand. First, my requirement for Junxing Auto is that it becomes one of the world’s top automotive giants. I’m not just making you empty promises. You can see for yourself the capital we’re pouring into this division. Sparing no expense is the new normal, and we will continue, and even increase, that investment."

"This is a goal we must and will achieve. We have both the relentless determination to see it through and the financial strength to sustain that investment."

Xu Gang nodded as he listened. ’President Chen is telling me my job is to figure out how to make Junxing Auto a top global manufacturer. I don’t need to worry about funding. The only thing I need to worry about,’ he thought, ’is the principle of ’adapt or be replaced.’’

’If I can’t keep up with the company’s needs, or if I once again fail to fully grasp the Group’s intentions—like during the dealership expansion, when I focused on saving money out of old habit and ignored the group’s larger strategic direction—there can be no delays!’

’If something like that happens again, what happened to Liu Jian today will be my fate tomorrow.’

"At the same time, you need to be clear about the challenges facing Junxing Auto at every stage. Right now, you have too few models and a small sales network."

"Furthermore, as a vehicle positioned in the luxury brand segment, you’re competing against other automakers. Those powerful rivals already have a huge number of vehicles on the road, which gives them a deep-seated hold on the consumer’s mind."
