Chapter 370: Chapter 225: Unlimited Firing Rights (Part 2)

He rushed back to Bihu Twin Seals, an amorous smile brimming on his face.

An expert in all eighteen schools of martial arts, he was going to let Zhao Xiangjun find out just how ferocious he could be tonight!

He sprinted into the elevator and took long, purposeful strides the moment he stepped out.

WAHAHA~! The moment his hand touched the fingerprint lock, he was already lost in a fantasy: he would burst in, sweep her into his arms, and get the ball rolling, so to speak.

"Honey... uh, what are you doing here?"

He got halfway through the word before he entered and saw Xu Jia was there too. He slammed on the mental brakes so hard he nearly self-combusted.

"Chen Xiao, why do I get the feeling you’re not happy to see me?"

’Happy to see you, my ass! We have plenty of crystal chandeliers in here; we don’t need a third wheel like you.’

With a resentful look, Chen Xiao said, "It’s so late. Aren’t you going to go home to Ren Jie? Aren’t you worried he’ll go out and fool around?"

Xu Jia scoffed. "Him? Fool around? The guy blushes whenever he so much as looks at a woman. Who’d even want him?"

"You can’t say that. Your Ren Jie’s wallet is pretty full these days. That’s plenty attractive to a lot of girls!"

Xu Jia gave Chen Xiao a quizzical look. "Chen Xiao, why do you sound so experienced? Your wallet is even fatter!"

Chen Xiao noticed Zhao Xiangjun, who was cooking in the kitchen, glance over, trying to look nonchalant about it.

’Lady, now do you see why I’m not happy you’re here? You have no filter! You just say whatever you want!’

He gave up. Xu Jia wasn’t the least bit afraid of him and dared to spout off about anything.

He sat on the sofa, ate the fruit Zhao Xiangjun had prepared, and opened his phone.

Just then, a message from Bai Lu came through. "Chen Xiao, why no reply? Do you and President Feng have some kind of secret?"

"Are you Agent 007 or something? Why are you prying into other people’s affairs?"

Annoyed because of Xu Jia, Chen Xiao typed a grumpy reply. ’A secret? Well, those ten minutes in her office really were something I couldn’t tell people about!’

"I’m worried that the next time we’re getting an essential oil massage, you two will team up on me."

’Team up on you? How so? I get my spear ready and mount my steed, and she eggs me on?’

’Damn, what am I thinking? I’m completely sex-crazed!’

’Xu Jia, I hate you! You ruined my night! I’m gonna have Liu Haoran dock your year-end bonus tomorrow!’

Just then, Xu Jia noticed and asked, "Chen Xiao, why are you smiling so weirdly?"

Chen Xiao immediately straightened up and said, "Shouldn’t you go help Xiangjun? Why are you so concerned about me?"

"Chen Xiao, the main reason I came today was to talk to you." ℯ𝐥.𝒄ℴ𝓶

’Talk to me?’ Chen Xiao had no idea what she could possibly want to talk to him about.

Xu Jia came over and sat on the adjacent sofa. "President Liu spoke with me," she said. "He’s going to promote me soon and wanted to get my opinion on something."

This didn’t surprise Chen Xiao. Given Xu Jia’s relationship with Zhao Xiangjun, it was only natural for Liu Haoran to think of her whenever a good opportunity came up.

Liu Haoran was now a Regional President. Yino Group had given him four more provinces, which, in addition to Hanjiang Province, made a total of five. This new territory was designated the Fifth War Zone.

With him becoming the Regional President, his former position as the General Manager of the Yinuo Jiangzhou Branch was now vacant.

Additionally, the Fifth War Zone’s headquarters would have two separate departments—Business Development and Operations—to vertically manage their counterparts in the various branches under its jurisdiction.

So Liu Haoran presented Xu Jia with two options. The first was to be promoted to General Manager of the Yino Group’s Jiangzhou Branch—his former position.

The other was to become the Operations Director for the Fifth War Zone, responsible for managing all operations within it.

Xu Jia had no experience in either role, so she wanted to ask for Chen Xiao’s opinion.

’What’s there to even hesitate about?’ Chen Xiao was speechless.

"Take the General Manager position for the Yino Jiangzhou Branch."

The general manager holds all the real power—they’re the lord of their own fiefdom! The Operations Director might seem to have a wider scope, but with vertical management, what are you even managing? The power to hire, fire, and give raises all belongs to the branch’s general manager. Who are the employees going to listen to, you or their general manager? It’s a no-brainer.

If you don’t have total control, how can you produce results?

Besides, Liu Haoran’s Fifth War Zone headquarters was also in Jiangzhou. If she ran into problems as the general manager, he would be right there to help her sort them out. It would be a perfect mentorship opportunity.

And another thing, only a general manager gets a holistic view of the business. The Operations Director role is too specialized.

Chen Xiao wanted the people around him to sprout wings and soar in their careers.

As Zhao Xiangjun’s best friend, Chen Xiao naturally wanted to help cultivate Xu Jia’s career.

"Okay, I’ll take your advice."

When it came to matters like this, Xu Jia trusted Chen Xiao’s judgment.

"Now hurry up and go help. After we eat, you should head back quickly. Don’t keep Ren Jie waiting."

Xu Jia said, annoyed, "What’s your problem? I finally get a chance to come chat with Xiangjun, and you’re already trying to kick me out! What’s Ren Jie in a hurry for? He’ll just wash up and go to bed when he gets home!"

’Lady, you’re a classic case of the well-fed not understanding the starving,’ Chen Xiao thought, before saying grumpily, "Just go help already!"

"Are you trying to get rid of me so you can chat with some pretty girl?"

Xu Jia asked with a mischievous grin.

Chen Xiao immediately looked up and said with an air of righteous indignation, "What kind of nonsense is that? When I’m not thinking about my dear Xiangjun, all my time is devoted to work. Where would I find the time for idle chats?"

Xu Jia eyed him suspiciously. ’He doesn’t exactly have an honest face,’ she thought, ’but then again, to run such a big business, he must have to put in a tremendous amount of effort. Maybe I just haven’t seen how hard he works.’

Once Xu Jia ran off to the kitchen to help, Chen Xiao breathed a sigh of relief and replied to Bai Lu, "Actually, I’m scared too. I’m scared you two will team up on me!"

Bai Lu replied, "Why is it that I don’t sense any fear from you, but rather... anticipation?"
