My Daily Basic Stipend Is 10 Million
Chapter 355 - 220: An Unworldly Appearance
Chapter 355: Chapter 220: An Unworldly Appearance
"You saw the number. The 30 million didn’t shock you?"
Jin Wuxian sipped his tea, his eyes constantly scanning the office. ’When will I ever have a setup like this?’ he wondered.
He mulled it over and concluded that he’d probably have to wait for Jin Fu to retire. Otherwise, Jin Fu’s dilapidated old office was the biggest obstacle preventing him from getting a new one.
He felt an intense sense of injustice. ’I’m the Young Master of a major company, the General Manager of the PR department, and I’m still not as well-off as a mere salesman!’
"Chen Xiao, no wonder you keep rejecting my offers to recruit you. With an office environment like this, even I want to come work as a salesman!"
Chen Xiao sneered. He took a sip of water before saying, "I’d advise you not to be too overconfident."
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Jin Wuxian was displeased. ’Do I need confidence to be a salesman?’
"It means you wouldn’t qualify. You think just any Tom, Dick, or Harry can be a salesman?"
Jin Wuxian’s face darkened. "Are you insulting me now?"
Chen Xiao laughed. "I’m sorry, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have called you a cat or a dog!"
That was more like it. Seeing him apologize, the look on Jin Wuxian’s face softened slightly. But Chen Xiao’s next words nearly made him explode with rage.
"After all, cats and dogs have never done anything to provoke me. Why would I insult them?"
’This is going too far!’ he thought. ’Isn’t he saying I’m worse than cats and dogs?’
"Chen Xiao, you’re an absolute animal! You’re a classic case of burning bridges! Biting the hand that feeds you!"
"Hey now, Jin, be a bigger person. It was just a joke. Come on, have some tea!"
Chen Xiao raised his cup, wanting to bury the hatchet with a laugh.
Just then, Ma Jing returned. "Brother Chen Xiao, the legal department reviewed the contract. They have a few suggestions for changes. Please take a look."
Chen Xiao glanced at it. The suggestions were all just nitpicky details with no real substance. He said to Ma Jing, "We’re not changing it. This is fine. Take it to the finance department and get it stamped."
Jin Wuxian nearly spat out a mouthful of water. "Are your company’s procedures this unprofessional? You can just get the official seal stamped whenever you want?"
Chen Xiao waved Ma Jing off to handle it, then turned back to him. "You need to get out more and gain some real-world experience. You’re fine otherwise, it’s just that you’re a bit sheltered and not the sharpest tool in the shed."
’What the hell does he mean, "fine otherwise"?’ Jin Wuxian fumed. ’I’m sheltered and not sharp, so what other good qualities could I possibly have left?’
Jin Wuxian was too angry to speak. He just kept drinking water, and even made two trips to the restroom.
Chen Xiao watched him with a look of pity, as if he’d contracted some terrible and bizarre illness.
Jin Wuxian looked down at himself. "What’s that supposed to mean?"
"Ah, Jin, so young and your kidneys are already failing you, huh? You’ve run to the toilet how many times in this short meeting? You really need to exercise some self-control with certain things!"
"Screw you! My kidneys are perfectly fine. I can still go all night long!"
"Oh, sure! I hope you’re not relying on reinforcements to last all night!"
"Go to hell! I’m begging you, just shut up! Are you even human?"
Chen Xiao leaned back on the sofa, crossed his legs, and said with a laugh, "You really don’t appreciate my kindness. I’m giving up my video game time to chat with you, and you’re still complaining!"
"With your attitude, you’re in charge of a PR department? No wonder you can’t even control online sentiment!"
It would have been better if he hadn’t brought it up. The mention of it made Jin Wuxian even more furious. Chen Xiao was the one who had fanned the flames online in the first place. Now, the fanbases for Shanyun Auto and Feichi Auto were completely at odds with each other.
They were at each other’s throats online every day, yet the instigator himself was completely unaffected!
Ma Jing brought back the stamped contract, and Jin Wuxian took it to apply his own seal.
He had to go through a whole series of procedures just to bring the seal out of the office, which was his biggest grievance of the day.
After both seals were applied, Jin Wuxian couldn’t stand to stay another minute. He got up and said, "I’m leaving. This is no place for a human being to stay!"
Seething with frustration, he was about to walk out the door when he heard Ma Jing say to Chen Xiao, "Huh, which company is that salesman from? He has such poor manners. We should refuse to work with them in the future!"
Jin Wuxian cursed under his breath. ’Damn it! Are all you salespeople this cocky?’
Without even letting Chen Xiao see him out, he stormed off in a huff.
That rascal Chen Xiao wasn’t polite either; he didn’t even stand up. He waited until Jin Wuxian was in his car before sending him a voice message.
"Hey, Jin, it’s lunchtime. Let me treat you to a meal from a famous national restaurant chain!"
"Heh, so you do know some manners after all. Which restaurant chain?"
’If you apologize to me, I’ll deign to accept,’ Jin Wuxian thought to himself.
"Lanzhou Ramen or Shaxian Snacks. You pick!"
...
’I’ll pick my foot up your ass,’ Jin Wuxian thought, too lazy to reply. Who knew what new insults Chen Xiao would sling at him.
"Brother Chen Xiao, why would you treat such a rude person to a meal?"
HAHA! Chen Xiao burst out laughing.
He loved having an assistant like her. No matter what mischief he got up to, in her eyes, he was always infallible.
"Ma Jing, you can’t say that. He did just hand you 150,000, you know."
"Hmph! Like I’m hurting for 150,000?"
"Ooh, listen to you now! So full of confidence! And who was it that got a raise of a few thousand and was too excited to sleep at night?"
Ma Jing pouted. "Well, that’s because I’ve been following you, Brother Chen Xiao. I’ve seen the world now, haven’t I?"
Chen Xiao let out a hearty laugh. "You little brown-noser!"
It was time for lunch. Today’s meal was brought from home by Ma Jing. Ever since Qiao Xin had started cooking for him, the two women had begun to compete, to the point that they eventually called a truce and agreed to take turns, one day each.
Even so, Ma Jing still felt she’d gotten the short end of the stick. ’Why should I have to split the duties with Qiao Xin? I’m the one who has the home-field advantage.’
"What’s for lunch today?"
"Four dishes and a soup! A mix of meat and vegetable dishes."
Ma Jing said this as she expertly took out the lunchbox. Then, holding something in her hand, she said, "Brother Chen Xiao, close your eyes!"
"Why?"
"Just close them!"
Not suspecting anything, Chen Xiao closed his eyes.
Ma Jing said, "I’m holding a bottle of milk. Can you guess the brand? If you guess right, I’ll feed it to you!"
’Feed me milk? Are you trying to get suggestive in the middle of lunch?’ℯℯ𝑙.
