Chapter 352 - 219: Xiangjun’s "Indifference" (Part 2)
Chapter 352: Chapter 219: Xiangjun’s "Indifference" (Part 2)
When they got to the first floor, Xiao Zhang hurried over to the middle-aged man. "I wore the manager down for ages," he said. "He finally agreed!"
The middle-aged man boomed, "Great! We’ll pay. In full!"
It was as if he was afraid people wouldn’t hear him. Everyone in the sales office looked over, and he felt a great sense of pride. The woman beside him also looked smug.
Nearby, a low-key couple was also browsing. They jumped, startled by the middle-aged man’s shouting. Once they understood what was happening, the husband whispered to his wife, "Is that guy a fucking idiot? For the kind of people who buy these houses, is paying in full really something to show off about?"
Chen Xiao heard him too. He glanced back and saw Xiao Chen walking toward him.
He smiled. "So, did they agree?"
Xiao Chen returned with a long face. "He agreed. The manager said he can give you a 20% discount on the price."
Chen Xiao was taken aback. ’A 20% discount? Is that a mistake?’ he thought. ’These properties sell themselves. Unless the developer is desperate to liquidate their assets, selling this place for 20% off would be insane. Did a donkey kick him in the head?’
"Is that a 20% discount or a 2% discount?"
"A 20% discount. I even had the manager sign it..."
Well, Chen Xiao had no idea what was going on either.
As the middle-aged man’s group was filling out their paperwork, Xiao Zhang recounted what had happened upstairs. When he mentioned that Chen Xiao wanted to buy six villas, the man and his companion roared with laughter, doubling over and unable to stop.
Even Xiao Zhang started cracking up. It was just too ridiculous!
The middle-aged man even started to mockingly imitate Chen Xiao. "Xiao Zhang, go ask your manager if we can connect all these remaining villas. I’ll buy them all! HAHAHA!"
His voice was loud and grating.
Chen Xiao shot him a cool glance. The middle-aged man had no idea that Chen Xiao had already marked him. If their paths ever crossed again, things would likely get uncomfortable for him.
He turned to Xiao Chen. "Write the terms into the contract. I’m buying all six villas. I can pay right now."
"Huh?!" Xiao Chen froze as if petrified, completely at a loss.
"What’s wrong? Are they not for sale?"
"No, not for sale... No, no, no, I mean, they are for sale... No, they’re not..."
She was stuttering, her words a jumbled mess. Chen Xiao waited quietly.
Zhao Xiangjun said, "You should go prepare the paperwork. He’s really buying them."
Her words had a calming effect. Only then did Xiao Chen finally believe that this incredible stroke of luck had really landed in her lap.
She practically sprinted off to get the contracts. But then, another problem arose. President Zhang didn’t have the authority for such a deal—a 20% discount was completely out of the question!
Not even for buying six villas. The discount amounted to 80 million yuan! This was no laughing matter.
Xiao Chen was about to cry from anxiety. If this 400-million-yuan deal fell through, she would have experienced the cruelest form of torture imaginable today. Such a massive swing from elation to despair could make a person physically ill!
She sprinted upstairs to find President Zhang. ’This manager is so unreliable!’ she fumed internally. ’Always causing trouble at the worst possible moment. If this deal falls through, I swear I’ll report you to headquarters! I’ll take you down with me!’
Zhao Xiangjun couldn’t help but feel for her and wanted to call out for her to slow down, but Chen Xiao gestured that it was fine. Inwardly, he was rather amused.
He was starting to suspect that the 20% discount was probably bogus. Otherwise, Xiao Chen wouldn’t be sprinting upstairs as if her life depended on it.
At their table, Xiao Zhang and the middle-aged man were completely bewildered, wondering what had gotten into Xiao Chen.
A moment later, they saw President Zhang running downstairs, drenched in sweat, with Xiao Chen hot on his heels.
"What’s going on? Looks like there’s a family emergency."
"Beats me. President Zhang is usually so sluggish he couldn’t outrun a schoolgirl, but today he’s practically keeping pace with Liu Xiang!"
Xiao Zhang’s jaw dropped as he watched the pair run, one after the other, toward Chen Xiao. The middle-aged man asked in astonishment, "What’s going on?"
How would Xiao Zhang know? He just watched as President Zhang ran up to Chen Xiao’s table, a fawning smile plastered on his face while he was still a good distance away. "President Chen! A pleasure, a pleasure!"
Chen Xiao rose calmly and shook his hand.
President Zhang said, "I am so terribly sorry. I made a mistake just now. When I approved the discount, I accidentally wrote down a 20% discount instead of a 2% discount. I’m willing to accept any punishment for the trouble this has caused you! I will report myself to corporate and accept the consequences!"
He had no choice but to be anxious. A 20% discount amounted to 80 million yuan—a mistake that could cost him his career!
A 2% discount, on the other hand, would only be about 8 million yuan, which was within his authorized limit.
Chen Xiao had a good idea of what had really happened. He had thought the 20% discount was impossible from the start, so when President Zhang gave his explanation, he saw through the lie but chose not to call him out on it.
"That won’t be necessary," Chen Xiao said. "Just see what kind of discount you can actually offer."
Since the manager’s attitude was sincere, Chen Xiao was willing to be reasonable. He wasn’t the type to enjoy making things difficult for others anyway.
President Zhang hadn’t expected to get off so easily. He had been sure the client would be furious and unrelenting, and that the deal would fall through completely.
For a blunder of this magnitude, he had been fully prepared to tender his resignation.
He never imagined the client would be so magnanimous. He was so moved that his eyes began to well up.
"President Chen, how about this? I’ll personally file an application with corporate to get you the absolute maximum discount to make up for my mistake!"
Chen Xiao nodded. "Then hurry up."
He had no time to listen to the man’s sob story, nor did he have the inclination to cause him any more trouble.
President Zhang left quickly and returned just as fast.
"Our company will cover all the modification costs. In addition, for the six villas with a total value of 488 million yuan, the final price will be 460 million yuan—a discount of 28 million!"
That was roughly a 5% discount. Chen Xiao didn’t haggle further. "Let’s sign the contract and make the payment."
President Zhang personally handled the rest of the process, so much so that Xiao Chen couldn’t even get involved.
Zhao Xiangjun spoke up. "You need to make sure the commission for this goes to Miss Xiao Chen."
President Zhang quickly replied, "Of course! Please, rest assured."
Xiao Chen shot Zhao Xiangjun a grateful look. Honestly, she couldn’t even dream of a 4.6 million yuan commission. She had already been mentally preparing herself for the company to take a cut.
But with Zhao Xiangjun’s interjection, the company would now have to think twice before trying to deduct any of it.
’Such a beautiful girl, and so kind-hearted, too,’ she thought. ’No wonder she gets to enjoy a lifestyle ordinary people can’t even fathom!’
