Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Plenty of Fish in the Sea

One look at his sister, and Zhao Hui knew she was smitten with the car.

If they were getting a gift for Chen Xiao, it had to be the best. This Brabus was a rare find, and 19 million yuan was nothing to his sister.

So, without Zhao Xiangjun needing to say another word, Zhao Hui understood that she had her heart set on it.

Huh? Hearing that they were actually going to buy it, the salesperson felt like he was dreaming. It took Zhao Hui prompting him several times before he finally snapped out of it.

"Honored guests, please have a rest in our lounge. I’ll go and consult with my boss!"

It was a weekday, so the dealership wasn’t crowded. Zhao Xiangjun and Xu Jia took the opportunity to enjoy some peace and quiet in the lounge, leaving Zhao Hui in charge of handling the purchase.

The two of them settled into the lounge and started watching short-form video dramas on their phones.

While the salesperson was off reporting to his boss, Zhao Hui had nothing to do, so he wandered around the showroom, casually looking at the cars.

The showroom featured everything from the hundred-thousand-yuan-plus Mercedes-Benz A-Class to the S-Class. The three-pointed star was the logo of a brand Zhao Hui had never dared to dream of owning.

Looking at them now, however, his mindset was completely different. He was carrying his sister’s credit card, ready at any moment to swipe it and purchase a 19-million-yuan car.

In his eyes, the other cars in the showroom seemed utterly commonplace.

He unconsciously drifted over to the SUV section, where the Mercedes-Benz GLC, GLE, and GLS were on display.

’Maybe in the near future, I can own a GLE myself,’ he thought.

After joining Junxiao Square, his salary as the Vice President of Business was set at a base of 50,000 yuan per month, with a year-end bonus on top of that.

For this type of position, the year-end bonus made up a significant portion of the annual income. Including his salary, a rough calculation put his yearly earnings at nearly one million yuan.

Zhao Hui had leaped into the ranks of Jiangzhou’s business elite, becoming a successful man.

Not long ago, he’d been so thrilled about a monthly salary of 15,000 yuan that he got drunk celebrating with Mr. Zhao. Now, in just a short time, he was on a meteoric rise once again.

But this time, his mindset was much calmer. Having witnessed Chen Xiao’s power, he knew that as long as he did his job well, this was still just the beginning.

"Ah Hui!"

Dazed, Zhao Hui heard someone call his name. He looked toward the sound and was surprised to see Wang Hao and his father.

The two parties had nearly brushed past each other. Wang Hao had spotted Zhao Hui, but Zhao Hui, lost in thought, hadn’t noticed him.

Ever since their last meeting, Wang Hao had tried to meet up with Zhao Hui multiple times, but Zhao Hui had always turned him down, using his busy work schedule as an excuse. He had also advised Wang Hao to give up on his unrealistic ideas.

He had told him bluntly that his sister already had a boyfriend she was very much in love with.

Later, he heard that Wang Hao had lost all appetite for food and drink, suffered from insomnia at night, and spent his days pacing back and forth at home, often with tears streaming down his face. This made Father Wang both heartbroken and frustrated with his son’s lack of fortitude.

He even scolded him, saying, "There are plenty of fish in the sea, so why are you so fixated on someone from the Zhao Family!"

Wang Hao had been holed up at home for nearly a week. To help him pull himself together, Father Wang decided to fulfill his earlier promise of buying him a BMW X3, a gift that was originally planned for after his engagement.

They had just come from looking at the BMW X3 and were now checking out the Mercedes-Benz GLC. In the end, Wang Hao had chosen the GLC.

They were currently in the process of finalizing the paperwork. Since he was getting a loan, they were waiting for the bank’s representative to arrive. With time to kill, they decided to take a stroll through the showroom, which is when they happened to run into Zhao Hui.

"Brother Hui, this must be fate!"

Seeing him was like finding a lifeline for Wang Hao. Zhao Hui struggled to pull his hand free from Wang Hao’s grasp and forced a light laugh. "What a coincidence!"

Father Wang was filled with resentment towards the Zhao Family. Not only did he lose out on a beautiful daughter-in-law, but the whole affair had also driven his son to obsession. He couldn’t muster a pleasant expression upon seeing Zhao Hui.

’If it weren’t for his son being so deeply infatuated with Zhao Xiangjun, he would have never given this family the time of day. A bunch of paupers!’

"Xiao Zhao, you shouldn’t be so ambitious. Instead of working hard, you’re here looking at cars? What’s the point of window shopping?"

"This is a Mercedes-Benz dealership. You should consider your family’s circumstances."

Zhao Hui knew Father Wang had always looked down on him. Back then, he himself must have been possessed, so intent on setting up Wang Hao with his sister.

’Thinking back, I was such a bastard! I deserved to be looked down on.’

Looking at Father Wang’s current demeanor, he remembered how he once tried everything to curry favor with the man, even hoping he might introduce him to a job.

Recalling his past actions, he found his former self more and more detestable.

He didn’t resent the Wang Family, though. It’s human nature to admire the powerful, and snobbery is a common failing.

In the past, he was the one who had been a disappointment; it had nothing to do with anyone else.

Not wanting to get entangled with them, he pretended not to understand the sarcasm in Father Wang’s words. "President Wang, Haozi, please don’t let me interrupt you. I’m just looking around!"

But Wang Hao wasn’t about to let this rare opportunity slip away. He had tried to get in touch with Zhao Hui so many times recently, all to no avail.

He said to Zhao Hui, "Brother Hui, come have a seat! See what you think of the car I’m buying."

He pointed to the Mercedes-Benz GLC in the display area—the very model Wang Hao was purchasing.

Seeing how incredibly enthusiastic he was, and considering it wasn’t a difficult request, Zhao Hui agreed. He was just killing time, after all.

So he got in and sat down. To be honest, he wasn’t impressed.

He had just sat in the Lantu Dream Chaser, and compared to that, the rear space, comfort, and interior layout of this car were vastly inferior.

But he didn’t have the heart to crush the spirits of the self-satisfied Wang Hao, who was gushing endlessly about how great the car was.

So he just said casually, "Yeah, it’s nice."

"Want to borrow it for a few days when I get it?"

Father Wang, who had been watching Zhao Hui with a look of disdain, heard his son’s offer and was instantly filled with despair. ’Son, do you really have to be such a simp?’

’They say a car is a man’s second wife, and you haven’t even brought it home yet and you’re already promising to let someone else drive it for days?’

Zhao Hui quickly waved his hands. "No, no, it’s fine. I have a car to drive."

He was genuinely not interested in the car. Father Wang thought to himself: ’Good, you know your place. As if you’re worthy of driving a Mercedes-Benz.’

But Wang Hao kept insisting, "It’s no problem, Brother Hui. Don’t worry, just take it for a spin! You should also experience the joy of driving a Mercedes-Benz!"

Father Wang couldn’t stand it anymore and decided to separate them. He said to a nearby salesperson, "Could you please ask why the loan specialist for our transaction hasn’t come over yet?"

The salesperson used his walkie-talkie to check on the situation and returned shortly after. "Sir, I’m very sorry, but the loan specialist was called away by our boss. He said he needs to process a loan for another client first and will come over as soon as he’s done."

Father Wang was displeased, but hearing that the dealership’s boss was the one who had called the specialist away, there was nothing he could do. He could only watch resentfully as his son, looking every bit the sycophant, continued to eagerly pitch his beloved car to Zhao Hui.

He didn’t realize that Zhao Hui was also incredibly bored by the conversation—Wang Hao’s spit was practically spraying his face. Fortunately, just then, he saw the salesperson—the one who had gone to report his sister’s purchase intention to the boss—walking their way, looking around as if searching for someone. It had to be him.
