Chapter 635: Chapter 115: Driving the Wolves to Devour the Tiger

Chongshan Island.

From a distance, it was a primitive island. Most of it was covered in primeval jungle, aside from the coastlines on its southeastern sides.

Up close, however, one would find a small town near a spring on the northern edge of the primeval forest. The town was built against the great mountain that housed the spring, and within the mountain mists, a Daoist Temple was faintly visible.

Carved on the stone stele at the temple’s gate were two large words: Cangsong Temple!

Deep within the mist-shrouded Daoist Temple, inside a small palace perched on a cliff, Chengxi suddenly opened his eyes from his meditative trance. Immediately, the intricate runes of a Transfer Array materialized around him.

He coldly read the message brought to him by a puppet through the Transfer Array, then looked at Quecai beside him and said, “The princes truly have a fine scheme…”

Quecai, who was beside him, also learned everything through her own puppet at that moment. She looked at Chengxi with worry and said, “They’re coming with overwhelming force. Even if we can stop them with our preparations, I’m afraid our losses will be heavy, while Changqing will lose nothing at all.”

“Since our previous schemes have all failed, our only option is to settle this with a battle. They may be coming on strong, but with the Great Array I’ve prepared around the island, I can wait for them to tire themselves out. I won’t be at much of a disadvantage!”

As he spoke, he transformed into a streak of light, ascending to the sky to sit cross-legged beneath the clouds. Quecai naturally followed him, and then sixteen other Third Realm Cultivators appeared by his side.

These Cultivators included members of the Taiyin Sect, Vajra Temple, ‘First Day,’ and several Star Gods. Their reasons for coming to Chengxi’s side were all quite similar. Of course, the Third Realm Cultivators from the Taiyin Sect were all from unorthodox branches, as orthodox Taiyin Cultivators must enter a deep slumber upon reaching the Third Realm.

Chengxi didn’t hide any information. After calmly explaining the situation to everyone, he said, “I have long since set up a Transfer Array here. As long as you hold one of my refined Transfer Tokens, you can freely transfer your Primordial Spirit and Spiritual Body anywhere within a two-hundred-li radius.”

As he spoke, he slapped his storage bag and produced more than ten small, black tokens, distributing them to the group. Upon receiving the tokens, they immediately began to test them out, and it wasn’t long before they had skillfully mastered their use.

Quecai watched the overjoyed crowd, a hint of worry in her eyes. ‘Such transfers consume a massive amount of energy. Although the island has a Spirit Gathering Array, simultaneously supporting the rapid transfers of sixteen Third Realm Cultivators will drain all the stored Spiritual Qi in four hours at most. After that, Chengxi will have to use the Wood Spirit from his own Qi Sea to sustain it.’

But Chengxi hadn’t explained this to the others. ‘He clearly intends to use those four hours to crush his enemies.’

‘But…’

‘The other side has Taiyan Cultivators as well.’

Still, this was all they could muster. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have resorted to scheming so early on, only to give their enemies an excuse to act against them.

When the blazing sun reached its zenith, the sound of dragon roars echoed from the distant horizon. Two jiaolongs appeared and disappeared beneath the clouds, stirring the profound Water Spirit Qi between heaven and earth. Wherever they passed, the sea surface surged with massive waves over a hundred zhang high.

The two jiaolongs were, of course, Jiangcun and Yang Shu. Jiangcun seemed overjoyed at the moment, his massive body weaving continuously through the clouds. From time to time, he would spit out a ball of water, which would fall through the clouds and become a torrential downpour.

When Jiangcun saw Chongshan Island, he let out an excited roar and, swinging his massive body, accelerated into a dive toward the island. A wave several hundred zhang high followed closely behind him.

As he neared the island’s shallow waters, a dragon’s roar once again echoed between heaven and earth. Jiangcun’s body suddenly shot upward, and the surging Water Spirit Qi followed, climbing toward the sky. It pulled the ocean wave ever higher, until in the blink of an eye, it was hundreds of zhang tall. The wave blotted out the sun, plunging Chongshan Island into endless darkness.

The townsfolk on the island had long since fallen to their knees in terror, kowtowing endlessly toward the Daoist Temple on the mountain. But just as they prayed, the sky, which had been obscured by the colossal wave, suddenly reappeared. Sunlight once again shone down upon the town.

“Interesting!”

Jiangcun remarked with genuine admiration. Just as the giant wave approached the island’s shallow waters, the surging seawater had vanished into thin air with a flicker of space.

Jiangcun shouted to Chengxi in the sky across from him.

“Chengxi, hand over this Secret Technique, and I’ll plead with Fellow Daoist Changqing to spare your lineage’s legacy. How about it?”

Chengxi cupped his fist politely and replied, “Many thanks for Ninth Master’s kind offer, but I wish to test my sliver of a chance for survival under the Celestial Dao.”

“Don’t you regret this!”

“We Cultivators defy the heavens and change our fate. If we were ones to feel regret, could we have ever reached this stage?”

“Fine!”

Jiangcun turned his enormous head to look at Yang Shu beside him and said, “Brother Eight, let’s give this Fellow Daoist Chengxi a grand gift.”

As he spoke, he tilted his head back and spat out a ball of water. Within this ball was a streak of golden light. Yang Shu, beside him, did the same.

As they neared the sky above Chongshan Island, the two streaks of golden light intertwined, instantly forming a golden vortex. A dense Gold Spirit Qi erupted from the vortex, rapidly consuming the Wood Spirit around the island and continuously tearing at the space between heaven and earth.

Yet the Cultivators around Chengxi remained unmoved.

“Fellow Daoists, help me stop it!”

Chengxi said politely, looking at the monks from Vajra Temple beside him.

The four monks exchanged a look, then directly used their Transfer Tokens to appear near the golden vortex. Hongze immediately led three Water Cultivators to attack them.

However, none of the other Cultivators by Chengxi’s side showed any intention of going to reinforce them.

“ROAR—”

Jiangcun’s massive body plunged deep into the clouds above. The next moment, countless fine Water Swords shot out from within them.

At this, an Earth Vein Cultivator from ‘First Day’ finally stepped forward. The spell in his hands changed rapidly as he cast ‘Flying Sand and Stones,’ shattering all the falling Water Swords.

“Not bad at all!”

Jiangcun’s voice drifted down from the sky.

The ‘Flying Sand and Stones’ magic seemed simple, not as profound as the Third Realm’s ‘Dust Light Technique,’ but the impact of the sand and stones could break through anything. Moreover, it followed the principle of ‘Earth conquering Water.’

“Ninth Brother, stop playing around! We have business to attend to!”

Yang Shu’s voice came from the side. He had already reverted to his human form, his hands holding a fixed spell. Jiangcun emerged from the clouds and also resumed his human form, his hands similarly maintaining a fixed spell.

Then, the two of them retreated to the spot where the two golden lights had previously merged. They issued a simultaneous Imperial Decree from their lips: “Guide!”

From the vortex of merged golden light, a distorted, illusory Primordial Spirit instantly appeared. Dense Gold Spirit Qi swirled around the Primordial Spirit, forming blinding golden arrays.

The fighting Vajra Temple monks, as well as Hongze and his men, immediately fled the area covered by the golden arrays. They all sensed a dangerous aura brewing within.

Jiangcun looked down at the desperately praying townsfolk in the town on the island and whispered in a voice only he could hear, “The Saint is merciful.”

The moment his words fell, thick walls of ice materialized around him—ice walls constructed by Yang Shu.

And then…

With a deafening roar, the distorted golden Primordial Spirit exploded.
