My Co-renting Lady Boss
Chapter 2223 - 2219: Mo Feng Inn
Chapter 2223: Chapter 2219: Mo Feng Inn
"Alliances? You have your eye on him? To be honest, I also think he’s quite good, but unfortunately, his relationship with his wife is very close. They haven’t had children all these years, yet they’re still as intimate as ever. Even if I—your Third Aunt—were to make a move, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to win him over."
Hu Sanqiu shook her head; she didn’t hold much hope for Tang Ming’s desire to ally with Guo Cunhou.
Tang Ming was plotting in his mind about winning over Guo Cunhou. It seemed that Guo Cunhou had no notable weaknesses, but his household was quite easy to breach. Especially that love-struck wife of his.
Tang Ming secretly noted down this information about Guo Cunhou. Ying Chou had already driven their carriage away from the West Desolation and arrived in a small town near the West Desolation City, called Wanghuang City.
To call Wanghuang City a city was an exaggeration; it was more of a small town.
Compared to the large cities like Tianpo City and West Desolation City, this place appeared both narrow and shabby.
Yet Hu Sanqiu remarked that this was the largest minerals trading market in the Jiulong Dynasty, because Wanghuang City had another name: Artisan God City.
"Let’s settle at an inn first, then in the evening we’ll check out the auction house."
Hu Sanqiu curled up in Hu Mei’er’s arms, yawning, looking every bit like she hadn’t gotten enough sleep.
Hu Mei’er nodded: "I’ll follow Third Aunt’s instructions."
"Don’t worry, even if Tang Ming’s elixirs can’t be exchanged for spirit stones, I can still bring the minerals back."
Hu Sanqiu’s laughter floated across.
Tang Ming’s lips curled upward: "Of course, I can’t compare to Third Aunt’s skills, but if I let you handle everything, wouldn’t that make me completely useless?"
"Alright then, I’ll happily enjoy my leisure. If I’m not mistaken, there’s an old inn called Mo Feng Inn not too far ahead, let’s stay there."
After Hu Sanqiu mentioned the name of an inn, she fell silent.
Ying Chou turned around to look inside the carriage, and Tang Ming nodded at him: "Listen to Third Aunt."
Mo Feng Inn wasn’t large; in fact, it was the smallest and oldest inn in the entire Wanghuang City.
When Tang Ming’s carriage pulled up in front of Mo Feng Inn, the inn’s attendant was actually dozing off at the entrance.
Ying Chou furrowed his brows but stepped forward regardless, approaching his side.
The young attendant didn’t look older than fifteen or sixteen; he rubbed his eyes and stood up: "Oh, three guests, are you looking to stay? We’ve hardly had any guests lately, please come inside."
"No guests for a long time? Really? We’ve heard tales of the renown of Mo Feng Inn. Our elders instructed us before leaving home to stay at your inn if we ever came to Wanghuang City, so how could it have been days without guests?"
Ying Chou exaggerated his expressions.
But his words surprised the inn’s attendant even more. His mouth twitched: "Are you kidding me, sir? Did your elders really say that?"
"Why would I deceive you? What’s the issue with your inn? Can’t we stay?"
Ying Chou took some spiritual coins and handed them to the attendant. He was quite intrigued by Mo Feng Inn; after all, even though Wanghuang City was small, there were still many inns.
Hu Sanqiu specially mentioned this smallest, shabbiest inn; if there were no mysteries inside, Ying Chou wouldn’t believe it.
Tang Ming and Hu Mei’er perked up their ears to listen, while Hu Sanqiu only moved slightly in Hu Mei’er’s arms, looking as if she were watching a show.
The young attendant glanced back to find the shopkeeper absent, then softly said: "You might want to move a bit forward to another inn; our inn is haunted by a fox spirit."
The attendant’s words made Ying Chou and Tang Ming’s pupils constrict, and Tang Ming instinctively glanced at the fox spirit in Hu Mei’er’s arms.
Standing next to Tang Ming, Hu Mei’er burst into laughter: "Interesting, no wonder my elders told us to stay here. Lead the way, young brother, we’ll take two superior rooms."
The young attendant stared for a long time before muttering under his breath: "Idiots."
Watching the attendant go inside, Hu Mei’er looked down at Hu Sanqiu: "Third Aunt, are there really people from our clan here?"
"You’ll know once you stay. Would I set you up?"
Hu Sanqiu didn’t directly answer the question, which only made Hu Mei’er and Tang Ming believe even more that this Mo Feng Inn was extraordinary.
Indeed, once they entered the inn, they found it much cleaner than expected. Though lacking guests, the small dining area up front was adorned with many exquisite items that looked beautiful.
The innkeeper behind the counter was a burly man in his forties.
However, this burly man wore a dainty white dress and had elegant floral decorations on his head.
When Tang Ming’s group entered, his gaze first fell on Hu Mei’er and the fox in her arms.
A sinister laugh escaped his lips: "No wonder we have guests; it’s old friends visiting."
"The inn looks so bleak, I naturally have to support your business, but you still have such a strange taste, taking on a man’s body. No wonder no one wants to stay at your place."
Hu Sanqiu flicked her tail in Hu Mei’er’s arms.
The young attendant blinked, turning to look at Hu Mei’er. He thought it was Hu Mei’er who had just spoken.
The innkeeper slapped the table: "Xia’er, still dazing off? Go to the back courtyard and tidy up for the guests. These guests are from my hometown; there’s no charge."
"Okay, got it, boss."
The young attendant nodded and headed to the back courtyard.
Hu Sanqiu leapt down from Hu Mei’er’s arms, then landed beside the innkeeper: "Mei’er, let me introduce you, this is your aunt. Hu Jiuze."
"Hu Jiuze? Isn’t she dead?"
Hu Mei’er blurted out instinctively.
To Hu Mei’er’s knowledge, Hu Jiusheng had many siblings, but only Hu Jiusheng and Hu Jiuze were from the same mother.
When Hu Mei’er’s mother betrayed West Continent City, Hu Jiuze died protecting Tang Mosheng’s wife. She was the contract Spiritual Beast of Tang Mosheng’s wife.
But Hu Mei’er never expected that after all these years, her aunt, who was presumed long dead, would still be alive and in such a form.
"Is she Mei’er, that woman’s daughter?"
Hu Jiuze showed no warmth toward Hu Mei’er, instead revealing an expression of disdain.
Hu Sanqiu coughed: "I say, Hu Jiuze, even if you have issues with Mei’er’s parents, you shouldn’t take it out on Mei’er. Let me introduce you again, this is Mei’er’s fiancé. Tang Mosheng’s son, Tang Ming."
