My Child and I Married a Billionaire
Chapter 386: Forcing Me to Get Tough
The housekeeper saw how agitated she was and quickly tried to calm her down.
"Ma’am, you’re not planning on playing hardball with the Young Master, are you? With his temper, if he found out you were going behind his back... I thought you handled it quite well last time. Just calm down a bit. How about this? I have an idea..."
A few minutes later, after getting rid of Amina’s two brothers with some excuse, Mrs. Walton left the house.
Sitting in the car, she calmly called Amina.
"Darling, what are you up to? I miss you and was hoping we could chat. Do you have time?"
Amina was flustered by the call, but this was Zeke’s mother, after all. Flustered or not, she had to face her.
"I have time, Auntie. Where should I meet you?"
Mrs. Walton, assuming she was at work, sent her an address.
Soon, Amina arrived on her electric scooter.
Seeing that she wasn’t wearing a delivery driver’s uniform, Mrs. Walton assumed she had changed clothes just for the meeting.
"So considerate! Did you change clothes just to see me? Did I interrupt your work?"
Amina, a bit clueless, told her the truth.
"No, I’m not working today. You know how I was taking the adult self-study exam? I got into Veridia University of Science and Technology. Zeke wants me to focus on my studies. He was worried that delivering food would interfere, so he told me to quit my job for now."
’Zeke told her to quit her job? So he’s completely supporting her, and her grandmother too?’
The thought of those two greedy brothers, and the idea that if Amina married into their family, they would be forever entangled with that rotten, broken home, made Mrs. Walton’s anger flare up.
But she forcefully suppressed it.
"You were walking a little strangely today. I thought you’d hurt yourself and that’s why you weren’t at work. Turns out you’re not working at all anymore."
Amina’s face instantly turned red.
’Was my walk that obvious?’
’It’s all Zeke’s fault... he’s just relentless every day...’
Although Amina didn’t say a word, Mrs. Walton understood everything in an instant from her flushed little face.
’Zeke won’t let her work. Don’t tell me he wants her to stay home and get pregnant? Is he really planning to produce a grandchild for me to hold?’
’Though she was indeed at an age where she wanted grandchildren, she had no interest in a grandchild from that kind of bloodline, from that sort of trash!’
After some more meaningless small talk, Mrs. Walton sent Amina on her way and, with a grim face, instructed the housekeeper.
"Call her two brothers. Tell them to come to the house."
Amina’s two brothers were at home, plotting their next move.
’That woman must be deliberately avoiding us, using a business trip as an excuse. She has no intention of solving the problem!’
If this kept up, putting it off from today to tomorrow, and tomorrow to the day after, they couldn’t afford to wait.
’If this doesn’t work, we’ll play hardball. We’ll go straight to the TV station reporters!’
But they didn’t even know where the TV station was...
As the two of them were buzzing around at home like headless flies, they unexpectedly got a call. Mrs. Walton was back and wanted them to come over.
"She knows what’s good for her! Let’s go!"
The two of them took a taxi to the Walton estate again.
This time, they were invited directly inside.
Riding on the shuttle cart, following the housekeeper toward the villa’s main hall, the two were truly having their eyes opened.
From the outside, they only knew the villa was big and beautiful. They never imagined it could be so huge and gorgeous on the inside, even more magnificent than the castles they’d seen on TV. This family was so rich!
’That silly girl Amina actually managed to latch onto their son. She’s got some skills, I’ll give her that.’
’Their own sister has hit the jackpot. If her two brothers still can’t make something of themselves, wouldn’t they become the laughingstock of the entire village?’
They thought that with the Walton Family being so wealthy, getting three to five million out of them would be no problem.
Finally, they entered the main hall and met the elegant and imposing Mrs. Walton, who then informed them.
"After you left the other day, I called my son to ask. He said there’s nothing going on between him and your sister. Gentlemen, I’m sorry, but our family doesn’t run a charity. Since there’s nothing between my son and your sister, I have no reason to involve myself with you any further. So, please, don’t come back and bother us again."
The two of them had spent the whole trip over planning how to spend the money they were about to get, and now they were backing out of the deal?
The older brother instantly flew into a rage.
"Shameless! He went to our house with my sister! He obviously slept with her, and now you’re saying it’s nothing? How can you be so shameless? You think you can just use her and toss her aside? We’re not that easily bullied! Call your son! Tell him to come back and say it to our faces if he’s got the guts!"
Mrs. Walton watched them with a cold sneer.
"On matters like this, I’m afraid you’re not as well-informed as the parties involved. It can’t just be whatever you say it is, right? Speaking of which, I’ve never even met your sister. She hasn’t come to my door demanding a position in the family, yet here the two of you are, making a scene. Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?"
’That useless sister of theirs! Things have already come this far, and she still hasn’t gone to their house to demand her status?’
The two brothers had no idea where Amina was. If they did, they would have dragged her over here long ago!
"Cut the crap! We didn’t wait this long for nothing. Your son has to come back today and give us an explanation! Otherwise, we’re going to the TV station! My sister’s reputation is ruined in our village. She’ll never be able to get married now. You have to take responsibility!"
Mrs. Walton ignored them and stood up to leave.
"In any case, I’ve said all I have to say. I’ve been polite enough with you. If you continue to shout, don’t blame me for calling the police. Housekeeper, see them out."
As her voice fell, the housekeeper gestured for the two men to leave.
Seeing Mrs. Walton about to head upstairs and ignore them, the older brother lunged forward and grabbed her wrist.
"We’re not done talking and you’re leaving? Don’t you dare! You have to give us an answer today! Don’t think you can bully people just because you have some stinking money! If you don’t settle this with us, we’ll come back and cause a scene every single day! We’re not finished with you!"
Mrs. Walton winced in pain from his grip and said with a cold face.
"You want to lay a hand on me? Do you think those security guards I have at the gate are just for show?"
The older brother shot back, "What? You want to hit us? You take advantage of someone and then hit them? Is there no law for you people! You evil woman! You never intended to solve the problem and you made us wait so long. You’re truly vicious!"
SLAP!
Mrs. Walton raised her other hand and struck him across the face.
"In all my years, no one has ever dared to be so insolent with me. Who do you think you are? Let go!"
The older brother was stunned by the slap. When he came to his senses, he flew into a rage and shoved Mrs. Walton hard.
"Get the TV station! Get the TV station! They’re hitting people, they’re bullying us! Second Brother, go find the TV station!"
The room instantly erupted into chaos.
The nanny had said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Amina, bored and with time on her hands, was in the kitchen learning to cook from the nanny when her phone rang again.
She casually answered it.
Unexpectedly, the call was from Mrs. Walton’s number, but it was the housekeeper who spoke.
"Is this Miss Amina? Please come to the hospital immediately. There’s been an incident. Your brother came to the house and injured our madam. It’s very serious!"
