My Child and I Married a Billionaire

Chapter 370: Let’s Go Back to Sleep

  • Next Chapter

Getting harassed like that ruined any mood for a stroll.

Cecelia Archer and Damien Vaughn had no choice but to return to the hotel.

It was one thing when they were outside, but back in the privacy of their room, they couldn’t help but be drawn to each other again.

Since they had nothing better to do anyway, they might as well continue what they were doing in bed.

Cecelia realized she had changed. She really had.

Why had she never noticed how intoxicating and charming Damien Vaughn was before? Now, she couldn’t get enough of him.

The two of them spent the entire time wrapped up in each other, forgoing food and drink, until Ryan and the others returned from work. Only then did Cecelia reveal her plan.

After contacting the local police and getting a good night’s rest, she and Damien Vaughn set out onto the streets again the next day.

They had been under surveillance for a full 20 hours. Seeing the couple emerge, the other party grew anxious.

At an intersection, they impatiently bundled the two into a van.

Sacks were thrown over their heads, and they were driven to a secluded location.

After a long, bumpy ride, they were pushed out of the vehicle. Finally, they heard a familiar voice: Second Uncle’s.

"Take those things off their heads."

Light flooded their vision again. They were in an abandoned house.

Second Uncle sat squarely in the center of the room, surrounded by several tall, imposing bodyguards.

With an air of someone who had already won, Second Uncle sneered at them.

"Long time no see. Cecelia, you’re quite the runner. I didn’t expect you to have a secret reunion with your husband. But that’s fine. It saves me the trouble. I’ll just take care of you both here, together. At least you’ll have company on your way to the underworld. You can say your uncle did you a favor."

Cecelia feigned fear and asked what was going on.

"Second Uncle, Damien is your own nephew. What are you doing?"

"My own nephew? If you hadn’t reminded me, I would have almost forgotten. But what kind of nephew in this world backs his own uncle into a corner? If he hadn’t tried to leave me with no way out first, would I have gone to all this trouble? Damien Vaughn, I don’t bother those who don’t bother me, but I will strike back if provoked. Wouldn’t you agree?"

Damien Vaughn had no memory of his uncle at the moment.

But seeing the man’s expression and hearing his words filled him with disgust.

"I don’t know what I did to you before. I was attacked a while ago, and now I don’t remember anything. You hate me this much... it seems the person who attacked me last time was also arranged by you."

"You don’t remember anything? Heh, I went to all that trouble, spent all that money, and painstakingly arranged everything... only for you to suffer such a minor loss?"

At this point, his uncle didn’t bother hiding it anymore.

"That’s right, I arranged it. So what? I’ve long found you to be an eyesore. Everything was perfectly arranged last time, so we wouldn’t have to go through all this again, but who knew... Enough talk. Today is the day you die. Damien Vaughn, I trust your father is watching everything you’ve done from heaven. He’ll understand my actions. As long as you don’t resist, your uncle will let you go peacefully. Compared to you, I’m being quite merciful, aren’t I?"

Cecelia pretended to be nervous and clung to Damien Vaughn’s arm.

"Second Uncle, can’t we just admit we were wrong? If you let us go, we won’t interfere in your affairs anymore. Can’t we just run the Vaughn Group together? Do you really have to be so ruthless?"

"Scared now? It’s too late. Look at the man next to you. He doesn’t give a damn if you live or die. Not a hint of admitting fault. If you’re going to blame someone, blame yourself for being blind enough to choose a bastard like him!"

After speaking, Second Uncle waved a hand at his men, and they all swarmed in, surrounding the couple.

Each of them held an iron pipe, and every single one was big and burly.

Damien Vaughn wasn’t flustered at all. His eyes turned cold.

"Before I make a move, whatever you’ve said, whatever you’ve done, there’s still room to take it back. But once I make my move, there’s no turning back. Are you sure you want to take this step?"

’He’s about to die, and he’s still talking tough?’

Second Uncle didn’t believe one man could fight so many.

"Cut the crap! If I let you walk out of here today, then I’m your fucking grandson! What are you all standing around for? Get them!"

At Second Uncle’s command, the men swung their iron pipes at the couple.

Damien Vaughn pulled Cecelia into his embrace, then lashed out with his arms and legs, brawling with the attackers.

Outside, Ryan and the legal team were watching with the police. When they heard the commotion inside, they immediately rushed in.

In the middle of the fight, the attackers suddenly found themselves surrounded.

Second Uncle never expected Damien Vaughn to have arranged everything in advance. He tried to escape, but even though he had many men, how could their iron pipes compare to professionals? They were all quickly subdued and forced to the ground.

Ryan rushed over to check on Damien Vaughn and Cecelia Archer.

"President Vaughn, President Archer, are you two okay?"

Damien had held Cecelia with one arm while fending off the crowd with his other. Cecelia was completely unharmed, but he had been struck several times with the pipes.

The iron pipes had no eyes; some hit his back, some hit his arm, and one struck the back of his head.

He hadn’t felt the pain during the chaotic brawl, but now that Ryan asked, the agony began to set in with a delay.

But Damien Vaughn was never the type of man to complain about pain. He shook his head and said he was fine.

But just as the words left his mouth, a stream of blood trickled from the back of his head down onto his back.

Damien Vaughn felt a wave of dizziness and staggered. Cecelia and Ryan quickly caught him.

"Damien!"

"President Vaughn!"

"I’m fine..."

"How can you say you’re fine? You’re bleeding! Your head is injured!"

Cecelia was scared to death.

’His previous injuries just healed. If something else happens now...’

"Call an ambulance! Get him to the hospital, quickly!"

Although they got him there quickly, Damien Vaughn still lost consciousness.

He had a large gash on his head from the blow.

After the doctor stitched up the wound, he was temporarily placed in the intensive care unit to recover.

Cecelia Archer and Ryan stood outside the room, looking through the glass at the man who had been so full of life just moments ago, now pale and unconscious again. They were both filled with heartache and worry.

Thinking back on her actions over the past two days, Cecelia was so full of regret she wanted to slap herself.

’He’s already been through so much. Why did I have to act up? Why was I so desperately clinging to him for intimacy?’

’Look how thin he’s gotten.’

’Do people only learn to cherish someone when they’re about to lose them?’

Cecelia and Ryan kept vigil outside the ICU all night. Thank heavens, his condition stabilized, and Damien Vaughn was finally moved out.

"Ryan, you should go home and rest. I’ll stay here with him."

Ryan was reluctant to leave. "You haven’t rested in so long either; your body won’t be able to take it. President Archer, you should be the one to go back. I’ll stay with him."

They couldn’t agree. In the end, they both stayed.

"President Archer, I’m going to go buy some food. You stay here with him for now. I’ll be right back."

While Damien Vaughn was still unconscious, Ryan went out to get them a meal.

Cecelia rested her head by the side of the bed, holding Damien Vaughn’s hand. She stared at his pale, gaunt face and cried silently.

She didn’t know how long she had been crying when Damien Vaughn’s fingers twitched, and he slowly opened his eyes.
