My CEO Husband Says I'm Irreplaceable
Chapter 179: Play It Again
Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Play It Again
’This is the perfect chance to leave the hotel.’
The woman nodded hurriedly, and the others helped get Jenson Whitman into the car.
Vesper Grayson drove them to the hospital.
The doctor said, "It’s a good thing this young lady performed first aid immediately when Mr. Whitman had his attack. Otherwise, I’m afraid his chances of survival would have been slim!"
The woman grabbed Vesper Grayson’s arm, thanking her profusely.
"Miss, thank you so much for saving my husband. May I ask your name?"
"It was nothing. My name is Vesper Grayson."
"Miss Grayson, thank you. The doctor said acute myocardial infarctions are extremely dangerous. If it weren’t for you, he might have..." The woman wiped away her tears and quickly took a check from her purse, handing it to her. "This is a token of my gratitude. Please don’t refuse it."
A check for ten million.
’As expected of the richest man’s wife, a cool ten million just like that.’
But she didn’t need a check right now. She had no identification, so even if she took it, she couldn’t cash it.
To her, this check was just a useless piece of paper!
Vesper Grayson didn’t take it. She said gently, "If you truly wish to thank me, could I please borrow your phone?"
The woman was stunned, not expecting such a request.
"To be honest, I was kidnapped and brought to Veridia. I just managed to escape, and I want to contact my husband to come pick me up!" Vesper Grayson knew the woman before her wasn’t a bad person. It was better to tell her the truth to earn her trust and help.
"Human trafficking? I can’t believe that still happens these days!" The woman gripped her hand. "Don’t worry. You saved my husband today, which makes you the Whitman Family’s savior. In Veridia, no one dares to disrespect the Whitman Family. I will guarantee your safety here!"
Vesper Grayson’s tense nerves finally relaxed. She had taken a huge risk to save him, hoping to find protection in this unfamiliar place where she knew no one.
"Thank you."
"My name is Renee Rhodes. You can call me Miss Rhodes."
With that, Renee Rhodes handed her a cell phone.
Vesper Grayson quickly took it and called Jared Hawthorne.
At that moment, Jared Hawthorne was standing in a Veridian traffic monitoring center, his dark eyes fixed on the screen before him.
A blue Chevrolet sped along the road and stopped at a hotel. Two men then escorted Vesper Grayson inside. Seeing this, Jared Hawthorne’s face darkened. He looked murderous.
He told Maxim Chandler to keep watching while he rushed over with his men without a moment’s delay.
Running every red light, he finally reached the hotel.
Leon Quillan got the details and rushed straight to the guest room, only to find it empty.
Just then, a call came in from Maxim Chandler.
"President Hawthorne, those two men came out half an hour after going in. We didn’t see the Madam."
Jared Hawthorne’s hand clutching the phone tightened. Suppressing his fury, he growled, "What do you mean only the two of them came out?"
Maxim Chandler repeated himself.
"Keep tracking them. Don’t let them get away!" Jared Hawthorne ordered, his face like frost.
After hanging up, he took Leon Quillan to the hotel’s security room and easily pulled up the surveillance footage.
After watching the footage, Leon Quillan said, "President Hawthorne, the Madam came out by herself."
Jared Hawthorne said nothing, continuing to watch the monitor.
The footage showed that ten minutes after Vesper Grayson left, another man hurried over. Finding her gone, he immediately searched the floor, eventually pulling a cell phone out of a hallway trash can. The man looked panicked, went back into the room, and then quickly left, supporting the other man.
"President Hawthorne, it was definitely the two of them who left. We didn’t see the Madam leave the hotel."
’She wasn’t found by them, and she wasn’t seen leaving... Did a living person just vanish from the hotel into thin air?’
The hotel manager, having heard the news, rushed over.
"Who are you people?"
Leon Quillan stepped forward to explain the situation. The manager’s face went pale. Seeing their formidable aura, she knew they weren’t people to be trifled with.
"We had no idea! They showed us identification and paid for the room, so we had no right to prevent them from checking in."
The manager had the front desk pull up the registration information, which Maxim Chandler checked.
"President Hawthorne, the IDs are fake."
The manager felt like her world was collapsing.
"The forgeries were so realistic! I honestly had no idea they were kidnappers."
Leon Quillan didn’t waste time arguing with her. He pulled out a photo of Vesper Grayson and placed it in front of her. "Have you seen this woman?"
The manager took it, studied it for a moment, and shook her head.
"No. If I had seen someone this beautiful, I’m sure I would never forget her!"
Jared Hawthorne’s eyes narrowed in thought.
After a moment, he said in a low voice, "Play it again!"
When the footage reached the part showing the rescue in the lobby...
"Pause!"
The woman performing the acupuncture kept her head down the entire time, her face obscured by the brim of her hat and a mask. But her technique... it was so familiar.
Maxim Chandler had also seen the Madam perform acupuncture before.
"President Hawthorne, I think that’s the Madam!"
The manager quickly added, "The man being rescued is Jenson Whitman, the richest man in Veridia. The woman performing the acupuncture is wearing a hotel cleaner’s uniform, but she doesn’t seem to be one of my employees."
She didn’t recall having any cleaners on staff who knew medicine and had such a graceful figure.
To verify the theory, she specifically called over all the cleaners. After questioning them, she discovered one of them was inexplicably missing a uniform.
Checking the surveillance footage from the hotel entrance, they saw her getting into the car with Jenson Whitman and Mrs. Whitman.
The color returned to Jared Hawthorne’s face. His Vesper was brilliant, as expected.
"Find a way to contact the Whitman Family."
"Yes, sir."
Suddenly, a cell phone rang.
Jared Hawthorne answered.
"Hello?"
"Elias, it’s me. I’m at..." She gave him an address.
Earlier, Jenson Whitman had undergone a full set of checkups and was confirmed to be out of danger. Grateful to Vesper for saving his life, Mrs. Whitman warmly invited her to be a guest at the Whitman residence.
Alone in a foreign place, she was surrounded by danger. Compared to staying by herself, going to the Whitman family’s villa was obviously a safer and more secure option, so Vesper Grayson did not refuse.
Mrs. Whitman was a warm and thoughtful hostess, insisting that Vesper stay for a meal.
"Miss Grayson, you mustn’t refuse. It’s just a simple meal."
Vesper Grayson smiled gracefully. "Mr. Whitman is just beginning to recover from his heart attack, and the underlying risks haven’t been eliminated. If you trust me, I can create a personalized dietary plan for him. Following it for his daily meals and ensuring he gets plenty of rest will help stabilize his heart and prevent a relapse."
"Miss Grayson, your skills are miraculous. Of course I wouldn’t question you." Mrs. Whitman poured her a cup of tea, her smile gentle. "I really can’t thank you enough."
"Mom, how’s Dad now?" A man in a white shirt and black suit arrived, looking travel-worn.
Mrs. Whitman quickly stood up. "He’s fine, he’s stable now. It was this Miss Grayson who helped him in time. Otherwise, your father really would have been in mortal danger."
While at the hospital, Renee Rhodes had already called her son, Chadwick Whitman, to explain the situation.
Chadwick Whitman breathed a sigh of relief. His gaze fell on Vesper Grayson, and he froze for a moment.
When Vesper Grayson saw the man’s face clearly, a fleeting look of surprise flashed in her eyes.
Chadwick Whitman quickly snapped out of it and stepped forward with a serious expression.
"Miss Grayson, thank you for saving my father. But... you look a little familiar. I was wondering... have we met somewhere before?"
