Chapter 2157: Chapter 2159: Jiang vs. Fu Yi
Not far away, a man wearing glasses quietly adjusted his glasses, holding his phone in hand, the corners of his mouth slightly upturned.
Should he call her back?
Jiang Nuan firmly rubbed the dog’s head, hugging it and mumbling, "Next time, you’re not allowed to run around on your own. No way, next time I’ll put a proper leash on you, no more running freely. Otherwise, if I lose you, and your owner asks me to replace you, where would I even find an identical corgi..."
Upon hearing the word "owner," the dog seemed to understand, its big eyes swirling with thought, and it turned its head to bark towards the small woods. Startled passersby thought it was going to bite and walked around them.
"Little Potato, what are you doing?"
"Woof woof!"
"What’s over there?"
"Woof woof woof!"
The little corgi enthusiastically nudged her hand with its head, wagging its tail as if to say ’follow me’.
Afraid it would run off again, Jiang Nuan put the leash on it before looking in the direction it excitedly barked.
"Do you know someone over there?"
"Woof woof woof!"
The dog tugged on the leash to lead her along.
Jiang Nuan’s expression was tinged with helplessness as she scrutinized it with guesses in her eyes, "Is your owner over there?"
The little corgi got excited hearing the word "owner" again, wagging its tail, "Woof!"
"Pfft." Jiang Nuan couldn’t help but laugh, bending down to stroke its soft head, "Why do I feel like you understand me?"
"Woof woof!"
She muttered to herself, "Your owner has trouble with his legs, and the Filipino maid said he hasn’t left his place since moving in, so it’s not your owner over there, is it a new dog friend?"
The dog panted with its tongue out, unusually not barking, appearing as if shaking its head like a child.
Jiang Nuan couldn’t help but laugh, straightening up and telling it, "Alright, let’s go have a look."
The corgi immediately set off, pulling her in the direction of the woods where Fu Yi was hiding.
"Slow down," Jiang Nuan urged, trying to keep up. After sitting for a while, her heels felt numb as if stepping on cotton, as she stumblingly chased after it.
Mahali’s park wasn’t big, lacking the beautiful infrastructure of domestic parks. It was more like a patch of lush greenery. The pathway leading into the woods was paved with warm pebble stones, winding its way inward.
Sunlight filtered through the leaves in the woods, presenting a distinct scenery. Many locals living nearby spread picnic cloths, gathering with friends or family to enjoy the leisurely springtime.
Jiang Nuan didn’t see any other dogs along the way.
The little corgi led her to a bench near the lawn where she had been resting, sniffing around with a puzzled expression.
"Woof?"
Jiang Nuan looked around and shrugged at it, "Sorry, I don’t see your dog friend either."
Fu Yi, who had changed his hiding spot before they approached but could still see and hear them, twitched the corners of his eyes twice.
His thin lips silently mouthed, "Dog friend!"
He recalled she had previously called him a "dog-man," and now she’s talking about a "dog friend." Even knowing it was a misunderstanding, his chest felt as though someone had stomped on it, and his handsome face darkened.
"Whimper." The little corgi circled the bench unwillingly, whimpering and lifting its head to look around.
