Jiang Nuan walked out of Wangfujing, heading towards Chang’an Street under the shade of camphor trees.

The sunlight filtered through the green canopy, warming her face, and the pedestrians on the boulevard seemed enveloped in summer vibes.

As Jiang Nuan walked along, her heartbeat quickened uncontrollably.

It felt like a scene from long ago, when she would get off school and head to the agreed spot to wait for him to come and find her.

After searching and not finding him, she simply sat down on the first bench they agreed upon and waited.

Feeling agitated, Jiang Nuan looked up at the sky, where the sun was slowly being covered by dark clouds, as if it was going to rain.

She glanced at her watch again, having waited for nearly forty minutes.

Her toes were numb from sitting, so she stood up and walked a bit around the fountain pool at the square.

Fu Yi had arranged to meet at the first bench, and she didn’t dare wander too far, afraid that if he arrived and her phone was dead, he wouldn’t be able to find her. So, she only circled the fountain pool once before hurrying back.

Having said that, he exchanged greetings with Fu Yi, thumping each other’s chests, and went inside.

In the corridor outside the emergency surgery room, Fu Yi held back his anger, glancing at his watch, his handsome face stern, his piercing phoenix eyes staring at her, he asked in a low voice, "Speak, how did the child end up taking sleeping pills?"

Gu Qing burst into tears, covering her mouth, her eyes reddened as she explained, "I-I had no choice, I just went out to film a commercial. Before I left, I told him to wait at home obediently for me to return. I didn’t know he would... would mistake the sleeping pill bottle on the table for candy."
