Chapter 473 Tension In The Air
Chapter 473 Tension In The Air
“Yuan, it’s good to see that you guys managed to come out safely. So, what actually happened inside the portal? Did you find anything?”
Archmage Isadora approached Yuan with curiosity. She was eager to know what Yuan and his wives experienced inside the portal and what kind of things they found. Her excitement was palpable.
King Richard and the others followed Archmage Isadora and stood before Yuan. Curiosity was written all over their faces, especially on King Richard’s and Archmage Eldrick’s.
Crown Prince Daniel, however, wasn’t as excited as the others. As the crown prince of a powerful empire, he had witnessed a fair share of treasures in the royal palace.
Nevertheless, seeing King Richard and the others so excited, he couldn’t help but become interested in knowing what kind of treasures Yuan and his wives found inside the portal.
‘Since this is the ruin of an ancient civilization, the treasures found inside the portal must be legendary artifacts used by gods,’ Daniel pondered.
The value of the treasures Yuan and his wives found inside the portal could be very high. Most of them could be considered legendary artifacts from ancient times. It’s no wonder King Richard and the others were so interested.
Even the Lionheart Empire only has one legendary artifact: a spear used by the first emperor of the empire, the Golden Lion Spear—a long golden spear that could penetrate any defensive barrier or armor with ease and deliver a devastating blow.
Even as the Crown Prince of the Empire, Daniel had only seen a glimpse of the spear in the secret chamber of the royal treasury, known only to a few members of the royal family.
If Yuan indeed found artifacts of such caliber, it would greatly benefit the empire. However, the only problem was that Daniel wasn’t sure if Yuan would hand over such artifacts, even if they offered gold coins for them.
Grace suddenly looked at them with a cold, emotionless expression. A single glance from her sent chills down their spines.
“We did find something inside the chamber, but it’s not what you think. So don’t ask about it anymore.”
Upon hearing her cold and murderous voice, King Richard and the others shuddered in fear. For a moment, they felt as though their souls had left their bodies in Grace’s presence.
“Hah? What do you mean by that? Are you thinking of coveting the ancient artifacts all by yourselves?! I won’t let you have the treasures for yourselves!”
Suddenly, a loud, arrogant voice resounded from the back, shocking everyone at the scene. Turning around, they saw the owner of the voice: none other than the Holy Son, Arthur.
Arthur had a wide grin on his face as he approached Yuan and his wives with his Holy Knights. Inwardly, he was very happy to see everyone dissatisfied with Grace’s response to King Richard and the others.
‘Now how the hell are you going to get away? This is the best chance for me to fight against you, Yuan,’ Arthur thought, showing a vicious grin at Yuan and his wives.
Yuan and his wives raised their brows and looked at Arthur with stern expressions. They already disliked this guy, and now he was causing more trouble.
“H-Holy Son Arthur…What do you mean by your words?” King Richard asked with a concerned look on his face, his voice trembling as he felt the tension in the air.
“What? I’m stating the fact here,” Arthur replied to King Richard, looking at Yuan with a smug smile. “How can we let him keep all the treasures? After all, we’re the ones who found the secret chamber first, so the treasures should belong to all of us, isn’t that right?”
‘Oh dear god, does the Holy Son want us to get killed? At this rate, I’m sure that Yuan won’t stay silent listening to his nonsense!’ King Richard screamed inwardly in frustration, noticing the cold glint in Yuan and his wives’ eyes.
“Holy Son Arthur, don’t forget that Yuan and his wives saved our lives numerous times. It was because of him that we managed to come out of the miasma with minimal casualties.”
Upon hearing King Richard’s words, everyone nodded in agreement. They felt grateful to Yuan and his wives for saving their lives from the corrupted monsters. Yet, this idiotic Holy Son was trying to turn them against Yuan—their savior.
“Indeed. Mr. Yuan and his wives saved our lives, and compared to our lives, those treasures mean nothing.”
“I couldn’t agree more. Besides, we have to face really strong monsters in the next few days. We should unite to defeat them and accomplish our mission.”
“That’s exactly what I was about to say.”
“The Holy Son of the Holy Church is really an idiot. How can he think of something so repulsive at a time like this?”
“Indeed, he is just tarnishing the reputation of the Holy Church and the Holy Empire.”
“A good-for-nothing Holy Son indeed!”
Murmurs of angry people filled the area, and many began to doubt if the Holy Son’s brain was functioning properly. How could he be so dumb?
Upon hearing the people’s response, King Richard sighed in relief. The people didn’t respond the way Arthur wanted them to.
On the other hand, Arthur and the Holy Knights’ faces turned extremely pale. Seeing that their plan didn’t work and had backfired, they realized they had become enemies with everyone.
‘What happened to these people? Why are they siding with that bastard?!’ Arthur looked at the crowd with a dumbfounded expression, seemingly in disbelief.
‘What the hell is happening? Why is not a single one of them supporting our Holy Son?’
The Holy Knights’ faces turned extremely pale, and they began to panic as the situation got out of hand and started to backfire on them.
“Hahaha, as expected of the Holy Son of the Holy Light Empire, extremely clever with his consOriginal, very clever indeed,” Yuan suddenly burst into laughter.
Seeing him laugh like that, everyone looked at him with confusion, including his wives. King Richard and the others sensed that something bad was about to happen at any minute.
“Haha, do you think a mortal like you can use those so-called treasures? Don’t make me laugh!” Yuan sneered at Arthur, and his wives chuckled at his words.
“How can you be sure that it’s no use to us? Do you think I’m an idiot? Are you looking down on me?” Arthur shrugged at Yuan with a nonchalant attitude, as if he had total control over the situation.
“Is that so?” Yuan frowned at Arthur, and suddenly, a black dagger appeared in his hand out of thin air, making everyone look at the scene in awe.
“Then why don’t you try using this dagger? This is the dagger I found inside the secret chamber.”
Yuan tossed the dagger, and it fell onto the ground. This dagger was none other than the soul weapon he acquired inside the secret chamber—Slaughtering Abyss.
Everyone couldn’t help but be amazed at the dagger’s beauty. It was a piece of art, and everything about it was just too perfect. They could feel a profound aura from the dagger, as if it was going to swallow them.
“What is this? Such beautiful craftsmanship! This dagger was truly forged by a famous blacksmith in ancient times!”
Archmage Eldrick couldn’t help but admire the dagger’s beauty. It was truly an elegant piece of art, though highly dangerous.
“I can’t help but truly wonder what kind of material this dagger is made of. It’s so dark that it seems to be devouring the light itself!”
Archmage Isadora was also intrigued by the dagger’s appearance. She would love to experiment with it to unveil what kind of materials were used to make the dagger.
‘This dagger seems to be really powerful, even without any mana in it… If I use this dagger, there’s a chance I could defeat Yuan and take his women for myself. This is a great opportunity!’ Arthur thought with a serious look, smiling inwardly at Yuan’s foolishness.
“What are you waiting for? Pick up the dagger if you can, or go and hide under your mother’s skirts,” Lily said with a disdainful look. She didn’t like the way Arthur was looking at her; he was too arrogant for his own good.
“Y-You B—!” Arthur gritted his teeth in frustration. How dare she look down on him like that? This was unforgivable!
“Just you wait, I’ll shut that loud mouth of yours!”
Arthur then stepped forward and tried to pick up the dagger, which looked very light at first glance. He thought it would be easy to pick it up and kill Yuan at the same time.
However, he didn’t know that the dagger wasn’t just any ancient artifact. It wasn’t light at all. The dagger actually weighed more than six thousand kilograms, making it extremely heavy.
Even a powerful warrior can lift up to a thousand kilograms, but more than that is impossible for them to lift. Since Arthur was a mage specializing in Holy Magic, he could only dream of lifting the dagger even an inch from the ground, much less lifting it completely.
‘This is my chance to make him pay… I’ll make him beg for mercy.’ With that thought, Arthur placed his hand on the handle of the dagger and tried to pick it up.
However, something strange and unexpected happened. Arthur couldn’t move the dagger at all, despite using all his strength. He gritted his teeth in frustration as he struggled to move the dagger even a millimeter.
“This is unbelievable… How could something so small be this heavy? This is impossible!” Arthur gritted his teeth, feeling like he was trying to move a massive mountain.
People were also confused, watching Arthur struggle to pick up the dagger thrown by Yuan. It seemed the dagger was too heavy for the Holy Son to lift.
“Hey, what’s going on? Can anyone explain it to me?”
“It appears that the Holy Son is struggling to pick up the dagger, which does not make any sense at all.”
“Just how weak is the Holy Son of such a great empire? He can’t even lift a dagger, hahaha!”
“This is the most hilarious thing I’ve ever seen in my life, so funny!”
People began to laugh at Arthur for not being able to lift Yuan’s dagger from the ground.
