Chapter 457 A Very Concerning Situation

Chapter 457 A Very Concerning Situation

“Thank you for letting me join such a delicious meal. I’ve never eaten something so delicious before.” After finishing her breakfast, Archmage Isadora thanked Anna for letting her join.

Previously, she didn’t have a good opinion of Yuan and his wives as they preferred to stay away from others and didn’t engage in conversations. But now, after spending a few minutes with them, her opinion has changed.

‘They are quite sweet and friendly… they’re way different from what others think about them,’ she thought inwardly with a small smile.

After chatting with Yuan and his wives for a moment, Archmage Isadora suddenly stood up and said, “I should get going now. King Richard and Crown Prince Daniel are waiting for me. I also need to supervise the people in the infirmary, or they will do something stupid.”

“Sure. And you’re free to join us for evening tea if you have time,” Anna nodded with a smile and said.

“Sure, I’ll try to make some free time to chat with you guys again.” Archmage Isadora nodded with a smile and headed toward where King Richard and Daniel were waiting for her return.

“She is quite open and wise compared to that old man,” Yuan muttered, looking at Isadora’s vanishing figure.

“You’re right. She is very wise and also very kind, unlike that old geezer Eldrick,” Anna nodded with a smile and said with a disdainful tone in her voice.

“That’s right. That old goat is quite cunning and vicious,” Grace added, her voice sounding colder than usual, which made Yuan raise his brows.

“Is that so?” Yuan appeared surprised upon hearing this. He then looked at his mothers. “It seems that you two know him very well. Is it from when you were part of the ‘Blank Clan’?”

“Oh, you catch on quickly, my darling, fufufu~” Anna giggled softly and nodded. “That’s right. In the past, when I was young, Archmage Eldrick was called by the patriarch of the renowned Clan Blank to a banquet.”

“In that banquet, many prominent figures of the continent participated, making it one of the grandest banquets in a hundred years,” Grace spoke with a cold look on her face as if she hated the Blank Clan to the core.

“I see… Well, I also don’t like that old fellow. To me, he appears to be a great bootlicker. Didn’t you see how he was praising that idiotic Holy Son a few days ago?” Yuan responded nonchalantly, clearly disliking Eldrick’s behavior toward them.

“Roar!”

Suddenly, a powerful howling of monsters resounded in the distance, making the ground vibrate from the sheer force.

As soon as everyone heard the monster’s roar, people began to panic as many of them were not in a condition to fight, and most were still being treated by the medics.

“W-What kind of monster could have such a powerful and creepy howl?”

“Don’t tell me we’re being attacked by another horde of powerful monsters… we’re in no condition to fight!”

“Oh dear lord, please save us from this dangerous situation and protect us with your divine blessing.”

King Richard and the others also came out of their tents upon hearing the commotion caused by the monsters. Seeing them rushing toward the center of the camp made people feel relieved.

“What’s going on here? Can anyone fill us in on the situation?” King Richard quickly asked, looking at the panicked people. He was also worried about the safety of the injured being treated inside the infirmary.

“Your Majesty, we suddenly heard a monster’s howl from the distance, followed by a powerful earthquake! Everyone is very panicked right now!” One of the experienced hunters stepped forward and gave a brief explanation of the situation to the king.

“I see… I understand the situation now. Leave everything to us,” King Richard responded with a soft smile, though underneath that smile he hid his worries and concerns for his people.

He didn’t know what kind of monsters they were dealing with; they had only heard the howling and felt the earthquake. Confronting such a monster without any prior knowledge would be quite disadvantageous.

Moreover, they had yet to ascertain the exact number of monsters, as they hadn’t shown themselves yet and seemed quite far from the camp.

Archmage Eldrick turned to King Richard with a concerned and panicked look on his face, his forehead covered in sweat.

“Your Majesty, what should we do now? How are we supposed to deal with a situation like this?” he asked, his panic evident in his voice.

Archmage Isadora’s face twisted in annoyance upon hearing this. She never expected Archmage Eldrick to be so spineless.

“Senior Eldrick, this is not a situation where we should be panicking. We should calmly handle it and send scouts to see what’s actually going on before making any serious decisions,” Archmage Isadora spoke in a stern voice, with a smile on her face.

Crown Prince Daniel nodded. “Miss Isadora is right. We shouldn’t make any rash decisions and send our men to their deaths.”

“I agree,” King Richard nodded with a serious look. “First, we will send a small group of experienced scouts to investigate. We can’t afford to lose anyone unnecessarily.”

“That’s the best choice. A large group would easily attract the monsters; the fewer we send, the better,” Daniel nodded, sharing the same opinion as the king.

“Do as you wish. I have nothing to say about this matter,” Archmage Eldrick grumbled and left the area, his expression ugly as if he had suffered a humiliation.

A few minutes later, King Richard gathered a few very experienced hunters who specialized in scouting and sent them to investigate what kind of monsters were causing such a commotion and to make a report on it.

“Understood, Your Majesty. Rest assured we will complete our mission and return safely,” the captain of the scout team responded politely before leaving the camp quickly with his team members.

“Now we only need to wait for their return,” King Richard muttered with a complicated look on his face. He was very concerned about the lives of the scouts he had sent.

“Don’t worry, King Richard, they’re very experienced in their job. Nothing will happen to them,” Archmage Isadora reassured him with a gentle smile, making him feel a little relieved.

“Yuan, those monsters… It seems that they’re spiritual beasts and they appear to be quite strong too,” Lily muttered in a dazed voice as she observed the beasts with her divine sense.

She could feel powerful spiritual energy emitting from the monsters’ bodies, and they had a unique appearance compared to the magical monsters. Lily was surprised by their appearance.

“Indeed. Those two are quite powerful beasts. However, we don’t need to worry about the scouts getting attacked by those beasts, as they are very far from this area and it would take them a day to reach here,” Yuan calmly replied upon noticing the worried look on his wives’ faces.

“I see…” Valeria released a sigh of relief upon hearing this. Then her eyes suddenly sparkled as she looked at Yuan. “Since everything is under control, how about we adventure a bit in this uncharted land? It will be enjoyable and also an adventure, don’t you think so too?”

“I never thought you’d like adventuring, Valeria. This side of you is quite new to me.” Yuan smiled before nodding his head. “Fine, let’s look around the camp for a bit. Perhaps there is a chance that we may encounter something valuable.”

“Well, what are we waiting for then? Let’s go already,” Lily exclaimed happily, her eyes sparkling with excitement at the prospect of walking through the forest.

“Do you really think it’s a good idea to wander around?” Mireya asked, a bit scared since she knew powerful monsters were roaming freely outside the camp area.

The camp was safe due to the monster-repelling devices set up by the king around the camp area. These devices created a protective barrier and produced special sounds that kept the monsters away.

A few minutes later, they headed toward the river, where they saw an open area with a large cliff from which they could view the forest from a high vantage point.

This gave them a beautiful view of the forest and a better understanding of where they were staying. Although Yuan and some of his wives had divine sense and could see their location more clearly, they still decided to climb the cliff to enjoy the beautiful horizon.

As they left the safety area of the camp, they heard Archmage Isadora’s voice from behind.

“Miss Anna and everyone else, where are you heading? It’s quite dangerous outside!”

Yuan and his wives quickly turned around, and Anna replied with a smile, “Don’t worry, Miss Isadora. There isn’t a single powerful monster nearby, not the kind that could harm us anyway. But I can’t say the same for you guys.”

“Huh?” Isadora was taken aback by Anna’s reply. She was confused by what Anna had just said. No monster nearby that can harm them? Are they really that strong?

‘What am I even concerned about? They fought and defeated the corrupted creatures like they were a bunch of helpless chickens at a slaughterhouse… a few monsters are nothing to them,’ Isadora sighed inwardly.

“By the way, where are you heading?” Isadora asked with a curious look in her eyes, wondering where they were going in such a dangerous situation.

Anna chuckled in response. “Oh, it’s nothing, we just want to take a look around. Who knows? We might encounter a good opportunity in the woods,” she said, a beautiful smile gracing her face.
