My Celestial Ascension

Chapter 1015: There Is No Body?!

At sea, the naval forces noticed unusual radar readings, and everyone immediately became alert upon detecting an unknown object traveling at high speed.

"Commander! Our radar just picked up an unknown flying object heading our way, 500 meters above sea level, at Mach 2!"

The commander immediately jumped from his seat, his expression turning serious.

"Declare a full emergency! I want every team to keep a close eye on the target. Also, prepare two jets to intercept it!" The commander issued the order before heading straight for the command center.

The intelligence team constantly monitored the fast-moving target while the hypersonic missiles were aimed at it.

"Sir! We’ve noticed something very peculiar about the target!" one of the officers shouted, disbelief evident on his face.

His eyes were glued to the computer screen, which displayed live footage of the fast-moving target.

Everyone turned their attention to the screen and noticed that the thermal imaging camera wasn’t detecting any significant heat from the target, which was impossible.

Any fast-moving vehicle or missile would produce a high-temperature thermal reading, including drones that use combustion engines for propulsion.

However, the target on the screen wasn’t showing any unusual thermal signature. Instead, it displayed a reading similar to a human’s body heat.

"Just what is that thing? I’ve never seen anything like this before... Is it some kind of newly developed advanced stealth technology?" the commander mumbled in disbelief.

Meanwhile, two fighter jets were ready to take off from the deck, their engines roaring as flames escaped from the nozzles.

"Viper One to Tower. Ready for launch."

"Viper Two to Tower. Ready for launch!"

The carrier’s control tower immediately responded without delay.

"Viper One, Viper Two, Tower. Stand by."

The deck crew immediately began working, clearing the area around the first catapult.

"Viper One, cleared for launch."

"Viper One, cleared."

The first fighter surged forward with its afterburner engaged to maximize thrust. The catapult hurled it down the deck, and a moment later, it disappeared into the sky.

"Viper One, airborne."

"Viper One, radar contact established. Proceed to holding point Alpha."

Shortly afterward, the second fighter rolled into position.

"Viper Two, cleared for launch."

"Viper Two, cleared."

Its engine screamed as it accelerated down the deck and launched into the sky.

"Viper Two, airborne."

"Viper Two, radar contact established. Proceed to holding point Alpha," the control tower responded over the radio.

"Viper Two, roger."

Meanwhile, Yuan flew through the air at Mach 2, and his Divine Sense immediately picked up the two incoming fighter jets.

"I almost forgot that the military has powerful radar capable of detecting fast-moving objects from hundreds of kilometers away," Yuan muttered, realizing that he had exposed himself to their radar.

"I should have been more careful about the military... Well, it’s not too late to hide my presence." Yuan sighed softly and covered his body with a layer of Qi before increasing his speed.

He flew higher into the sky to avoid a confrontation with the fighter jets. He didn’t want the military to see him flying, which would definitely give him a lot of headaches later on.

Inside the cockpit, the pilots noticed that their radar had stopped detecting the target. It was as though the target had disappeared into thin air.

"Viper One to Command. Target has disappeared from radar," the pilot informed the command tower over the radio.

However, the two jets didn’t abandon the mission. They continued their search, looking for any sign that could lead them to the target.

Meanwhile, Yuan hovered above the clouds, concealing his presence from the radar. With his Divine Sense, he could clearly see everything below.

"That takes care of that. I should be able to reach my destination within half an hour." He smiled and flew toward the city where he had lived in his past life.

Furthermore, he needed to figure out how much time had passed since he died in this world to determine the difference in time between this world and the other world.

A short while later, Yuan stopped flying and hovered above a large city. The city felt familiar to him, especially the buildings.

"This is it. This is definitely Metro City! I’m finally back in the city where I used to live!" Yuan began celebrating his return in the air, unable to contain his excitement any longer.

Whoosh! Just then, a massive commercial plane passed very close to him, giving him a sudden shock and causing him to lose control of his flying sword.

He immediately began descending rapidly toward the ground, but he quickly channeled his Qi and levitated in the air.

As a Spirit King, he could easily fly without any support, and it was as natural to him as breathing.

He stored the flying sword inside his System Storage and sighed in relief.

"Well, that surprised me... I need to be more careful about my surroundings in the future."

He then headed toward the edge of the city, where there wasn’t much development compared to the heart of the city.

In his past life, he wasn’t rich, so he could only afford a cheap apartment with the money he earned from doing part-time jobs.

However, it was his own apartment and not a rented one. Aside from paying the water and electricity bills, he didn’t have to worry about rent at all, which relieved him of a huge burden.

Standing in front of the building where he once lived filled him with a sense of nostalgia.

"I never thought I’d ever see this place again after my death... but here I am, standing in front of it once again." He muttered to himself with a dazed look on his face.

He walked forward and entered the building before anyone else could notice him. Since he was still wearing the clothes from the other world, he would immediately stand out.

He could hear the faint sound of a television broadcasting news about Mount Kailash, reporting on the sudden earthquake that had shaken the entire mountain.

"Good thing I left that place immediately. Otherwise, I’d be on the news flying through the sky." He chuckled softly as he walked toward his apartment.

On the staircase, he encountered someone—a mature woman wearing a party dress, dark lipstick, straight hair, and a pair of black sunglasses.

"What a handsome fellow. I don’t think I’ve seen you here before." The woman said with a small grin on her face.

"Hello. I used to live here. I just returned from abroad." Yuan replied with a smile.

"Is that so... How about accompanying me to a cocktail party, handsome? We’ll get to know each other better."

"Unfortunately, I’m very tired from the journey. Maybe some other day." Yuan politely declined.

"A fair point. Let’s meet another time, then." The woman replied, a slight disappointment evident in her voice. "You’ve got a nice outfit, by the way."

"Thanks. By the way, can you tell me what day it is and what year?"

"You seem to have a problem with your brain. Fine, it’s August 28th, 2025." The woman said and left the scene while muttering something.

"Young men these days... They forget things so easily."

Meanwhile, Yuan was stunned by how much time had passed on Earth after his death.

"Two whole years have passed since I died in this world... I hope my apartment is safe and no one sold it to someone else." Yuan hurried toward his apartment, his heart beating faster than normal.

He stood before an apartment—Apartment Number 34, the same apartment where he had once lived and worked so hard to buy.

"The door seems like it hasn’t been unlocked for years... This is actually a good thing." He muttered and quickly used his Divine Sense to see through the door.

"I just need to unlock the door from the inside." He immediately used his Qi Manifestation to unlock the door from the inside.

Click! A clicking sound resounded as the door unlocked. With a twist of the handle, he opened the door.

’This feels so weird... I’m about to step inside and see my own rotten skeleton!’ He screamed inwardly, his heart pounding in his chest.

Mustering some courage, Yuan stepped inside the apartment. Everything was in the same position as when he died; nothing had been moved from its place.

A layer of dust covered everything, suggesting that no one had ever entered the place after his death.

He walked toward the bedroom, whose door was slightly open. When he looked inside, he found nothing on the bed.

There wasn’t a rotten skeleton or even a stain of blood. It was as though his body had ceased to exist after his death, leaving nothing behind.

"H-How was that even possible?! Wasn’t I sick and dying here?! On this very bed?! How come my body isn’t here?!" He exclaimed in disbelief.

He immediately extended his Divine Sense and searched every corner of the apartment for his dead body. Unfortunately, he didn’t find it anywhere. Not even a trace of blood remained.

Yuan sat on the bed and sighed heavily.

"What happened after my death? Why isn’t the body here? Did someone find it and bury it?" A lot of thoughts appeared in his mind, puzzling him greatly about the situation.

"That’s impossible, since I found no clue of someone entering this place."

"Well, anyway, since no one has found my body, that means my identity is safe. I can safely use my old identity without any problem."

"The only problem is that my face has changed a lot... I hope no one becomes suspicious of me." He muttered in a low voice.

Compared to his past life, his appearance had changed considerably. His current appearance was far too charming and handsome compared to the scrawny look he had in his past life.
