My Arts Evolve When Perfected

Chapter 399 - 379: Extreme Mutation Liu Zili, Shangguan Yue’s Miserable State

The Primordial World Cluster was boundless. Countless world-spaces were scattered throughout the void, each floating world like a single grain of sand. Among them, the colossal Eight-Direction Reversing Ship completed a journey through the void, landing in a small world teeming with the aura of life.

For a super-massive warship like this, capable of traversing the void, the energy consumption was immense—even more dreadful than that of cross-dimensional teleportation arrays.

After all, arrays were often rooted in the Laws of a world, drawing upon its abundant resource base. Their activation was a one-time event that required little maintenance, so the cost was naturally not that high.

The Eight-Direction Reversing Ship, however, was different. Its size was nearly comparable to Blue Star, and it carried over a million living beings. Each activation of its space-time travel function was a huge drain on resources. Its reserves were simply insufficient; it had to replenish them in a timely manner.

This was precisely why the Eight-Direction Reversing Ship had been slow to return to the Nine Venerable Great Realm. The absurdly vast distance from the remote, previously undeveloped Blue Star to one of the most powerful great realms was separated by countless smaller worlds.

The journey was comparable to the long ocean voyages of Blue Star’s sixteenth century; returning home was impossible without an expedition that lasted for years.

Now, they had only completed half the journey, with still a long way to go. Replenishing their needed resources was the highest priority.

With this in mind, Zuo Xuan ordered the logistics team to construct palaces and prepare to set up a base in this desolate little world.

For a fleet of this size, constructing a temporary palace was a simple task; this wasn’t about building a fortress for world-scale warfare.

The process of replenishing resources was a long one, and it would take at least several months to gather enough. The more desolate the landing site, the longer the preparation time required.

He would be stationed in this small world for quite some time.

The slaves held within the warship would also be temporarily brought out and housed in specially constructed dungeons, so they wouldn’t have to worry about them continuing to drain the ship’s energy.

"Why isn’t this one awake yet?"

A member of the Emperor Blue Lizard Clan frowned, carrying a nutrient pod out of the Eight-Direction Reversing Ship with another of his kind. The world’s sunlight fell upon their faces, revealing a wealth of wrinkles.

The light also glinted off the pod’s glass surface, giving it a mysterious glow.

In reality, it bore a slave marking. The inhabitant wasn’t some injured kinsman of the Emperor Blue Lizard Clan, but a slave who had failed to awaken for a long time.

Generally, a slave would not be qualified for a life-saving nutrient pod like this unless they possessed sufficient value. This meant either being of a high realm, which would itself fetch a good price, or having awakened a special talent of extremely high potential.

The Eight-Direction Reversing Ship plundered races with talent precisely to find gifted individuals to sell for a high price.

In truth, there was no direct way to determine if a person possessed astounding talent, and oversights occasionally happened.

"I don’t know, but I heard from the higher-ups that the girl inside was found to have an extremely rare, mutated bloodline with a very mysterious origin," the other Emperor Blue Lizard Person replied. "From the description, they estimate her value is comparable to that of a Fusion Realm slave."

In this world, a value comparable to the Fusion Realm was already extraordinarily expensive. It could be considered a priceless treasure whose potential was limitless, but which had been assigned a price for special reasons.

The mark on this one indicated she was merely in the Spirit Body Realm, a cub who had just begun formal cultivation. Yet, Lord Zuo Xuan had personally approved the use of a nutrient pod to keep her alive—a decision that was simply astonishing.

No one was willing to waste resources on trash. Nutrient pods were also a rare resource, and the materials used daily to sustain the slave inside were quite expensive, all to keep her alive.

It was said that the person inside had been on the verge of breathing her last. Fortunately, after being brought aboard, Venerable Zuo Xuan had casually resolved the source of her ailment.

The strange thing was, no major illness could be detected in her body now, yet she simply wouldn’t wake up...

*Thud.* The nutrient pod was placed in the temporarily constructed dungeon. The two Emperor Blue Lizard clansmen made some final adjustments, connected the nutrient tubes, then closed the door and left.

This was a privately constructed cell. There were no outsiders and no clamor—only silence. The nutrient pod stood there, solitary.

The line of sight passed through the translucent glass, revealing strange patterns, clear nutrient fluid, and the graceful body of a young girl.

Her shoulder-length black hair fanned out in the liquid, drifting like a black jellyfish. Strange, purplish-black markings traced their way across her snow-white body, adding a perfectly balanced touch of mature, cold allure.

The girl’s toes were like translucent pearls, with delicate pink nails covering them. The gaze traveled up from her delicate little feet, where occasional purple-black markings could be seen. They looked like the marks of a spider, yet also resembled violet-black dragon-runes.

Her body was exceptionally clean. Her skin was milky white, her nipples cherry-pink. Her slender fingers were like pale roots floating in the water. Her cheeks were pale, her lips tinged with red, and her eyelashes were upturned. From her delicate nose, however, there was no rhythm of breath.
