My Arts Evolve When Perfected
Chapter 385 - 372: Soul Race Genius, A Formidable Opponent, Battle of Tribulation
Jiang Qiu’s opponent was a peerless prodigy from the Soul Race. His strength was incredible; after all, he once held a winning streak of over forty matches. He was, without a doubt, the individual with the highest potential in the entire Celestial Star Arena.
To this day, he had achieved his winning streak by instantly killing his opponents. He never gave them any room to breathe—it was the exact same script as Jiang Qiu’s own rise.
Furthermore, his own power was at the Peak of the Fusion Realm, so it was only natural that those he instantly defeated were all Fusion Realm experts, without a single exception.
However, he wasn’t particularly bloodthirsty. Eventually, the Fusion Realm opponents matched against him began to surrender preemptively, too afraid of his power to even dare test it.
The man’s record was truly astonishing. As it stood, no one in the Celestial Star Arena could suppress him except for those above the Fusion Realm; everyone else was utterly terrified of him.
That was why his winning streak had stalled. So many people knew it was impossible to defeat him that he was stuck in the forties, unable to push for a fiftieth victory.
Unless another renowned genius managed to reach a forty-plus-win streak to challenge him, he would remain stuck. This, in other words, was a very long waiting game.
Often, winning streaks like this weren’t broken due to a lack of strength, but because the wait became too long and the person gave up. This opponent, however, was more than willing to wait.
He had held his ground here for over a century, unrivaled. Because he had yet to be matched against an opponent from the Harmonization Realm, he remained undefeated.
His name was Soul. True to his name, his abilities were deeply connected to the spiritual plane. The primary reason he could instantly kill his enemies was that his techniques directly attacked the soul.
His fights weren’t spectacular to watch—just an instant, and the kill was made. But this didn’t affect Soul’s fame in the slightest; in fact, it was what he was famous for.
His abilities were perhaps similar to those of a challenger named Ah Gui, whom Jiang Qiu had previously defeated in an instant. The crucial difference, however, was that he came from the Soul Race.
The Soul Race was a people with extraordinary spiritual Talent, arguably one of the most unique races in the entire Great World Community.
They were born as Soul Bodies. Their physical forms and Soul Bodies were one and the same, allowing them to freely switch between the corporeal and the ethereal, between being and nothingness.
When they chose to attack, they would manifest a tangible, physical form to strike their enemy, but every blow would land directly on the soul, making their attacks impossible to guard against.
If someone let their guard down for even a moment and took a single punch, their entire soul would shatter. This was the truly terrifying nature of the Soul Race.
Every one of their attacks inflicted immense damage to the soul, possessing extreme penetrating power. Without highly specialized spiritual defenses, their attacks were simply unstoppable. This was the reason he had been able to maintain his winning streak and inspire fear in all who faced him.
Even peerless prodigies from other races that also possessed some spiritual Talent were still no match for them.
After all, the inherent differences in Talent between races were vast, and the Soul Race was undoubtedly the most blessed when it came to the spiritual plane. Their Talent was simply unrivaled.
And Soul, of course, benefited greatly from this heritage. When Zhu Weiyi learned that this was Jiang Qiu’s opponent, he completely lost his composure. He was afraid Jiang Qiu would lose.
After all, not only was the man at the Peak of the Fusion Realm, but the suppression from that level was a very real factor—a difference of four entire High Realms.
’With such a massive gap, to say nothing of the disparity in spiritual power, Jiang Qiu has almost no chance of winning.’
Based on recordings of his previous matches, Jiang Qiu had always used attacks that weren’t spiritual in nature. Though he also killed his enemies in an instant, he relied on physical methods.
Physical methods were completely ineffective against the Soul Race. When facing an attack, their seemingly solid bodies would shift into a spiritual form, allowing the attack to pass harmlessly through them.
Therefore, one had to use spiritual attacks to fight them. But Zhu Weiyi knew full well, ’Where would the Human Race even find techniques to attack the soul?’
’Even if such methods existed, they would require long, arduous practice. A Secret Technique for a weapon, for example, takes a great deal of time to learn, and even longer to master to a high degree.’
’But compared to the Soul Race, born with their extremely powerful spiritual Talent, the gap was simply too vast.’
Zhu Weiyi didn’t believe Jiang Qiu could possibly match the Soul Race on a spiritual level. The disparity was terrifying, almost to the point of being hopeless.
His heart clenched with anxiety. ’What if Jiang Qiu loses?’
’Will his soul be damaged?’
’If he gets hurt, it would be a blow to Blue Star’s hopes. I don’t want to see Jiang Qiu injured, and I especially don’t want him to get hurt because of me.’
Injuries to the soul often came at a great cost. Recovery required extremely complex methods, which meant that if Jiang Qiu were injured, he would need a very long time to recuperate.
This would undoubtedly hinder his growth, meaning he would have to waste precious time on recovery.
