My Arts Evolve When Perfected
Chapter 264 - 263: A Fight to the Death
HUMMM—
The most domineering Dragon’s Roar howled between heaven and earth. The dark clouds that had gathered in the sky unleashed a heavy downpour, and a blinding blaze of Flame erupted in the dim light, painting a scene like a sunset.
The fiery dragon shadow from Jiang Qiu’s Chuyuan spear, infused with his Dragon Roar Spear Intent, instantly shattered Demon General [Jie]’s defenses. It pierced through him like a metal skewer through roasted meat, and the gushing Flame melted and devoured him.
In that instant, a dead silence fell. The countless members of the Kunlun Demon Clan stared, dumbfounded, watching in disbelief as their leader was killed in a single blow.
Even the Martial Artists and Non-commissioned Officers from the Tianjiao Base were stunned. They clenched their fists, their blood boiling, as an unprecedented conviction in victory blazed within them. "That move... it looks like the Furious Dragon Ascending to Heaven that Jiang Qiu left behind! Such a domineering attack—it’s even more powerful than the footage in the Virtual Training Pod?!"
Most of them had personally gone to the Virtual Training Pods to study Furious Dragon Ascending to Heaven. Some went just to see what it was like, as a Spear Skill of such difficulty was truly not something an ordinary person could learn. To this day, very few had even grasped the basics.
But they never expected that a powerhouse, suspected to be above the Grandmaster level, would now use it. And with this single move, he had slain the notoriously vicious [Jie], igniting a beacon of hope for everyone!
Just then, the Ice Armor on Jiang Qiu’s body melted away at his will. His sturdy figure was revealed, his short hair fluttering. His eyes were like a boundless sea of stars, his Dragon Eye fully visible.
"It’s really Jiang Qiu?!"
At that moment, everyone was dumbfounded. Almost no one had dared to even consider the possibility. After all, a Grandmaster of his age would have broken the record for the youngest in history!
Jiang Qiu wasn’t even twenty years old yet!
The last news about him had been three months ago. At that time, he had represented Xia Country alongside Tang Guang, the number one Sword Dao prodigy from Jiangnan, on a trip to the Northern Wilderness Great Secret Realm. He had only just broken through to the Dharma Realm not long before that.
How could he have broken through directly to the Grandmaster Realm in just three months!?
And he could instantly kill a top-tier Demon General like [Jie]!
"He’s already a Grandmaster?"
General Mo couldn’t help but murmur, staring at the somewhat familiar young face in the sky. His deep eyes sparkled with starlike highlights.
He had foreseen that the boy would have a great future, but he never imagined his own vision had been too narrow. ’If only I could have provided him with more help back then,’ he thought. ’The rise of a prodigy like him brings nothing but benefits to the Northwest Province and even all of Xia Country.’
The hidden dragon has emerged from the abyss...
As the thought passed, earth-shattering battle cries erupted from all directions. The Martial Artists and Non-commissioned Officers of the Tianjiao Base reversed their decline, roaring themselves hoarse as they charged toward the more numerous Kunlun Demon Clan. The tide of battle began to turn.
Meanwhile, in the evacuating convoy, many students vaguely witnessed the battle. They were too far away to see clearly, but they knew that a powerhouse with a giant dragon Dharma Aspect had instantly slain [Jie], the Demon General who had been wreaking havoc on the area.
"Holy shit, so strong! Which general is that? Or is it a big shot from Northwest Martial University?"
"That’s so fucking cool! I knew practicing the spear was the best!"
"And he used Furious Dragon Ascending to Heaven, the move Jiang Divine created! Fucking awesome—"
The students chattered excitedly. The high schoolers who had been crying in fear from the desperate atmosphere wiped the tears from their eyes, which now shone like stars.
Most of the teachers at the Spirit Body Realm couldn’t see the face of the ice-armored powerhouse either, but they felt a strange sense of familiarity.
It wasn’t until the Ice Armor melted and the young man’s face was revealed that Zhao Gongzheng’s heart leaped into his throat. Through his scratched-up glasses, he saw a young sapling that had grown into a towering tree.
"Jiang Qiu..."
A soft whisper escaped his lips, a sense of immense pride swelling in his chest. He recalled the image of Jiang Qiu from a year ago, when he had departed for Northwest Martial University in a blaze of glory and begun to make a name for himself.
Though time had passed, he returned, still a young man.
"Ah!"
Suddenly, a cry of surprise broke his train of thought. He turned to see a boy with his head practically glued to a pair of binoculars, shouting excitedly, "Holy shit, he turned around! He looks so damn much like the Jiang Divine statue at our school!"
"It couldn’t be Jiang Divine himself, could it?"
"Holy shit! Holy shit! For real?! That’s my idol!"
"Fucking awesome—"
The atmosphere instantly erupted. Even the nearby residents who weren’t from Outer City Ninth Middle School grew excited, and the entire evacuating convoy gradually became feverish with excitement.
It was Jiang Divine who saved everyone!
While they were screaming and shouting, Jiang Qiu didn’t rest. After finishing off Demon General [Jie], he quickly turned his attention to the various Ancestral Great Demons. The Great Demons he stared at shivered, and soon their bodies were in disarray, falling apart.
With Jiang Qiu joining the battlefield, the situation was instantly reversed. It was like chopping melons and slicing vegetables.
The unit of the Kunlun Demon Clan led by [Jie] instantly broke and fled. Even the Demon Marshal, [Mountain King], who was fighting Grandmaster Qian, led his entire army in a retreat, ceasing his attack.
Of course, the main reason was that all the powerhouses from the Hundred Machines Giant Kite had come down to provide support. [Mountain King] was fighting two against one and was starting to tire, forcing him to retreat.
"Junior Brother Jiang, is it handled on your end?"
The voice of his second senior brother, Zhao Qian, came through the communicator in his ear. Jiang Qiu took a deep breath and put away his Chuyuan spear. "Mostly. Only a few dozen Great Demons escaped."
"Good. Don’t leave your post. Be cautious and escort the convoy of Outer City residents into the Inner City. The entire Outer City of Gao Yuan City has fallen. Only the Inner City still has adequate defensive capabilities."
Listening to Zhao Qian’s words, Jiang Qiu took another deep breath. He was in Yukong, a thousand meters above, looking down at the vast expanse of Gao Yuan City’s Outer City. It looked like a pile of crushed building models, and the torn-up ground was a pockmarked blackboard on which anyone could have scrawled a line.
The Outer City had once again suffered a devastating breach, one even more brutal than the one he remembered. The battle had already reached the very edge of the Inner City. Even in this sector, they had only achieved a temporary victory.
[Mountain King] hadn’t fled back to Kunlun Mountain or Kunlun City. He was most likely lying low on the outskirts, trying to gather more Great Demons for the fight. Perhaps next time, another Demon Marshal would appear here.
Realizing this, a cold killing intent shone in Jiang Qiu’s eyes. "[Chen]," he muttered, "it seems this is a fight to the death."
...
After learning that Jiang Qiu had succeeded in his Dragon Body Casting, the Demon Marshals under [Chen]’s command had already led their pre-arranged army to besiege Gao Yuan City, followed by the breach and massacre of the city.
Perhaps the difficulty of massacring the city this time would be much greater than it was for Tianshan City. After all, the Human Race in the Northwest Province had reacted, already stationing Luo Beixing and numerous Grandmaster-level powerhouses.
But in reality, it would take the full might of the entire Northwest Province to contend with the full military force of the Kunlun Demon Clan. How could the current number of people in Gao Yuan City possibly be enough?
[Chen] wasn’t worried about setbacks. The worst-case scenario was merely having to wait a little longer.
But now, a Demon General named [Jie] had transmitted a piece of information before his death: Jiang Qiu had appeared in Gao Yuan City...
