Chapter 2401: Chapter 2231: Memories from the Diary_6

"Dad, considering he’s just recovered from a serious illness, don’t blame him anymore. If there’s anything to say, tell me quickly, I can accept any punishment."

Old Master Zhang truly doesn’t understand what is happening today.

Why do so many people come running back to confess their wrongs to him, and after admitting their faults, why do they force him to agree to these unequal terms? Did he truly do something wrong? Is threatening him again and again meaningful? All he wants is to hear some peace and stability, why do they never seem willing to give him such a life?

"What exactly do you two want? I just want to happily welcome you back, but why must you say these things to me, reminding me of past events? Do you not know what kind of impact those past things have on me? I simply can’t forget how you left, or what you said when you left. Now you regret it, where is that arrogance and confidence you had in what you said and did back then? Are you willing to abandon your previous pride and admit to your family that you made mistakes?"

"Dad, we truly know we were wrong. Now, we just want to stay by your side and accompany you, that’s enough. We are not the kind of people who are insatiably greedy. If we can come back, and if you really don’t want us to return to this home, we won’t come back. But at least allow us to come home often to accompany you, let us contribute to this family. We don’t want to live like we did before, aimlessly and uselessly. We want to live for our family and for our career. Abandoning you was a mistake that perhaps can’t be corrected in this lifetime; we should have spent those years with you, but we now know regret and choose to come back. At your age, having us accompany you is good, isn’t it? Why refuse us?"

Old Master Zhang now truly doesn’t want to say anything more. Why must all the faults forcibly fall upon him again and again? Was he born to carry the blame? Over the years, he’s carried so much blame. Everyone believes he drove his son and daughter-in-law out of the house, but who truly knows the real circumstances of what happened? Who saw with their own eyes the heartless words his son and daughter-in-law said when they first left the house?

He’s a living person, a flesh-and-blood human being, repeatedly hurt by others, yet why choose to forgive them again and again without any boundaries? What can repeated forgiveness actually bring him? In their hearts, do they not feel that they keep opposing him repeatedly? Is this really the life he wants? No, this is absolutely not the life he desires.

"I haven’t said I won’t forgive you; I just want you to know that the person you wronged most in your life isn’t me, but your son. You abandoned him, and you still haven’t realized where you went wrong in abandoning him. What a child most needs is companionship during their childhood. Now you come back, do you feel there’s any use? His childhood has passed; he has no way to return to it, no way to grow up from childhood again with you by his side. Over the years, the loneliest person isn’t me; it’s him. The most hard-working person isn’t me; it’s them. The one who has been wronged the most, even less so, isn’t me; it is your child!

Up until now, you haven’t figured out who you truly owe or who you truly wronged. You just arrogantly believe that everything you do is right, but is what you’ve done truly right?

If what you did was right, then why has no one dared to come back to this house? Do you have the courage to boldly come back to this home even once? Each time during holidays and festivals, we look to see if you would return with shame, have you returned?"
