Chapter 807: Chapter 793: The Mushroom Lord Outsmarts the Enemy Army

"The rune won’t hold! Quick, retreat!"

The Blood Beast struck the western city wall of Mushroom City once more, and the last remaining runes sputtered briefly before extinguishing completely.

Without the support of the runes, the wall’s bricks suddenly shifted and crumbled.

Boom—!

An entire section of the city wall collapsed inward, with rubble and dust cascading like a waterfall, engulfing the Puki that hadn’t had time to retreat.

The scarred Blood Beast dissolved into the ground after completing its mission.

In the distance, Darean let out a long breath.

Even though he wasn’t disturbed, destroying this wall single-handedly in just over a day had still drained him significantly.

Fortunately, the rest should be much simpler.

Darean raised his hand, prepared to signal his eager subordinates to charge through the breach, but suddenly halted.

He twitched his ears, somewhat puzzled as he looked toward the breach filled with dust—something was approaching.

The sound grew clearer.

"Ahhhhh—!"

"Kill me, anyone, please kill me!"

"Spare me... boohoo... I’ve repented... please... spare me..."

Amidst the wails of agony, the Puki emerged from the smoke, carrying several Blood Race members tied high upon flagpoles.

Once outside, they lined up neatly on either side, planting the flagpoles beyond the blood curtain Darean had erected.

This scene made the Blood Race, who had just been excited over breaking Mushroom City’s shell, widen their eyes in anger!

"It’s Randall! And Viscount Castor!" Some blood heirs recognized the material of several flags.

"Damn it, how dare they humiliate us like this!"

"Belian, don’t!"

In the sky, a Blood Race member ignored his companions’ attempts to stop him and dove downward.

On the ground, the Puki hurriedly fired Mushroom Cannons at him.

[Blood Manipulation: Blood Shadow]

Belian’s body turned into a pool of blood, deftly reversing direction mid-air, dodging all incoming Mushroom Cannon shots, before shooting down in front of the Puki line.

[Blood Manipulation: Ten Thousand Arrows]

The instant he landed, countless blood arrows fired at the Puki, instantly wiping out swathes of them.

Having succeeded in his surprise attack, Belian didn’t recklessly advance but instead spun around, waving his Blood Blade to rescue two Blood Race members bound to the flags, grabbing them and swiftly dodging the Mushroom Cannon, retreating a hundred meters away.

Back within the blood curtain, shielded from sunlight, the two rescued Blood Race members finally ceased their screams.

"How are you?" Only then did Belian have the chance to ask the rescued Blood Race members.

However, what happened next was unexpected.

"Thank you, thank you!"

A Blood Race member, upon regaining freedom, expressed sincere gratitude repeatedly while facing the shocked gaze of other blood heirs, condensing a Blood Blade to pierce his own heart.

He fell into a pool of blood, and in his last moments, looked at Belian with eyes full of gratitude.

Yet, his gratitude only filled Belian with a sense of dread.

As Belian remained in shock, distant warnings from other blood heirs suddenly reached him: "Belian, watch out!"

A Blood Blade pierced through Belian’s chest from behind, and he turned back with difficulty, only to see the face of another rescued Blood Race member, a mix of fear, excitement, and a hint of apology.

That Blood Race member met Belian’s puzzled and angry gaze, and on his sun-cracked ugly face, a grim smile surfaced: "It’s... It’s not my fault! I had no choice. If I don’t want to die like that guy, I can only do this! You’re too foolish... too foolish."

"Traitor, leave him!" Belian’s friend charged forward, Blood Blade swinging at the traitor.

The latter kicked the heavily injured Belian to the ground, then turned and ran toward the Puki’s ranks.

Leaving the blood curtain’s range, sunlight shone on him again, the scorching sensation coursing through his body, but he didn’t stop.

Finally, he knelt beneath a fluttering crimson cape.

"Mushroom Lord... Great Mushroom Lord... I... I..." Enhanced senses bestowed him with multiplied pain, leaving him speechless.

A tentacle descended in front of him, gently tapping his forehead: "Well done, I grant you transfer to call bell service. You may also have one night off each month."

The Blood Race member kowtowed vigorously: "Thank you... Mushroom Lord for your mercy... mercy!"

"But you must still finish this task."

Saying this, several Puki tied him back onto the flagpole, and he didn’t resist at all, joining the other Blood Race members beside him in carrying out his duty to scream.

"Devil!"

The Blood Race member who had just rescued Belian witnessed this absurd scene, shocked and furious, yet dared not approach.

He pulled Belian, intending to retreat, but suddenly heard Belian’s weak warning.

"Run..."

"I know, I’ll take you back."

"Leave me, run!"

"Why? I can take you back completely..."

Ssh—

A blood blade extending from Belian’s palm pierced the friend’s arm.

"Why?"

"I... can’t control... myself!" Blood tears flowed from Belian’s eyes, and on his body, mushrooms bloomed one after another, soon covering everything except his head.

Belian’s body launched another attack, and meanwhile, the Puki below the wall approached.

In desperation, Belian’s friend had to gather Blood Martial, striking back with an ordinary slashing motion.

An ordinary horizontal slash, yet Belian’s body offered no resistance, even cooperating to adjust his position.

Belian’s hands and head were severed, rolled twice, finally glancing at his friend before losing their luster.

"Ah... ah..." Realizing he had just killed his friend with his own hands, the Blood Race member shook his head, collapsed on the ground, unresponsive even as the Puki gradually approached.

Clap clap clap—

Marshal Puki clapped with its tentacles, and a rag-like voice Puki on the fungal mat emitted a terrifying sound: "Hehehe..."

However, the laughter soon came to an abrupt stop.

Marshal Puki turned around to look at the residents of Mushroom City gazing at it, decisively decomposing the voice Puki, lifting its round belly with mycelium tentacles, and issued a voice of authority and justice:

"The evil Blood Race is so cruel to their own kind!"

"People of Mushroom City, do not be afraid, I, the Great Mushroom Lord, have come to save you!"

"Puki, advance!"

The Puki marched forward in unison, fearless, while a significant turmoil appeared among the Empire Army across the way.

A blood whip pulled back the dazed Blood Race, and Darean looked at his subordinates behind him, whose fighting spirit was waning, and then at the opposite Marshal Puki draped in the crimson cape and Inanna behind it.

Though he was incensed by the Puki’s recent antics, he remained rational.

He knew that nothing favorable could be gained here.

"Withdraw!"

With Darean’s order, the Empire’s army slowly retreated.

Lin Jun didn’t pursue.

The Prince was still somewhat intimidating, and they couldn’t safely overpower the opponent.

If mishandled, the destruction of Mushroom City was minor, but losing the Pink Puki would be troublesome.

On the city wall, a soldier, after repeatedly confirming the Empire Army was no longer visible, suddenly picked up a Puki beside him, tossed it into the air, and shouted excitedly: "The Demon Race has been driven away! Mushroom City is safe!"

This shout of survival immediately resonated throughout the city, prompting cheers from everyone.

In the crowd, Dylan proficiently shouted: "Praise the Mushroom Lord!"

After a brief pause, the surrounding voices followed suit, quickly spreading from beneath the wall to the entire city.

In the midst of city-wide praise, Marshal Puki dragged its plump white belly, facing the sun, raising its mushroom cap at a 45-degree angle.
