Chapter 1776 Poverty Hurts Too Much
Chapter 1776: 1776 Poverty Hurts Too Much
Even though Han Yan had devoted most of her energy to array formations these past few days, she had also dabbled in Alchemy, Alchemy Techniques, and Sealing Techniques, just not with much dedication. After his reminder, she immediately noticed traces of these few Heavenly Destiny Star Plates being reforged. With her powerful divine sense, she easily sensed the formidable defensive aura comparable to Divine Artifacts.
With such strong defenses, even Void Power might not harm the lives of Huayue and the others. Now, what concerned Han Yan was whether they had gone to Little Divine Heaven, had fallen directly onto the Divine Continent like her, or had been transported to some other space? As far as she knew, when the continent split, it wasn’t just the two plates of the Divine Continent and the Holy Court Continent; there were also other tiny scattered fragments.
Of course, saying tiny was only in reference to the Divine Continent and the Holy Court Continent. To ordinary people, they were still vast and boundless. However, it’s unclear whether those fragments could also support survival and cultivation like the Holy Court Continent and Divine Continent. If they were like the Holy Court Continent, it would be fine, but if like the Divine Continent, it might be a bit troublesome.
Worrying for a while, Han Yan realized she was overthinking it. She didn’t even know where they were; wasn’t worrying about such things unnecessary?
"Master Priest, from your words, it seems you know the origin of these magical artifacts?" Wen Gaoren asked curiously.
"If I’m not mistaken, these are most likely the protective magical artifacts belonging to a few of my friends," Han Yan said. She accidentally mentioned the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate earlier; she would not make that mistake again. Although Wen Gaoren’s knowledge was limited, one still couldn’t be careless.
"Master Wen, I have an immodest request. I’d like to purchase these magical artifacts, or exchange them for elixirs and treasures. However, as you can see, the situation of Huayu Temple is not good. We don’t have much silver tael, nor any decent elixirs or treasures, so I can only delay payment for a while." Since they were the Heavenly Destiny Star Plates of Huayue and the others, Han Yan naturally didn’t want them to fall into the hands of outsiders. But being short on cash inevitably made her lack confidence.
Money, money! Thinking of the stacks of silver notes in the Star Disk Space turning into waste paper, if she had known, she would have exchanged them all for solid silver and gold instead.
"Master Priest, there’s no need to be so polite. You just saved us, and I haven’t even had the chance to repay you. These magical artifacts are impossible for me to comprehend, let alone repair or restore. Since they’re the personal magical artifacts of your friends, they should be returned to them." Wen Gaoren spoke as he handed the Heavenly Destiny Star Plates to Han Yan.
"Then I won’t stand on ceremony. I’ll express my thanks to Master Wen later when I have the chance," Han Yan accepted the Heavenly Destiny Star Plates and stored them in the Star Plate.
Probably because cultivation was conducted directly using divine sense, storage spaces were more common on the Divine Continent than on the Holy Court Continent. This way, she wasn’t afraid of arousing suspicion; as a Master Priest, possessing a storage magical artifact wouldn’t surprise anyone.
"Master Wen, in your estimation, where is the most likely place these magical artifacts fell from?" Storing the Heavenly Destiny Star Plates, Han Yan asked again.
"If I were to guess, the highest possibility is Little Divine Heaven," Wen Gaoren replied after thinking for a while. Although the spatial rift appeared for a very brief moment, making it impossible to see clearly what was inside, the array he had set up was initially intended to open a shortcut to Little Divine Heaven, making this the most likely possibility.
"Master Priest, are you planning to look for a few friends?" Wen Gaoren asked.
Han Yan nodded. Although Wen Gaoren couldn’t be completely certain, since it was most probable that Huayue and the others had ended up in Little Divine Heaven, she certainly had to search for them. Otherwise, how could she be at ease?
"This won’t be easy. I have studied space formations for so many years and have not succeeded, all my lifetime’s accumulated space array materials are spent. If you wish to go to Little Divine Heaven, you’ll most likely have to rely on the Divine Sky Token.
Lord Divine is still angry at Huayu Temple, and three years ago, when the various divine temples distributed the Divine Sky Tokens, Huayu Temple most likely received none. Even if you could gain Lord Divine’s favor and change his mind, you’d still have to wait seven more years," Wen Gaoren sighed.
"Is there any other way?" Han Yan asked.
Although she knew a little about the Divine Sky Token, she felt it was too far removed from her, so she hadn’t learned much.
"Perhaps you can go to the Life God Temple to think of a way. As one of the Five Great Divine Temples, the Life God Temple should have some Divine Sky Tokens in reserve. However, only priests with exceptional natural talent or who have rendered great service to the temple are awarded a Divine Sky Token." At the end of his speech, Wen Gaoren seemed hesitant, but eventually held back his words.
Though he didn’t finish his sentence, Han Yan understood what he implied. With her current power and not having rendered any service to the temple, it was entirely impossible to ask for a Divine Sky Token from the Life God Temple.
Despite having enough confidence in her priestly talents, the cultivation path isn’t something that can be completed in a single leap; Han Yan could only set aside matters concerning the Divine Sky Token for the moment.
"By the way, we were just talking about why the Ou Family was so aggressive. Thinking about it now, it’s quite possible it was for these magical artifacts. How could they know about this?" Han Yan asked.
According to Gai Huangji, these Heavenly Destiny Star Plates were originally items of the temple, later fell into the hands of the Holy Court, and were even privately given to his disciples by Tian Annan. Now returning to the Divine Continent, it would undoubtedly cause suspicion; better to find out for sure.
"It could only be that traitor, Duan Cheng’an. When I acquired these magical artifacts, only he was by my side, and I never mentioned them to anyone else. He must have informed the Ou Family." Mentioning Duan Cheng’an, Wen Gaoren was visibly angry, his fingers trembling.
"I forgot earlier; I should have left him for you to deal with," Han Yan apologized.
Her attention had been on Ou Mingzhi, who would care about a vile character like Duan Cheng’an; as a result, he left Huayu City together with Ou Mingzhi.
"If he stayed, how could I deal with him?" Wen Gaoren smiled bitterly. "Although he is my disciple, now that he has become a temple priest, I, as a master, cannot punish him arbitrarily. I’ll just pretend I never had this disciple."
Though he spoke as such, Han Yan could tell he was somewhat unwilling. In the Holy Court Continent, such a treacherous person would be condemned, having no place to hide. Still, this is not the Holy Court Continent but the Divine Continent, where the temple’s authority reigns supreme. Any notion that once a teacher, always a father doesn’t hold here.
With the Ou Family backing Duan Cheng’an, which equates to support from the Lingyu Divine Hall, Wen Gaoren couldn’t possibly kill or maim Duan Cheng’an.
