Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 591: He Dares to Mess Around Even at School?
The handsome and noble man silently lowered his head, reaching out to gently brush his wife’s hair in his arms.
"Well, I guess you could say we know each other."
A trace of distraction appeared in Adrian Law’s eyes, and then a faint sigh escaped his lips.
"Dashiell Zane and I were high school classmates, and we even met once at a national math competition."
But we never spoke.
If Adrian Law was the most talked-about figure at school,
then Dashiell Zane, despite his excellent grades and decent looks, was in a noble school where he couldn’t even afford a uniform, only picking the cheapest buns and plain rice in the cafeteria. His father’s early passing left him insecure and sensitive.
Though in the prime of his youth, he was crushed by burdens, unable to hold his head up high, and even later when he rose smoothly through the ranks, his way of handling things never showed forthrightness.
...
Adrian Law knew from a young age that everyone’s childhood experiences would influence their entire life.
Watching Dashiell from afar, Adrian never thought of adding to his troubles or being his redeemer.
Adrian Law was inherently a cold and indifferent person.
If Dashiell couldn’t endure these things or overcome his childhood traumas on the road ahead, despite his high talents, it would be hard for his future to be bright and lasting.
...
Just as Adrian Law thought, after Dashiell Zane rose to a high position in Stellerton, he became increasingly assertive.
What he did wasn’t entirely aboveboard, but he always skirted the gray areas of Veridia’s laws, making it hard for anyone to find major faults.
That Dashiell Zane wasn’t a true gentleman; if his background had been better and he’d had upright people around to guide him, he might not have become entangled in so much trouble.
All of this might be blamed on Boss Zane, who supported Dashiell only because his own descendants were disappointing, seeing him as a mere investment hoping for future returns.
But now that Dashiell has turned against Boss Zane, the two of them are likely headed for a complete fallout.
...
Upon hearing Adrian Law’s words, Cecilia Vaughn was deeply moved.
"I wondered why that young man would willingly take out two hundred thousand for his uncle without expecting repayment, and it turns out Dashiell Zane was raised by that old scoundrel."
"But Dashiell actually never owed him anything."
"???"
Cecilia Vaughn frowned.
"Why do you say that?"
If Dashiell had indeed helped Boss Zane numerous times over the years, it was repaying past kindness. But when he was young, living and education expenses were thrown at him, and even if the attitude was harsh, it had provided sustenance for his mother and himself.
Though Veridia had shown an open trend in recent years, a single mother with a child would still face criticism everywhere, especially a woman with striking looks.
Even Cecilia Vaughn understood this rationale.
So, Boss Zane, as Dashiell’s father’s brother, had at least provided shelter for Dashiell and his mother.
...
Adrian Law understood the implication in Cecilia Vaughn’s words, staring thoughtfully at her delicate, refined face, he sighed gently.
"Cecilia, do you understand that sometimes, beauty is a kind of sin?"
Cecilia Vaughn gazed at Adrian Law in surprise and then playfully poked his handsome face.
"Of course I know, it’s like ’a jade brings its own guilt,’ especially for those who have beauty but nothing else to rely on."
"Adrian, you’re quite good-looking too. If you weren’t a child of the Law Family and knew martial arts, you might have been coveted by some unkind people."
Though Cecilia Vaughn joked, teasing Adrian Law, considering such a situation, it indeed could happen. In ancient times, before Emperor Maximilian Morrison ascended to the throne, he and his sister, both renowned for their beauty, were taken as favorites by the enemy emperor.
Today, it’s even more so, just looking at the entertainment industry where relationships are messy, sometimes big shots, regardless of gender, have the urge to conquer someone just because they look good.
...
Adrian Law helplessly poked Cecilia Vaughn’s forehead.
"What nonsense are you thinking? Are you planning to rebel by using me, your husband, as an example?"
"I wouldn’t dare..."
Cecilia Vaughn laughed, rubbing her forehead in mock pain.
"I just don’t understand why you suddenly brought this up. I saw Dashiell Zane looking quite decent; you wouldn’t say he was bullied by some female gang boss or male thug at school?"
"Not him..."
"Ah?!"
Cecilia Vaughn’s mind went blank for a moment, but looking at Adrian Law’s serious face, she suddenly realized beauty is largely genetic, meaning Dashiell’s mother might be a beauty...
"Do you mean to say Dashiell’s mother was... by Boss Zane?"
Oh my god...
Thinking about it gave Cecilia Vaughn goosebumps all over.
"Boss Zane was Dashiell’s father’s brother! No matter how depraved, how could he wrong his own brother?"
"Ha..." Adrian Law chuckled, glancing at Cecilia Vaughn.
"Cecilia, do you believe that if I were gone one day, Tyson Law might not remain honest with you?"
Cecilia Vaughn found truth in those words.
Since Fiona Vaughn and Tyson Law began their cold war, it was as if Tyson had lost his mind, trying to apologize and hint at reconciling with her.
Thinking more about it gave Cecilia Vaughn goosebumps all over again.
"Stop! You and I are going to live long lives, what do other people’s matters concern us."
"Back to Dashiell’s mother and Boss Zane, how did you know they had that kind of relationship?"
Cecilia Vaughn swallowed, feeling like her worldview was being refreshed once more.
...
Adrian Law’s eyes turned obscure.
The man parted his lips, his voice taking on a frosty edge.
"It was during a high school parent-teacher meeting; my grandmother brought me along. I didn’t expect to encounter Boss Zane groping Dashiell’s mother around a restroom corner."
"..."
At school, of all places?!
Cecilia Vaughn felt a hard-to-describe discomfort.
"Was she... willing?"
"It didn’t look like it..." Adrian’s memory was vivid; though he no longer recalled their faces, the woman’s grievance and speechless anger pierced straight at his heart.
"I separated them."
The excuse was simple, claiming that the school was no place for such racket.
Even though Adrian was young at the time, his tall stature and dignified gaze were intimidating, so Boss Zane, fearing a commotion, pretended that Dashiell’s mother was his wife and embraced her as they left.
