Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 564: The Rise and Fall of Great Clans
Fiona Vaughn spoke anxiously.
"But... after all, I’m the goodwill youth ambassador chosen by both Veridia and America. If Mr. Yates doesn’t mind, why not take Fiona along to broaden her horizons?"
Those attending this level of meeting are bound to be personnel with high-ranking titles from both Veridia and America. Even though the Law Family is already a behemoth, it’s never wrong to make more connections.
Moreover, it’s not just people from Veridia attending this time. Fiona Vaughn has always wanted to expand her international market. If she can break into Mirage Lane, that would be even better. She’s been struggling to find the right person to pave the way, and this opportunity undoubtedly makes Fiona feel thrilled.
...
Cecilia Vaughn and Adrian Law also didn’t expect Fiona Vaughn to be so brazen. Even though it was clear Zachary Yates was unwilling, she shamelessly opened her mouth.
Cecilia Vaughn slightly furrowed her elegant brows. Naturally, she wouldn’t represent Zachary Yates to refuse Fiona Vaughn.
She actually isn’t interested in such so-called high-level meetings, after all, those present are all old hands in the political arena. Going to such places might not necessarily bring her any joy.
Thinking of this, Cecilia Vaughn smiled cheerfully at Zachary Yates.
"Mr. Yates, I think she has a point. My Adrian and I won’t go, of course. Whether you want to take my sister along, please feel free to decide."
Saying this, Cecilia Vaughn smiled and took Adrian Law’s hand.
"Adrian, we’ve enjoyed the plum blossoms enough, shall we go home?"
"Alright."
Adrian Law, indulging, glanced at Cecilia Vaughn, and then nodded slightly to Zachary Yates as a farewell.
...
Seeing the two of them so carefree, the others couldn’t help but stare wide-eyed.
"The Eldest Young Master Law, Classmate Vaughn, are you two really not going? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Missing such a high-level meeting is such a pity!"
So many people would break their heads to rush over.
Although many people inwardly look down on Fiona Vaughn’s shameless behavior, they must admit that if it were them, having such a high platform to showcase themselves and elevate their status, they would be willing too.
Adrian Law calmly took Cecilia Vaughn’s hand.
"Today we’ve already enjoyed the best plum blossoms of Stellerton University with Cecilia, so naturally, there’s nothing to regret."
"..."
The crowd was rendered speechless.
Seeing them both in this state of mind as open and vast as a spring field in March, they felt an inexplicable respect, even a surge of admiration.
Even for a top-tier family like the Law Family, being able to get close to Mr. Yates would indeed be an added advantage.
After all, more connections mean more pathways.
The fact that Zachary Yates was willing to look favorably upon them and voluntarily support these two juniors is surely a fortune cultivated over three lifetimes, and it seemed commendable that Adrian Law and Cecilia Vaughn could relinquish such an opportunity voluntarily.
Perhaps this is why Zachary Yates favors the two of them.
The crowd pondered, thinking Adrian Law aside, given his exceptional background, and Cecilia Vaughn, whose Vaughn Family and maternal Sutton Family essentially didn’t hold much clout in high society. Therefore, recalling Cecilia Vaughn’s earlier remarks, her image unexpectedly grew nobler and more dignified in their minds.
...
Zachary Yates didn’t expect Cecilia Vaughn and Adrian Law to turn him down, but the initial shock faded seeing their united stance.
"Alright, since you wish to leave, I won’t keep you."
Zachary Yates nodded at Adrian Law and Cecilia Vaughn, thought for two seconds, then pulled out a white sheet and jotted down a string of numbers with his black pen from his coat.
"This is my phone number. You two should save it. If there’s anything in the future, feel free to contact me."
Cecilia Vaughn was taken aback, then gratefully looked at Zachary Yates.
"Okay, thank you, sir."
"Why thank me?"
"Oh, I’m just an old codger with one foot in the grave. Perhaps one day I’ll be the one calling you for help."
Zachary Yates rarely cracked a joke. At his age, backed by such a background, there’s naturally nothing worth asking favors for. Anyone with a keen eye could see he was simply elevating Cecilia Vaughn.
Adrian Law pondered for a moment, looking at Zachary Yates’ still sharp and wise eyes, he spoke seriously.
"I heard that two years ago, you were plagued with rheumatism. My friend, Zion Prescott, is the new leader of a medical lineage, and if you don’t mind, I could introduce him to you or perhaps find his grandfather for you."
In these years, Old Mr. Prescott has also been aging and rarely consults externally.
It’s this young man, Zion Prescott, flourishing and supporting the Prescott Family.
Other families may decline, but the Prescott Family, at least as long as Zion Prescott is around, should not face a downturn in this generation.
...
Zachary Yates, of course, was aware of the Prescott Family. His eyes brightened, though at his age, he wasn’t thinking of living to two hundred, knowing it’s beyond human capability.
But if he could lessen the pain of flare-ups, that would be good.
In all of Veridia, the Prescott Family’s medical skills are naturally most acclaimed.
But recalling old affairs, Zachary Yates never approached the Prescott Family for consultation, nor would they voluntarily come to him.
After all, Old Mr. Prescott once pursued Zachary Yates’ partner in his youth.
Though Zachary Yates won, this romantic debt resulted in bad blood between the two families, nearly a non-interference with each other, with no contact between them.
Adrian Law might not know this detail.
Zachary Yates hesitated, frowning, unsure how to bring up this past event, as it involved his wife’s honor, so...
To Zachary Yates’ surprise, Adrian Law directly gave him a meaningful smile.
"No need to hesitate, sir. I’m aware of the entanglement with the Prescott Family. It’s all old affairs. Zion is my friend and won’t bother with these trivial matters."
Zachary Yates quickly caught on, understanding Adrian Law’s intent, and in his heart, felt even more favorably towards Adrian Law.
"Alright, then I’ll trouble the young friend to make the introduction."
...
As Cecilia Vaughn and Adrian Law turned to leave, the old man didn’t bring up his own matters at all.
Fiona Vaughn felt anxious and quickly grabbed Zachary Yates’ sleeve.
"Mr. Yates, can I accompany you?"
