Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1559 - 1551: Wherever the Eyes Rest, There Lies Eternity—From Now On, You’re Allowed Twice a Week
The late autumn nights are always very calm, and the Lancaster Family’s yard is in the far eastern suburb of the city, where people are scarce, and the vast area sparsely dotted with some small villas.
The storm next door has also calmed down, standing at the window, Daxton Lancaster clearly hears the sound of doors opening and closing. His tall and skinny brother walks out of the small yard, looking back up at the building when he gets to the gate.
Daxton Lancaster squints his phoenix eyes slightly. He knows his brother isn’t looking for him. The cigarette between his fingers is down to the butt, but he still brings it to his lips and takes a heavy drag.
The choking sensation is gone, but his heart remains oppressively heavy, as if a big stone presses down on it, so heavy he can’t breathe.
When Daxton Lancaster returns to the room, Violet Zimmerman is already asleep; the lamp is left on at the side where he sleeps.
The vast space is suffused with an ambiguous atmosphere, coming from all directions, entering through the nose and rapidly converging on the area leading to the heart.
Daxton pauses slightly at the door, takes a deep breath, exhales, and only then slowly walks in after fully opening the door.
Violet Zimmerman lies inside the big bed, with her back facing the doorway.
Hesitating for a moment, Daxton pulls back the covers and lies down. For some reason, he pulls the already sleeping woman towards him, tightly clasping his arm around Violet Zimmerman’s waist. As she whimpers, his thin lips are already pressed against her ear.
The amber bedside lamp is supposed to provide a soft, hazy glow, but Daxton’s lips reveal a penetrating coldness.
"Earlier...when Joseph was with you, did you enjoy it, hmm?"
The man’s words poured into her eardrums, wicked and full of a grinding teeth taste.
Actually, Violet Zimmerman hadn’t been asleep. She’d just been with her husband’s younger brother, her heart not yet strong enough for it.
Her retort equally cold and unfeeling, with no struggle, no resistance, just coldly spoken.
"I was only following your orders."
Violet Zimmerman’s words touched Daxton Lancaster’s nerve, or perhaps his nerves have always been sensitive. He pulled her closer into his chest. His thin lips parted and a vulgar word poured into her ear-heart.
"Tell me...if after having children, I can’t satisfy you, would it itch here?"
"Daxton Lancaster! You bastard!" Violet Zimmerman, fueled by unknown strength, breaks free from Daxton’s grip, sits up abruptly.
In the gentle light, Violet stares angrily at the man who seems to be half-smiling, her chest heaving uncontrollably.
Daxton’s phoenix eyes hold speckles of light, creating a dazzling illusion. He extends his hand, slender fingers clutching Violet’s wrist, leisurely saying,
"Even if it itches, don’t worry. You’ll be allowed to be with Joseph twice a week."
Violet Zimmerman...
She can endure borrowing seeds for childbirth because she has no choice, but she can’t stand Daxton Lancaster’s humiliation, clearly everything he’s forced upon her, yet he’s making sarcastic remarks.
Without thinking, she raises her arm and swings it down.
Clearly, he could have avoided it, but Daxton doesn’t dodge, half-smiling as he watches Violet, eyes wide open as her slap lands on his face.
It hurts because the woman didn’t hold back. Immediately, finger marks appear on Daxton’s pale face.
No anger shows on Daxton’s face, but the hand gripping Violet’s wrist tightens. With a spin and a cry of surprise, before Violet realizes, she’s already pinned beneath Daxton.
