Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar
Chapter 567 - 558: Main Story Finale Countdown (10), Part 2
The wedding car stopped. After another burst of firecrackers, the door opened, and William Chapman carried Maeve Sutton out.
He carried her all the way to the pastor. After they both said "I do," as prompted by the pastor, they exchanged rings. Then came a passionate kiss. Speaking of which, the kiss nearly made Maeve Sutton sick to her stomach. William Chapman’s mouth reeked of garlic. The smell was repulsive. She was furious and frantic, but with so many people watching, she could only let him press his mouth to hers and kiss her endlessly.
Then, the guests took their seats, and the two of them went to the bridal suite to change into their reception outfits.
Maeve Sutton reached the bridal suite, but before she could take two steps inside, William Chapman forced the door shut.
William Chapman chuckled as he scooped her up from behind and tumbled directly onto the bed.
"We’re supposed to be changing! Let go!"
"You’re my wife now. It’s not too late to change after we’ve taken care of business."
Maeve Sutton was pinned beneath him, struggling to breathe. "Can you at least brush your teeth first? Your mouth reeks of garlic. It’s absolutely disgusting."
"Fine." William Chapman actually conceded and obediently went to the bathroom to brush his teeth.
When he came out, Maeve Sutton was surprised to see that he had also taken a shower—he emerged completely naked.
"I told you to brush your teeth, not take a shower. I didn’t realize you were so particular about hygiene."
"Saves you from telling me to go wash up again later. I just did it all at once."
Sticking out his potbelly, he climbed onto the bed and knelt before Maeve Sutton, rubbing his limp dick against her face.
"Take it in your mouth."
Maeve Sutton frowned but closed her eyes and did as she was told.
Perhaps seeing how clumsy she was, William Chapman grabbed a fistful of her hair and shoved harder.
It ended with Maeve Sutton gagging repeatedly.
If that was a nightmare, then what came next was hell.
In short, the guests had nearly finished the banquet by the time the newlywed couple finally emerged.
Mr. and Mrs. Chapman’s faces were dark with rage.
Mrs. Chapman shot Maeve Sutton a glare. "Don’t you know you’re supposed to be making toasts?"
Maeve Sutton was filled with indignation. "Mother-in-law, it’s all your son’s fault. How can you blame me?"
Mrs. Chapman grew even more displeased. "Enough nonsense. Get to the toasts."
And so, amid the whispers of the guests, Maeve Sutton began making her rounds to toast the tables.
When she got to Nora Ainsworth’s table, she was quite surprised. She hadn’t expected that not only had Nora come, but Quentin Grant and their two children had as well. The whole family had shown up.
Nora Ainsworth stood up, took the glass Maeve Sutton offered, and smiled. "Congratulations on your wedding. I wish you a long and happy life together."
Maeve Sutton reluctantly replied, "Thank you."
Mrs. Lynch happened to be at the same table and also drank a toast.
Not wanting to linger, Maeve Sutton moved on to the other tables.
Quentin Grant filled Nora Ainsworth’s bowl with food until it was piled high like a small mountain.
Mrs. Lynch exclaimed with a smile, "Look at that! Nora, you’re so lucky. Mr. Grant absolutely dotes on you—he even serves you your food himself."
Quentin Grant replied, "Of course. If I don’t dote on my woman, who will? It’s one thing if I’m not around, but when I am, helping her get food is what a man should do. But speaking of which, I should be thanking you."
Mrs. Lynch was taken aback and pointed at herself. "Thank me?"
Quentin Grant nodded. "Mhm. Thank you for being so insistent on calling off the engagement back then. It’s because of you that I got the chance to pursue Nora. Otherwise, where would I ever have found such a wonderful woman?"
Another high-society lady at the table chimed in, "Mr. Grant is right. Mrs. Lynch, you truly failed to recognize greatness when it was right in front of you."
Mrs. Lynch gave an awkward laugh, feeling a bit sour inside. She knew Quentin Grant had a point.
"Yes, yes. But my son is very happy now, too. Holly Wood is pregnant."
Nora Ainsworth smiled and offered her congratulations. "That’s wonderful. Holly Wood has such a good, gentle personality. You’ll have to treat her well from now on, Mrs. Lynch."
Only then did Mrs. Lynch reply, "Of course I will. With my son protecting her, how could I not treat her well?"
As they were chatting pleasantly, a sudden loud noise drew everyone’s attention.
All eyes turned toward the source of the sound.
They saw that the toasting newlyweds were having an argument.
William Chapman had smashed the wine bottle and tray on the spot, scattering glass all over the floor.
"What’s going on?" Nora Ainsworth asked.
Mrs. Lynch stood up to investigate, then hurried back and said, "It’s because Maeve Sutton was complaining about William Chapman. He got angry and smashed everything. This newlywed couple is really something else, aren’t they? Fighting on their wedding day! They have a whole life ahead of them. How is this going to work?"
"Exactly," someone else agreed.
A while later, the banquet ended, and the guests began to leave.
Nora Ainsworth had Quentin Grant and their two little ones wait by the main entrance while she went to the restroom, where she just so happened to run into Maeve Sutton.
The two former best friends met again, their meeting fraught with jealousy—to be precise, it was Maeve Sutton who was consumed with jealousy toward Nora Ainsworth.
"Nora Ainsworth, you came today just to laugh at me, didn’t you?"
Nora Ainsworth turned on the faucet, not even glancing at her. "Stop judging others by your own petty standards. It’s your wedding day. What kind of joke would I be here to see?"
"Because I married William Chapman! Your man is better than mine, so you came to show off your superiority, didn’t you? I saw through your intentions long ago. Nora Ainsworth, drop the act in front of me."
Nora Ainsworth pulled out a paper towel to dry her hands, then looked at her with a confident smile. "Since that’s what you think, then feel free to see me that way. Because, as a matter of fact, that’s exactly the attitude I came here with."
"You... So it’s true!" Hearing this, Maeve Sutton was seething.
"The man I found is a hundred times better than yours. That’s a fact. Do I even need to repeat it? And another thing—the main reason I came today was to see if this William Chapman was really like the rumors said. Having seen him today, it turns out he is. So now, I can rest easy. With a mindset like yours, your life isn’t going to get any better. Honestly, Maeve Sutton, I hate to say all this to you, but your attitude is just twisted and you’re so incredibly narrow-minded. You cut ties with me because of Leon, and you tried to harm Holly Wood several times because of Leon. I just can’t stand by and watch anymore."
