Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar
Chapter 555 - 547: I Will Absolutely Not Spare You
"Young Madam, the ambulance is here!"
"Quick, get Dylan into the ambulance."
Nora Ainsworth went with Dylan Grant and Elmer Grant in the ambulance. May Jennings and Mrs. Sutton were immediately taken into custody by the Men in Black.
The other children at the kindergarten were all distraught. Dorothy Ellsworth was driven to the hospital by Chloe Marshall.
The teachers soothed the children, and after a short while, they were back to playing, the incident forgotten.
On the way to the hospital, Nora Ainsworth almost fainted several times. An extreme tightness seized her chest. She didn’t understand. She had been so careful, so vigilant about safety, so why was her child still targeted? ’Do I have to homeschool them?’
At the hospital, Dylan Grant was put through a series of tests. The final diagnosis was a Child Worm, but it couldn’t be removed with surgery. The hospital was at a loss and could only advise them to find the Mother Worm to lure it out.
Quentin Grant ordered his men to immediately find an expert with deep knowledge of these worms. But in this critical moment, Elmer Grant, his eyes red-rimmed, looked at his parents. "Dad, Mom, I’m going home for a bit."
Quentin Grant looked at one of the Men in Black. "You, take the Young Master home."
Dorothy Ellsworth silently shed tears and called out, "Elmer."
Elmer Grant glared at her resentfully. "Last time it was because of you, Dorothy, and this time it’s you again! If you hadn’t been so eager to eat May’s pastry and told my brother not to eat it, he wouldn’t have eaten it at all! Dorothy, I’m never playing with you again!"
Dorothy Ellsworth burst into unrestrained tears, rubbing her eyes with her hands. She stepped forward and grabbed his hand. "Elmer, please don’t stop playing with me. I was wrong. From now on... I’ll never eat anything from other people again. When Dylan gets better, we can all play together again."
"My brother’s life is hanging by a thread right now. We don’t even know if he’ll get better." As he said this, Elmer’s own tears began to fall.
Turning around, Elmer trotted away.
One of the Men in Black hurried after him.
Back at the upscale apartment complex, the moment he walked in the door, Elmer looked expressionlessly at the captain of the Men in Black. "Captain, where are they? The old one and the young one."
"They’re in the basement, Young Master. Do you want to go...?"
"Yes."
"Their families reported them missing to the police, saying they disappeared from the kindergarten. They’re looking for them now, but we’ve already suppressed it on the police’s end."
"Send men. Round up everyone else who’s left. Anyone connected to them, don’t leave a single one. Three generations!"
The captain of the Men in Black was startled, but he did as he was told.
He walked toward the basement with his small steps.
He descended the stairs one by one. The area below was brightly lit, almost like daylight.
Mrs. Sutton and May Jennings were tied to pillars. When she saw him coming down, May’s tears fell as she cried out, "Elmer, please let me go."
Elmer had never been so serious before. With such a severe expression, he looked just like Dylan when he was furious. He was tall for his age, looking more like a four or five-year-old, and with his face taut and silent, he was surprisingly intimidating.
In less than half an hour, three generations of the Sutton Family’s close relatives had been brought here. There were over twenty people in total, including her son-in-law’s mother and her family.
Seeing this, the color drained from Mrs. Sutton’s face.
Just then, Quentin Grant and Nora Ainsworth came down as well. There was no way Dylan’s condition could be treated at the hospital.
And because of this, Saphira Sutton wasn’t afraid at all.
Quentin Grant pointed at Saphira Sutton. "Haul her up."
Two of the Men in Black pulled Saphira to her feet.
"What do you think you’re doing? Quentin Grant, let me tell you, if you dare do anything to us, your son will never live to see another day!"
Hearing this, Quentin Grant narrowed his eyes. "Do I look like someone you can just mess with?"
"What?"
"Saphira Sutton, I’ve had my eye on you for a while. I just didn’t expect you to let it go. Last time, when you conspired with Toby Dalton to kidnap my younger son and Dorothy, weren’t you the mastermind who got him severely slashed? You just let Toby Dalton take all the blame, which resulted in him being castrated. He must hate your guts. I let you go last time. Did you really think I’d let you live this time?"
A chill ran down Saphira’s spine. "Quentin Grant, you rich people are bullies! What gives you the right to kill people as you please? You bend the law for your own benefit! It’s one rule for you and another for everyone else!"
"Because I am Quentin Grant. There is only one Quentin Grant in this world. And because this is Fravia. Saphira Sutton, give me the Mother Worm now, and I’ll let your entire family go. Otherwise, you’ll see what happens."
"I won’t give it to you! I worked too hard to finally take down one of your sons. How could I just give up now? Quentin Grant, no matter how rich or powerful you are, when it comes to this, if you can’t find the Mother Worm in twelve hours, not even a god could save your son! HA HA HA! Your two sons killed my brother, and I will have my revenge for him!" As Saphira spoke of this, she was filled with immense satisfaction.
Just then, Monty suddenly slithered down from above. The sight of such a massive creature descending upon them made all twenty or thirty people present jump in shock.
When Saphira saw it, her face went deathly pale!
Nora Ainsworth looked coldly at Mrs. Sutton. "To avenge your son, you’re willing to sacrifice over twenty lives. That’s quite a price to pay."
Hearing this, May Jennings let out a loud wail and cried out to the crowd, "Mommy, I don’t want to die! Mommy, save me! Mommy! Grandma!"
May’s mother was frantic with anger, pointing at Saphira. "If you want revenge, you can risk your own life! Why did you have to drag our family into this, making May do something like that at the kindergarten? Saphira, our entire family is going to die now! And it’s all your fault!"
May’s grandmother was about to faint from rage and started cursing, "Being related to your family by marriage is the worst goddamn luck of eight lifetimes!"
The other relatives also started shouting and cursing. Finally, even Mrs. Sutton spoke up. "Saphira, just give them the Mother Worm. I told you before, your brother is gone, and that’s that. They paid us a lot of money, what more can we do? We could have had a good life, was it worth it for so many people to die?"
Saphira snorted. "This is why people like them dare to bully us! I will absolutely not compromise. I worked so hard to get this far. If I give in this time, I’ll never get another chance like this again!"
Enraged, Nora Ainsworth strode up and slapped Saphira hard across the face several times, leaving both her cheeks swollen and the corner of her mouth bleeding.
"It seems being soft on people like you is completely useless!"
Elmer pulled out a gun and aimed it at May Jennings’s head. The action drew everyone’s horrified gaze, especially May’s parents.
"No! Little boy, I’m begging you, don’t just shoot! May is just a child, she just thought it was a bug! She didn’t know, she was used! Don’t kill her!"
Elmer spoke. "Being young is no excuse. My brother doesn’t have much time left. I’ll ask one last time: are you going to give us the Mother Worm or not! If you don’t, I’ll blow her brains out right now! You want to see who can be more ruthless? I’ll let you witness it firsthand!"
With a THUD, May’s mother dropped to her knees in front of Saphira. "Sister, give it to them! Please, give it to them! I’m begging you, sister! May is my life! I can’t lose her! I can’t let her be a tool for your revenge, Saphira!"
She bent over and slammed her head against the floor with several loud THUDS. Such a mother was worthy of admiration, but Saphira was clearly unmoved.
Mrs. Sutton grew anxious too. She knew the dead were dead, and those still living shouldn’t die if they didn’t have to; once you’re dead, you can’t come back to life. She looked at Saphira. "Where did you hide the Mother Worm? Give it to them!"
"I’ll die if I give it to them, and I’ll die if I don’t. Why should I bother!"
"But if you give it to them, only you will die! If you don’t, all of us will die with you! I regret this," Mrs. Sutton said in a panic. "I regret doing this! We never should have done something like this!"
Hearing her mother’s words, Saphira finally broke down. "Mom! How can you say that! I’m your daughter too! Who am I even doing all this for?! Wasn’t it for my brother?!"
At that moment, Saphira’s sister-in-law spoke up. "This is how you avenge your brother? By making three generations of our family die with you?! I’m his wife, and even I haven’t said anything! What are you getting so worked up for?!"
Saphira felt another devastating blow. She remembered her sister-in-law encouraging her before. How could she turn on her now!
"Sister-in-law, you..."
"You what? Just hurry up and take out that ’mother’ thing so we can all go home. Saphira, the Grant family paid a lot of money. Let’s just let this be the end of it. Don’t cause any more trouble."
Saphira’s stomach churned with anger as the voices of her relatives swirled around her, all chattering in unison, telling her to hurry up and hand over the Mother Worm so they could go home.
"I’d rather die than hand it over! Since it’s death either way, we might as well all die together! Why should I die alone while all of you get to go back and live your happy lives?"
Nora Ainsworth took a deep breath. "Hand over the Mother Worm. I will let you go. I absolutely will not harm you, as long as you give it to me quickly."
"Nora Ainsworth, do you really think I’d believe you?"
"It’s not up to you whether you believe me or not. If you trust me, you can walk out of this door alive. If you don’t, none of you are leaving. I’ll give you one minute to think about it."
Mrs. Sutton said hurriedly, "Saphira, what is there to think about? Hurry up and tell them."
"If I tell you, you’ll really let me go?"
"I keep my word!"
"Fine." Saphira spoke, revealing the location of the Mother Worm.
Nora Ainsworth immediately sent people to retrieve it from the location she described.
During the wait, everyone was on pins and needles.
Monty, its triangular eyes narrowed, slithered back and forth around Saphira’s feet, frightening her into one shriek after another.
Finally, it wrapped itself directly around her ankle. Her body went rigid, and she squeezed her eyes shut, screaming.
More than twenty minutes later, they finally returned with the Mother Worm.
Quentin Grant immediately went to lure the Child Worm out.
"This is my final warning to all of you. Don’t try any more tricks. I will have people watching you closely. And another thing—keep your mouths shut about what happened here today. If we catch wind of even a whisper, I will show you no mercy!"
