Selene sat on her dressing mirror, just freshly out of another three-hour bath to completely get the scent of her fucking session from her skin.

Sienna stood behind her, combing her wet hair gently enough to make sure they did not entangle while Selene was reading a book.

Or rather, pretending to.

Her thoughts wouldn’t stay in one place.

She could still hardly believe that her stepbrother had fingered her that night, a pleasure so obsessively satisfying that she couldn’t get it out of her head. Not even those three cocks had satiated her that well.

Subconsciously, her tongue darted out and licked around her moist lips.

This was interesting. Cassian was always the type that used humour and calmness to do things, so when he had suddenly lost control and attacked her like that...it was probably the most thrilling experience of her life.

And heavens...she wanted more of him. More of what she could do to her.

And he would only do it again if she pushed Della even harder than before.

It didn’t mean she was no longer obsessed and in love with Malachi, but right now...she couldn’t force Malachi into bed with her, and her wolf’s heat was gradually growing. Cassian would have to do the needful and fuck her again if he wanted her to take it down on Della.

She wanted his finger deep inside of her.

She wanted his face buried in her pussy, already imagining him eating her up. And maybe... temptingly, she wanted his cock, too.

Her stepbrother’s cock.

With her superhuman senses, Selene heard the sound of footsteps approaching her chambers. She slipped out of her mouth and glanced at the door, wondering who was coming to see her so early in the morning.

Soon enough, a knock echoed into the room.

One single knock.

Selene scoffed. Ah, she almost forgot Leopold’s wife still existed.

"Let her in, and excuse yourself," Selene said to her maid, then stood up naked before throwing a robe over her body.

Sienna bowed, walked up to the door and opened it. She bowed to Beatrice too, and then left the vicinity completely.

Beatrice walked into Selene’s chambers, her eyes completely expressionless. She stood in the middle of the room, while Selene lit up a pipe and sat down on the sofa in the room, puffing out a mouthful of smoke.

"If you’re just going to stand there and watch me, might as well leave," Selene said.

"I wasn’t just standing here. I was also noticing you," Beatrice replied.

"Oh! And what exactly did you make of me?"

"I just wanted to see how calm you were going to remain, considering everything that has happened so far and how close the Alpha got to finding out about the truth."

Selene’s brow lifted up, "Oh!" She giggled, "You’re talking about when you were interrogated, right?" She puffed out another smoke, then leaned back on the chair without a care in her eyes, "You can’t blame that on me, sweetheart. You were the one who didn’t get your facts straight that night and kept stumbling on your words,"

Beatrice laughed too, humourless. "But you should also know that if I had once again slipped in that interrogation room, your name would have been uttered too...and you wouldn’t be sitting here right now still living your best life,"

Something in Selene’s eyes shifted for a moment, and she stopped sucking the pipe halfway, "Remind me again," Her voice turned deeper, "What Pack you’re from again, and when you grew the audacity to look me in the eye and talk as you please,"

Beatrice stood her ground too, "Your Pack won’t save you, Selene. If Malachi finds out and opens his teeth on you, no one would come out unscathed,"

A man who lacked his wolf has no teeth!!

Selene knew that well enough, and so this time she burst into loud, vile laughter that brought chills down Beatrice’s spine, "Oh!" Selene cried, looking back up at her again, "You poor, silly thing," She then stood up, and their height was just the same, "Let me tell you a little something," Her voice dipped, "If you did eventually start to tell him things that day, in that room...I would have known immediately. And guess what? Cordelia wouldn’t have been the only person who’d have her throat slit open that day,"

Beatrice’s fists clenched so hard that her knuckles turned white. She already knew Selene was dangerous, but then again, Selene had no idea how equally dangerous Beatrice was, "You can slit my throat all you want, Selene. But tell me," Beatrice also leaned forward, her eyes gleaming with mischief, "Can you also kill the Alpha’s brother?"

"What?" Selene’s eyes narrowed.

"You think you have all the power in the world because you’re from a powerful Pack and close to Malachi?" Beatrice let out a horrifying laugh, then began walking in circles around Selene, "You’ve failed to account for the fact that I am now a member of the Astridge family and lineage. I am now also a member of the Eclipse Crown pack, which I remember...is much more powerful than Nightveil. Also, I’m married to the second most important person in the whole Pack — Alpha Leopold and that man would do anything for me," Beatrice stopped behind Selene, and whispered into her ear, "So don’t ever think you can mess with me...and get away with it,"

"How revolting," Selene murmured, then she turned around and faced Beatrice once again, "Trash like you...that came from a low pack, thinks she can outpower someone like me?"

"I have enough Moonfire with me to burn down that whole power you’re bragging about, Selene. Or have you already forgotten that I was the one that supplied the Moonfire ash we used on the banner that afternoon?"

Selene was still smiling and shaking her head in dismay, "Are you sure it’s ok to keep speaking to me like that, sweetheart? Or have you forgotten already that in eight days, that rotten filth would be dead and Malachi would reinstate our betrothal. Which means soon...I would be the Luna of this Pack and you...will regret the words that came out of your bitchy mouth this morning,"

Beatrice’s smile remained exactly where it was, not because Selene’s words hadn’t landed but because women like Beatrice had long mastered the art of never bleeding where others could see.

"I hope that goes well for you," Beatrice finally answered.

"Let me ask you something, Beatrice," Selene’s eyes narrowed sharply, "Are you sure this is all about just killing your Rotblood sister, or have you acquired greater ambitions?"

That made the corner of Beatrice’s lips lift ever so slightly.

Selene’s eyes lingered on her for a heartbeat longer than necessary.

She had underestimated this woman.

She’d thought Beatrice was simply a frightened little manipulator who hid behind tears and polite smiles.

Instead, there was steel underneath—enough steel to become dangerous if left unattended.

"...Perhaps," Selene said lazily, "I should congratulate Leopold. His wife has finally found her backbone."

Beatrice smiled pleasantly, "I had one all along. You simply never looked closely enough."/

Neither woman believed the conversation anymore.

It had stopped being about words several minutes ago. Now it was only about measuring the person standing opposite them.

How far they’d go.

How difficult they would be to remove.

"Then let us hope," Selene said smoothly, "that neither of us is foolish enough to become the first casualty."

Beatrice inclined her head with perfect etiquette, "I couldn’t agree more." Then, she turned toward the door. After reaching it, she stopped without looking back.

"Oh... one more thing."

Selene waited.

"If I were you..." Beatrice’s voice remained calm, "...I’d spend less time celebrating a victory that hasn’t happened yet."

The door clicked shut behind her, and silence settled over the chambers once more.

Selene stood motionless, and the pleasant smile slowly disappeared from her face, "...Sienna."

The maid appeared almost immediately, "My Lady?"

"Put on your cloak. There is something you must do!"

"What is it, my lady?!"

"I want to know everything she does. Stalk her for a while, and learn her routine well enough that I could predict where she’ll be before she decides to go there."

Sienna bowed immediately, "Yes, my Lady."

After the maid disappeared, Selene remained by the window, absently tapping the pipe against the stone ledge.

If Beatrice had decided to fully step onto the board, then Selene wouldn’t mind another game.

Far away in another wing of the castle, Beatrice walked calmly through the corridor until she was certain nobody could see her.

Only then did the pleasant expression melt away.

Her eyes turned calculating. Selene has always been an obstacle in her way, since she would be the next candidate for Luna after Della is out of the way.

Beatrice smirked.

The little Pack Princess has no idea what was coming.
