Need her help?

Can he even hear himself?!

Della looked at Cassian, deeply offended and troubled at the same time.

"I already told you before. The world could burn for all I care,"

"I can’t let my Pack fall, Della," He continued, "The Meeting would entail a lot of discussion, and it might get to the point where...I might have to tell everyone that you’re still alive,"

"You won’t dare!" Her eyes started to glow, "You promised to keep your mouth shut,"

"Della, you must understand that I intended to keep the promise I made to you." He sighed, "Then Malachi told me all about the missing Moonfire and now I’m worried and scared for myself and my people. I don’t know what else to do,"

"Every wolf out there hates me. They scorn my existence. What makes you even think the Supremes are going to condone any talk regarding a Rotblood?"

"Because you’re our only chance." His voice became more serious, "We’ve been circulating the truth about you. About Rot-bloods. What your wolves actually do,"

"And you think that is going to change their minds?"

"It has to," He said firmly, "Because there’s no other way around this. We have no other solution. No other way to fight back,"

"Then you better look for one," She raged, her eyes colder now, "Trying to clear my name...the misunderstanding people have had for centuries about Rot-bloods. Even if it worked, even if wolves started seeing Rot-bloods as some kind of mighty, good wolves...it wouldn’t clear the damage that has already been done. To me. To... everyone of us that came before me. And I’ll say it just one more time: Alphas Cassian," She stared straight into his eye, "I will NOT help a single wolf. You can all burn to death while I watch and laugh,"

Cassian nodded once, swallowing tightly.

He didn’t dare argue anymore. Partly because he knew he couldn’t convince her, and partly because he was a bit scared that she would gouge out his eyes if he said one more word.

But still, he had something to say to her.

"Forgive me, Della," His voice was incredibly low, and he was avoiding eye contact now. A little more intensely.

"Why?" Her eyes narrowed.

"I seem to have broken another promise," He added with a deep breath, "But believe me, I had no choice but to try. I’m only but a desperate Alpha trying to save his people,"

Sue didn’t get what he was saying, till she heard something else.

Footsteps.

Someone was approaching her chambers, and the sound of the footsteps, the control, the quiet moves, the slow breathing as though the person was trying to hold their breath...

Oh...no!!

Her eyes widened slightly, and Cassian instantly stepped back because she now looked like she was seriously about to attack the hell out of him, "I’m sorry," He said again, "I just had to tell him,"

"You promised!" She shrieked, "You said you wouldn’t tell anyone I was here!"

"Forgive me," He repeated almost inaudibly.

Just then, the door opened, and the stupid mate bond did the thing it was born to do. It stirred to life, and Della felt like her whole chest had been set aflame.

She suddenly wanted to jump into his arms.

Hug him.

Kiss him.

Throw Cassian out of the room and have her ways with him.

*Ugh! Somebody kill me!* She yelled internally.

Asteria heard her, but she was too busy admiring Malachi to reply for now. The mate bond was really aggressive tonight, because it was the second night of the Full Moon.

And her wolf was more affected than she was. Both of them were fighting for their lives right now, and the feeling was very mutual.

Between her and Malachi.

Because the first thing the goddamn Alpha did — with his broad shoulders and a face that looked like it’d been carved directly from the Moon — was grab her face and kiss her as if nothing else could ever matter.

He swallowed her lips completely, feasting on every corner of them with such reckless pull that it knocked all the air out of her lungs.

Her hands came up to push him away. Her claws were ready to sink into his flesh and make him regret ever coming here. Ever touching her like this.

But the mate bond and the Moon Goddess who created it were real assholes because the effect was fucking irresistible. Because instead of attacking him, both hands wrapped around his neck instead, and her body melted into his so perfectly.

One hand remained on her face, and the other moved around her face and pulled her even closer.

Della gasped softly and kissed him more.

The feeling of his lips against hers, his body pressing into hers, and that taste of masculinity and smoke combined were all like the most potent aphrodisiac to ever exist.

Her claws slowly retracted back on their own, and she finally managed to pull back a little from the kiss.

And now, their eyes were locked and they were staring at each other.

She looked at him with so much hate in her eyes, and yet, so much more uncontrolled desire. His eyes were much more softer, and they had the audacity to pierce through her shield and straight to the burning heart.

"Get away from me," She murmured against his lips.

"I cannot," He replied huskily, brushing his swollen lips against hers again.

"You must," She made a troubled face again and added, "I must. I must...resist,"

Unfortunately, it was still impossible.

This closeness.

The colliding heat between them.

The desire exploding between every touch and the way their wolves sought out even more. Begged for it.

"Must you?" He purred again.

"I hate you," She whispered, her hands curling into his hair and dragging against his scalp, while his mouth travelled down to her neck and left her breathless and gasping for air once again, "I hate you...so much,"

"I know," He gripped her waist tighter, desperate to feel through her dress. To feel everything.

His hands rubbed, trying hard not to tear the damn thing off her. But he was so close.

"And I love you," He added, and came back to her lips, his tongue parting them to dive into the heavenly wetness there, "I fucking need you to breathe, Moonfire. I’m nothing without you. So damn useless,"

He pressed his throbbing hardness against her stomach, and she moaned against him.

She was losing this battle.

No, she had lost this battle already.

She should have rejected him while she had the chance!
