Moonfire Bride: The One they all betrayed...till she awakened
Chapter 191: Three Problems
It’s been so, so long. Della felt such intense emotions in her chest that wasn’t hatred, anger, or cold.
Right now, she was laughing her lungs out.
She stood just outside the walls of Riverrock Castle, listening to her dear nemesis of a sister yelling like the maniac she was and scrambling helplessly around her matrimonial room.
She was like a trapped mouse in there.
And last night, she’d experience something very vile, and Della had watched it all happen in a dark corner.
She’d always been there.
Every time she made sure something went wrong, she was always there to watch and enjoy the outcome of it.
Jaime’s Fuck-up with the negotiation? She’d been there.
Evangeline’s betrayal to the Eastern villages? Della has watched Alpha Augustus talk down to her during that meeting and her breakdown afterwards.
Every other thing that went wrong? Della was there to experience the outcome.
And every time the doll had shown up? Della had been there watching Beatrice flip out completely.
Her best show so far was when she’d called Jaime and her mother to come and see the doll. Della had simply hid it and made her look paranoid to her mother and brother. No one would ever believe she was seeing anything.
And last night? Della had watched Conan force himself on her again and again. She’d listened to her sister’s cries for help. She’d burned the sound into memory and would never forget it.
If she wanted to, she could have helped her... but she didn’t want to.
The same way Beatrice had sat down that night and watched as she was almost r*ped, was the same way Della had stood there all night and watched with cold, unmoved eyes as her evil sister was actually r*ped.
The light from the torches didn’t reach her.
None of them was powerful enough to sense they weren’t the only ones in the room, and oh! It was quite a show till daybreak.
And now, with the appearance of the doll, Della could not help but laugh till her stomach was hurting pretty bad. This vengeful dish she was cooking for all of them was turning out pretty sweet.
"Get away!! No!!! Please....ahhhhh!!!"
Della laughed again. Gosh, she didn’t know how much longer she could go before her stomach would burst.
But as she laughed, she caught a fight that made the smile slowly twist into a frown.
Her hand was twitching again, and it wasn’t just a finger this time. The whole arm was twitching, like the muscles and bones had been taken control of by someone else.
By something that was still alive inside her darkened soul.
And as she stared at it, her eyes turned into pure cruelty. If only she could just rip out the stupid arm, or just rip out the source of the problem itself. She wanted to pull her heart out of her chest and carve out that part that wasn’t cold.
Just then, the mate bond stirred and her frown got even worse. She couldn’t tell what he was feeling since they were too far apart, but whatever it was was making her own chest twist.
Cursed mate bond.
It hummed again, and Della almost growled in anger. She should have rejected the dang man the last time she’d seen him, but he kept kissing the words back down her stomach.
Maybe next time.
For now, there was someone she had to go and see.
She looked up at the castle one more time, her eyes locked on the closed window of the bride’s room. Or rather, the Alpha’s new whore.
I’ll be back.
And then, she headed back to Nightveil.
Cassian was in his chambers when Della arrived. He’d been in a long meeting all morning with his council members and head of divisions as they started to prepare for war.
From the number of Packs that had gone down overnight and the crazy nature of the attacks, it looks like the rogues and their armada of Moonfire could come for Nightveil anytime from now.
And Moon Goddess help them, because that Moonfire would burn them all to ashes before the rogues even get a chance.
And the only person who could help them with Moonfire...now hates everything and everyone around her.
Which was why Cassian had reached out to Beta Rowan a few days ago. He’d asked the beta to spread the news about the truth behind what ’Rotblood’ actually means across Packs and territories.
He wanted the truth to spread to every Supreme’s territory like wildfire, and the matter was already being taken care of right now.
Wolves desperately needed to understand that Rotbloods aren’t some cursed, demeaning, wolfless creatures that go around spreading rot and more curses. Rotbloods are wolves that have strange abilities that take time and deep emotions to awaken — they are wolves that can absorb every form of poison that can harm regular wolves.
But there were three problems with this plan, and all of them seemed almost impossible to execute, especially the second one.
The first one was actually convincing Supremes that records are true, and that they need Della if they want to stop this spurt of rogues and Moonfire that are coming for all of them.
The second...was convincing the Rotblood herself to help them with this war. But Della wants nothing more than to see the whole wolf realm wiped out. Every wolf out there has constantly trampled, and thrown knives at her.
And the third...was actually revealing to the world that Della was still alive. That would ruin every thing she had planned out.
Della stood behind Cassian, wondering what had the Alpha so deep in thought. He was seated by the edge of his enormous bed, his silver eyes zoned out completely.
She’d whispered his name three times, but he wasn’t snapping out of it.
It wasn’t until she stepped into the fight, her cloak dragging across the floor behind her and then reached out and tapped him once on the shoulder.
"Cassian," She whispered.
He blinked once, and his eyes came back to focus. He instantly flew up to his feet as he saw her, "Little servant!"
Little servant? Weren’t they way past that? She wanted to ask him what he was so deep in thought about, but she didn’t care.
"I came to ask you something," Della said.
Cassian’s brow furrowed curiously. Just then, his vision caught sight of one of her hands.
Her left arm was shaking. No... twitching.
The moment his gaze fell on it, Della hid it behind her back.
"I came to ask you about Selene," She said, pulling his attention back to her pale face. "Why do you have her locked up in her chambers?"
