Monsters Die When Killed

Chapter 677: Ram Into It

“An attack? No, it’s not aimed at us!”

As a former elite fighter pilot, Bai Jingtiao was only startled for a moment before judging that the attack wasn’t aimed at them. But he soon realized the attack was headed for the Command Module!

‘Attacking the very moment Su Zhou leaves the Command Module? Destroying our only way back… A good choice, indeed!’

He thought this but shook his head inwardly. ‘Too bad. The Commander thought of this long ago and fully charged the Defensive Array. And this is the Era of Spiritual Qi Revival—even our satellites are covered in Defensive Runes, let alone the moon Command Module.’

It all happened in an instant. The silver stream of light streaked across the sky and struck the Command Module as it orbited the moon.

But at the same time, a brilliant, pale golden light suddenly flared up on the Command Module’s armored hull, releasing a perfectly circular Barrier shield in the same instant. The silver stream of light seemed to be some kind of high-speed, solid metal stream, accelerated to over twenty times the speed of sound in the absence of atmospheric friction. But even with the destructive force of this impact mixed with Spiritual Power, it failed to pierce the shield right away.

On the Moon’s Surface, beside a deep valley, the humanoid figure covered in a silver carapace frowned. He watched the Spiritual Light that had abruptly flared in the sky, but unfortunately for him, the fiery explosion he had hoped to see never appeared.

The ‘Deep Space Caller’ slowly lowered his arm, which had transformed into a cannon barrel. Then, with a series of ripples, it morphed back into a normal human right hand. John Harrison’s eyes locked onto the landing shuttle that was descending toward the Moon’s Surface in a slanted trajectory, and he spread his arms.

Then, with a ripple like a water drop falling on a calm lake spreading from his chest, a huge, cannon-like cavity appeared in the very center of the silver-carapaced humanoid’s chest.

His entire body was made of this unidentified silver substance that appeared solid but could, in fact, deform at will!

The crystals in the Deep Space Caller’s eyes were constantly multiplying, contracting, and focusing. A virtual firing trajectory had already overlapped with the Moon Landing Shuttle’s flight path; he had a complete lock on it. In his chest, fine silver lightning crackled and interwove. A blazing white vortex of light spun within his body, the terrifying whirlwind containing enough energy to instantly destroy a skyscraper.

“BOOM!”

He mouthed the sound, and as the Deep Space Caller let out a silent, maniacal laugh on the Moon’s Surface, a stream of silver light—brighter and larger than the last—shot out from the center of his chest, like a bolt of lightning piercing the vacuum of the cosmos.

「Meanwhile, in the air.」

“Command Module, this is the Moon Landing Shuttle. What’s your status? Over.”

Although he knew the Command Module was likely fine, as the commander, Su Zhou still had to ask. Soon, Meng Jin’s normal voice came through: “This is the Command Module. All systems are nominal, but the enemy attack has knocked us out of near-moon orbit. We cannot return to a stable orbit in the short term and are unable to provide immediate nuclear support. Over.”

“Safety first. Keep an eye on the energy charge of the ‘Unbreakable’ Array. Over.”

After finishing his communication with Meng Jin, Su Zhou detected the enemy’s second wave of attack. In contrast to Bai Jingtiao’s furrowed brow and Gu Yaoluo holding his breath, he, who had seen his fair share of intense situations, simply said calmly, “Bai Jingtiao, adjust our angle. Prepare for impact.”

“Gu Yaoluo, charge the Moon Landing Shuttle with me.”

“Yes, sir!” “Right!” Two responses rang out as Su Zhou placed his hands on the crystal handles on either side, specifically designed for charging the Moon Landing Shuttle.

His ten fingers clenched tight, and a sea of Spiritual Power began to pour from his body.

Gu Yaoluo, a genius of astonishing talent praised even by the Holy Seat, did the same. Compared to a typical Extraordinary Tier, his Spiritual Power was already immense. An ordinary Extraordinary High-tier with a Spiritual Power Index over one million would be considered a prodigy. Even the uniquely talented Divine Beast Golden Pearl only had five million.

But Gu Yaoluo’s Spiritual Power Index, as a pure human without a True Body, had reached 3.7 million points of Spiritual Power. This was the source of his pride. Very few could achieve this, not even others with an Innate Daoist Body.

But in that instant, as he connected to the Moon Landing Shuttle’s energy cells alongside Su Zhou, Gu Yaoluo sensed an impossibly vast Spiritual Power. It was ‘forcefully cramming’ itself into the energy cells at a speed ten, even a hundred times faster than his own!

That’s right. When an ordinary person channeled Spiritual Power into the Moon Landing Shuttle, it was a mere pour, or at most, an infusion. The energy transfer ports were so well-designed and the transfer efficiency so fast that it was difficult to reach maximum capacity. Gu Yaoluo himself could only reach a quarter of the peak limit… but Su Zhou was different. His instantaneous Spiritual Power transfer far exceeded the port’s reception efficiency, to the point that he had to ‘cram’ it in!

And Su Zhou’s total Spiritual Power was at least a thousand times his! That is, over three billion in Spiritual Power!

The Spiritual Power Su Zhou transferred in that one instant was more than Gu Yaoluo’s entire reserve!

Su Zhou, for his part, found this rather regrettable. Ever since returning from the Divine Wood World, he had been in deep cultivation with the full support of the Zhengguo Government. He had broken through to the Commander Middle Stage three months ago, completely integrating all his Divine Techniques. Now, he was striding toward his own limit, the pinnacle of Divine Techniques.

But due to a series of unforeseen events, the Zhengguo moon landing mission was moved up by several months, so he hadn’t achieved his small personal goal: to cultivate a standard Zhou Buyi of Spiritual Power—that is, five billion points—before landing on the moon.

But even so, he still possessed an immense Spiritual Power of over 3.9 billion, nearly four billion points!

Spiritual Power, the power to change reality. A Transcendent who wields this power can create Flame and Thunderbolt from nothing, bringing ‘Miracles’ and ‘Change’ into an ordinary world.

A perfect body, the strongest talent, and a mind honed through numerous life-and-death battles allowed Su Zhou to face the spiraling stream of silver light—which was hurtling straight for the Moon Landing Shuttle as if to turn everything to ash—and close his eyes without a trace of fear.

Then, he wrapped his power around the Moon Landing Shuttle.

In an instant, the over eleven-meter-long Moon Landing Shuttle, like a giant Flying Sword, was coated in a layer of bluish-purple Spiritual Light by Su Zhou’s Spiritual Power.

“Turn, Bai Jingtiao.”

Opening his eyes, Su Zhou issued the command: “We’re accelerating!”

“Yes, Commander!”

Understanding Su Zhou’s intent in an instant, the fearless Bai Jingtiao couldn’t help but grin. ‘Just as my big brother said, this Professor Su really is a character!’

He quickly turned the bluish-purple Moon Landing Shuttle, and without dodging or evading, charged straight toward the stream of silver light!

“Wait!”

Gu Yaoluo exclaimed in alarm, “Isn’t that the wrong way?! Shouldn’t we be turning back to increase the distance and avoid the impact?!”

“Avoid it? Why should we?”

Taking a deep breath, Su Zhou directly gathered his power. The bluish-purple Spiritual Power began to erupt continuously around the Moon Landing Shuttle. Powerful nodes of Spiritual Power acted just like small rocket engines, roaring as they shot out streams of light and causing the shuttle to accelerate again and again in the near-frictionless vacuum.

Instantly, the entire Moon Landing Shuttle truly became like a Flying Sword, also transforming into a stream of light that raced through the vacuum.

And Su Zhou said in a deep voice, “Ram right into it!”
